Hey mate what rod and what pound line and leader when you fishing for them canal jacks? I'd imagine lighter than usual? Raby bay canals can be quite clear at times
@@jordancama4961 lol hell no bro worse in canals than mangroves and rock walls if u don’t pull them out they cut you on all the barnacles under the pontoon but I little bit easier down the Gold Coast around the sandbar pontoons but u need at least 25 pound leader 20 pound braid I fish 30 and 30 but when you get that big dog pulling you under man trust me you need at least 30 , they are pound for pound the hardest fighting fish in all estuaries
@@jordancama4961 oh yeh I use a venom rod 15 to 30 pound 7 foot from Wilson and a 4000 Stella can stop big fish with that setup , I recommend a hi gear ratio reel spin i wouldn’t go anything under a 3000 size reel 2500 are a little pit weak with the real big dogs in tight cover if you’re fishing rock walls and natural structure 2500 is fine but you really need that quicker retrieve to not give him any slack , if you give them the slightest chance they will blow you apart
@@Dalecummingsfishing ok brother cheers for the reply! My biggest setup is a 3000 vanford with a zodias 270M, 20lb line and leader so fingers crossed 😂 I'm land based anyway so limited access to jacks but you never know hopefully I catch one cruising the east or west canal entrances. @@jodutton4318 sometimes there’s a period of time in the day where mangrove jack are super aggressive and will smash your lure it could be anywhere from 10 minutes to a hour but when it happens i suggest you fish hard and fast
Fish Raby all the time but never even thought to try for jacks in there, do you get them there often? Might have to give it a crack myself, mainly only fish for bream in raby
@@33454262 thanks Warren mate I usually run with a 20 to 30 pound main line shimano kariki braid and a 25 to 30 pound fc rock leader by sunline it’s very abrasive leader and you must have a fg knot
