To me, this song is about growing up, leaving my childhood behind, leaving the magic, imagination and innocence and leaving my childhood behind, slowly learning that the world isn't really as it had seemed, and as I'm getting ready to go to university next year, leaving with a heavy heart, unsure of how such a perfect world existed to me, but keeping it in my heart and not letting it leave, the memories, the freedom, the love, friendship, adventure and beauty. I don’t really know how to explain this but when I listen to this song I think of an angel showing a small child whom had cancer or something like that around heaven and it makes me so sad. I cry every time I hear this masterpiece.
It's not as sad or deep as what many people think of when they hear this song, but when I listen to this I like to imagine my favorite fictional character. Holding my hand, guiding me through this wonderful place, making me feel *loved* and it makes me cry every time. But it helps me. I'm a maladaptive daydreamer. This song captures how it feels to be addicted to being inside of your own head, and the cruel reality of the fact that the things that make you feel alive arent real. The things that make you happy, the things that make you feel content, its all fake. It captures the feeling of coming out of a daydream and realizing that what you're dreaming about will never truly happen, so you want to go back into it. It's a cruel cycle.
I think of wonderland as a place where children who are suicidal go when they do it. People in wonderland are rewarding them for trying. And the people there cant believe they are finally happy. This song will always hold a special place in my heart. When I was recovering from my eating disorder, I also struggled with insomnia and had extreme hunger, so when I'd wake up at 3 or 4 AM and was too hungry to fall back asleep, I'd play this in the kitchen and dance to it as I waited for my meal to heat up in the microwave. Special nights- pain, but healing pain, and not needless suffering.

You’d been going through something recently so he insisted you meet him in an hour in the little forest by your house that you always went on walks with him in. Then he gave you a bag that had a beautiful pastel blue and white dress and told you to put it on before you went. You were confused and asked why but he said you’ll see.. One hour later: You had your dress sound like he said and your sister who is a hairstylist did your hair really pretty. You didn’t even ask her she just said that she should do your hair, so you let her still confused. Then you began to walk to the place in the forest he said to meet. You could see it but it wasn’t just the normal forest! He decorated every tree around him and flowers petals covered the path up to the also beautifully decorated bench he was sitting on and he was singing this song, welcome to wonderland, and the forest looked like wonder land! He sang the song along with playing it on his guitar he was also dressed nice. You cryed tears of joy as you say beside him in this beautiful fantasy. He even set up a little tea party picnic with cupcakes with floral designs and teacups golden rimmed. After the tea party you danced and laughed, and even played with a lovely white rabbit he’d got :) till the sun set, and when it did he put on these little lights hanging from the trees. At the end of the day when you were about to go home he took the mad hatter top hat off his head and pulled out a gorgeous little white box with floral and gold designs matching the theme around you. He opened it to reveal a ring and proposed! It was the best day of your life! 💕

This song makes me cry. I image that they call wonderland , heaven and the person singing the song is someone who has passed away . Wonderland is filled with beautiful vibrant colored , orange and pink flower fields and the sun is setting. With the darkness of the night closing in. They are telling me about everything they love about wonderland. They drag me along, showing me everything and what we could do before the time runs out and we will just have to wait to see them again. The dream comes to a end and we have to say goodbye. For me this song represents the childhood I was never allowed to have. It's the joy of watching my siblings and cousins grow up without a care in the world and also the sadness that I'll never get that. It's the pain that comes when people tell me I'm to young to be so sad and bitter and that I should look on the "bright side" even though my light faded the first time my dad put my mom in the hospital. But it's also the relief in knowing that I am prepared to help others through the pain and suffering, into a stable loving environment. But most of all, this song reminds me of the people that didn't give up on me when it seemed like my life was going nowhere, the teachers and relatives that constantly pushed me to be better and the brothers that made me want to be a better person.

This makes me think of an angel guiding a child or child-like adults through to their next life. It's wholesome, whimsical, kind and mournful, and at the end the angel has to relive a life on Earth to make sure they don't forget to be kind to those who pass through their realm - not that they would forget!
i think of wonderland as the place that all of the people who suffocate in their emotions go after they finally give up. the depressed kids are congratulating everyone for trying their hardest because they know how it feels. the anxious kids are trying to comfort everyone because they know how it feels.

I'm a maladaptive daydreamer. This song captures how it feels to be addicted to being inside of your own head, and the cruel reality of the fact that the things that make you feel alive arent real. The things that make you happy, the things that make you feel content, its all fake. It captures the feeling of coming out of a daydream and realizing that what you're dreaming about will never truly happen, so you want to go back into it. It's a cruel cycle.

He wrote it late into the night when he would dream about both his time in Wonderland and his time with his daughter, the dreams meld together. He looked forward to his dreams when he could be with her and although he knew he was dreaming the memories from his dreams kept him going while he was awake. He sings the song to Grace as a lullaby after the curse is broken. Grace wonders about his time when he left her, where he went. He gives his once prison of a world a jovial outlook as not to make his daughter sad for him. That's the way things are and no one can tell me differently!

When I was recovering from my eating disorder, I also struggled with insomnia and had extreme hunger, so when I'd wake up at 3 or 4 AM and was too hungry to fall back asleep, I'd play this in the kitchen and dance to it as I waited for my meal to heat up in the microwave. Special nights- pain, but healing pain, and not needless suffering.

You’d been going through something recently so he insisted you meet him in an hour in the little forest by your house that you always went on walks with him in. You had your dress sound like he said and your sister who is a hairstylist did your hair really pretty. You didn’t even ask her she just said that she should do your hair, so you let her still confused. Then you began to walk to the place in the forest he said to meet. You could see it but it wasn’t just the normal forest! He decorated every tree around him and flowers petals covered the path up to the also beautifully decorated bench he was sitting on and he was singing this song, welcome to wonderland, and the forest looked like wonder land! He sang the song along with playing it on his guitar he was also dressed nice. You cryed tears of joy as you say beside him in this beautiful fantasy. He even set up a little tea party picnic with cupcakes with floral designs and teacups golden rimmed. After the tea party you danced and laughed, and even played with a lovely white rabbit he’d got :) till the sun set, and when it did he put on these little lights hanging from the trees. At the end of the day when you were about to go home he took the mad hatter top hat off his head and pulled out a gorgeous little white box with floral and gold designs matching the theme around you. He opened it to reveal a ring and proposed! It was the best day of your life! 💕

For me this song represents the childhood I was never allowed to have. It's the joy of watching my siblings and cousins grow up without a care in the world and also the sadness that I'll never get that. It's the pain that comes when people tell me I'm to young to be so sad and bitter and that I should look on the "bright side" even though my light faded the first time my dad put my mom in the hospital. But it's also the relief in knowing that I am prepared to help others through the pain and suffering, into a stable loving environment. But most of all, this song reminds me of the people that didn't give up on me when it seemed like my life was going nowhere, the teachers and relatives that constantly pushed me to be better and the brothers that made me want to be a better person.

This song makes me so sad but happy at the same time. It helps me think of all the good memories and experiences I’ve had. But at the same time it brings back the dream of living in a fantasy world just having fun with your friends and little creatures

i know every version I've done is cringe, but its honestly how my perspective of the lyrics change.
a little girl is biking down a path, when she falls and knocks herself out. she wakes up hours later, in a cottage far from her house. she is scared, worried. she opens the door and light fills the room, there are children running and laughing with fairytale characters. alice just happens to be waiting for her.
Brilliant imaginative interpretation 💕 You have found how our souls like to speak and listen .. metaphorically ... I ask you to contemplate how much depth can be found in this way .. wether the songs writer had a different idea completely or not it doesn't matter ... That's art .. I have a more simple take .. The magic and wonder in a young mind .. and the sadness in realising you can't stay there forever .. ( but they doesn't mean you can't visit whenever you feel like it 😉) .. I was going through really tough times and I was listening to this song one day and, it talks about how you can escape from reality into your dreams. Everyone that is in "wonderland" has a "heavy heart" so everyone that's there is going through problems.
This song means so much to me because I want to escape from reality to a beautiful wonderland where everybody can be happy and where those no problems. Thats exactly how I feel when I listen to this song, and I love that feeling.
