A great man once told me “don’t think of it as a stupid job, think of it as a stepping stone for a better career.”
What a wise man
Take your schizophrenia pills
Very wise of him to tell you that
nice?
I got fired from mine f
when they ask "why did you choose this job" they dont mean "why did you want a job" they want to know why you chose them specifically out of a multitude of other jobs.
Lol the answer is still the same regardless. I'm broke and need money.
It’s kinda crazy how much Costco workers get paid
Costco just the goat
lol as a new costco employee, I get $2 above min wage. You have to work like a decade to get those $27-30/hr pay rates. Even then, it is still one of the easier jobs that I've had with good benefits. They allow us new workers to take 1 week (unpaid) vacations too.
I worked with Costco too. Downside is getting a full-time job is really hard. But if you're young and need something for some cash, it's a great job.
Retail jobs definitely create stories, the stuff I’ve seen at Walmart 🤦♂️
Sams club lots of affairs & drama
Ironic that the best time was when I quit/got fired from my minimum wage job.
I worked as a food service worker
I hated being nearly gaslight by saying "we did it x way forever."
I hated having to deal with the crabby co workers
I hated the fact that I legit got written up when I was majorly depressed and no one gave a f.
I hated that my boss would be scrolling through Facebook whilst I have a whole line of karts full of dishes and he's not lifting a finger.
Even when I tried to get time to myself by being in the bathroom. They will call me trying to say "it's urgent" when it's not.
Be in mind this is the tip of the iceberg
F
Dang. They shouldn't have treated you like that. You did the right thing to get away from those awful people. This is why I told my parents I didn't want to work at any grocery store or supermarket.
Boo bloody hoo this is life.
You described my two years at Taco Bell. Glad I quit and found a new job making more than my old managers 😂
You weren't depressed
My parents, grandparents, and great grandparents all met on their first couple of minimum wage jobs. Now that I got to get one, I’m kinda worried.
I wish the best for you bud. I have no social circle outside of work so I'm trying to speak to the ladies here. Nothing yet tho
one of the most important unwritten rules of jobs is keeping work friends *STRICTLY WORK FIRENDS* don’t get them involved with your personal life, don’t ask them about their personal life. They can and will turn on you, it’s not worth it.
having friends on school or your job always motivates you
I worked at a gas station for a bit, I did the closing shift which wasn’t that bad. What’s even better is my town is practically a ghost town so I would see the same 5 people every day who just wanted to get a coffee and hang out. Eventually I’d see someone come in who wasn’t from around here, not even from the surrounding shit holes. More often than not those ones were the Karens. We had full permission to tell those people off from our boss because they would ruin the vibe for our 5 guys in the back.
How does someone be a Karen at a gas station? Like what kinds of things are there to complain about other than broken gas machines?

For the love of God, please, DO NOT work a fast food joint. It is absolutely terrible. Minimum wage, dealing with bitchy people, people you don't like, sometimes your friends, and getting yelled at for not knowing how to do your job when they never taught you.
Just don't work restaurants... It ain't worth it.
And when you get a full time higher paying job. Your still going to hate it and be treated like s**t. You'll look back and realise it wasnt really that bad
Have you ever worked 3rd shift and went through daylight savings and was blessed another hour of work
I’m about to start working at my first minimum wage job tomorrow, so seeing this video has me anticipation up even more, I’m tired of having to ask my parents for cash cause I‘ve been feeling like a bum recently
As a line cook (not fast food, dine-in) I highly reccomend it as your first job, really chill and actually fun
Instructions unclear. Worked my first job at Taco Bell and hated every second of my life.

I had a minimum wage job one day. That’s when I decided to buckle down and learn a skill.
Dude, I haven't watched you in a while but this new style of videos is beautiful! You can really see the effort in this one, dude!!
Dude Benson's gonna be so pissed
This video was actually so needed right now. Thanks again Duck!
I love this guys channel I just found him randomly and now I can’t stop watching his videos.
The most important lesson they never taught in school was 'Never work for minimum wage. Not even if you're under age 21. No age is appropriate for minimum wage. Trash wages!"
For me, the way I keep myself from being bored as a custodian is listening to some music sometimes and spinning the grip n grab to the side of my hand. Helps keep me busy and not bored.
Watching this during lunch break for my minimum wage job 😂
My sister used to work at Texas Roadhouse and she dealt with her first Karen there who had a daughter with her. Her daughter had to apologize to my sister for her mom's entitled and aggressive behavior. My sister now works at J. Alexander's, another restaurant.
One time when I used to work at a grocery store some guy in the produce section told me he could summon a whole flock or I guess murder of crows to his house at will. I really didn’t know how to respond to that one.
3 more years till I can even get a job, thanks Duck.
Same I'm not ready yet :(
Same
Same here
4 years for me
Me too!
Thanks I’ll need this in about 3 years so I better learn now!
I absolutely LOVE your vids!
Thank you for the survival guide 🙂
As a minimum wage job I for 2 years,I can confirm this how you survive.
Thanks for the guide, I will use this for the future :D
Thanks needed this rn
Off topic, But Neilson is such a iconic character.
i just started watching ur channel and i dont regret it
Thank you duck for a new video i no it’s gonna be amazing so thank you.❤
Great video as usual
Thanks for the survival guide, will need it in a couple of years
im scared of driving
Seeing this brings back memories of college when I worked usually two part-time jobs at a time in order to pay for everything. Also, cooking my own meals saved tons of money. I was already cooking food in high school but college really was where I learned how to cook so many things. Pro tip: Drive a few extra miles to a more rural supermarket to get items much cheaper.
Another big point for step 6 DO NOT FRIEND COWORKERS ON SOCIAL MEDIA UNTIL YOU DONT WORK THERE ANYMORE! Doesn't matter how chill they are all it takes is 1 bad post and them deciding to be a douche one day and bam you've lost a job. Be chill with people in the workplace, get their number if you're gonna hang out outside of work, but don't friend/follow them on socials unless you are planning to find a different job.
damn its sad to see that im so young now and im gonna have to work a minimum wage job
Welcome to the world 😅
It’ll literally suck the life out of you if you’re not lucky
i work at a movie theater rn and EVERY TIME i have the box office shift i am so bored since no one goes to box office anymore and no one goes to the theater when its daylight
Going to be able to get a job in a few years. Trying to think about it and this video helps
When I worked at hobby lobby my manager was the biggest op of all time. I was the only person in my department for months and I left for the job I got now. Now I work maintenance in a local factory, it's dirty af but pays nice
Great video bro
hey i was hiring once before, and upper management sometimes would not hite kids because they have extra-cirriculars, they think it makes you not available enough and will call out more. So tips if youre getting your first job, i recommend not saying youre busy
Bro I work a minimum wage job and the one thing I look forward too is creating comic books with my team who are outside of my coworkers we create comic books about our real life experiences which makes each day I'm off so much fun
We have saying in shit job industry what's worse than shit job? Looking for shit job. I found perfect gig. Night janitor of banks got key and alarm code. Hardly zero effort. Wipe toliet bowl, mirrors, sinks, take trash out sweep, mop. Takes 1 hour clock in with app. I usually start anytime after 6pm go clear into night at my own pace. I'm a pro
I got a homework grading job in kumon Academy, which is like a summer school chain. NGL, it was chill because I got to doodle little stick guys on their tests. It was quiet and cushy. Essentially, it was a white-collar minimum wage job. Can't recommend it enough.
The like to view ratio is criminal, gl bro 😭🙏🏿
Nice love your videos
Great video, also don't work where they won't hire/help/serve you.
THE GOAT UPLOADED
I work part time at a gas station and I live in Michigan so we do bottle returns, so when someone purchases a carbonated drink it adds a ten cent bottle return fee because you get ten cents per bottle, bro got one and asked if he’d get charged for the bottle return and I said yes, then he proceeded to say that “If you’re going to do that they should have a bottle return machine in here”
Sir, you can go to a Dollar general and get a drink with no bottle return and it’ll still give you that ten cent fee, any fizzy drink purchased under states that do returns will add that fee no matter what
My very first jobs was sales & we got commission...i thank God now i have a pension & work part time @ a pizza joint mon- wed only ....i xan say to the younger humans.... don't let a job like that consume you if your sick stay home if your shift is over go home if you don't want to ho in on your days off... DON'T!
Only cover if you are able to/want to, don’t cover a shift if you already have plans or just won’t make it or aren’t sure, just don’t cover It at that point cuz it’s your day off, I know that some managers would see it as something that it’s not but it’s your day off so you don’t have to cover It if you can’t or if you just don’t want to,if you can and want to then go for it but there’s also been times when I’ve wanted to cover someone’s shift but wasent able to due to school or because of other things
damn i was gonna apply for a job at a grocery store today
thanks for the tips
awsome vid duck
Me watching this just in time for my interview tomorrow
the nerd teeth and glasses get me all the time thanks for adding me in the videos
When I was working at a grocery store they told me to go down to our little parking garage and chase away the kids smoking weed. I asked my boss "Why? Are you afraid their gonna come in here and buy food"
If you Board at your job
Make shure all the products are symmetrical all straight none of them off by a centimeter
Love ur Stories xD
Yo this vid was funny asf 😭
I remember starting a restaurant job during the pandemic because my main job laid me off and a former coworker I use to work with who worked at that restaurant needed an extra body. I decided to try it because I needed money. I thought I was going to hate it but truth be told, it was probably the most fun and chill time. With how strict the dine in mandates were and customers are forced to do takeout and food delivery apps. It’s just an empty restaurant with no customers to deal with except friends. Basically you were on your phone watching vids all day/night, eat, piss and shit, and get paid.
Still work at the local pizza chain as delivery pay sucks but all the homies work there and the owner is chill enough so better then to work with a garbage team for a couple bucks extra
Get a job at a restaurant as a server or busboy. Youll be one of if not the richest in your friend group cuz of tips. It might take time with no experience but if you live in the city there will eventually be one restaurant that’s desperate and hiring (id say maybe at the very least have 6 months of food service if its not working out even at a fast food place could help). However with good pay comes really aids work so be prepared.
Guys trust me when I say the last one about how to not look at the time. That shi* is so damn true, like DO NOT look at the time it will make you feel like your going through life legit minutes by minutes (even though that’s what we do). Just find something to do or talk to someone do legit anything but look at the time.
thx the duck
im glad seeing this vid
I grew up in a very wealthy area and most people I know still had a minimum wage job at one point in high school regardless of how rich they were. I had a friend that drove his dad’s aston Martin to his Panera shift which probably didn’t make some of the other employees very happy
I went from being in a cold warehouse sawing frozen chicken to workin @ 20th century fox studios 🙌🏽
Sadly a lot of companies have "now hiring" signs up all year long now
And also a lot of companies are implementing computer over sight... most of all if you are working on a computer.
My last job tracked every fking mouse click, so performance reviews were all up in your business about how long you were taking in EVERY SINGLE PROGRAM/APPLICATION... you would pass the "handle time" in general but fail because your handle time in (X) program is too long...... and the annoying thing about that is most the time it was long because the computers were old windows XP computers trying to run windows 10.
the thing is I want to have a job soon to earn some money to invest but my parents don't want me to work until I am done with university
Im just happy that my first job wasnt a minimum wage job. I ended up getting hired at tesla making 27 an hour i think there is a $2-3 differential bc of night shift. But it makes it easy for me to study in college too
I love your videos
best thing to pass time is to set yourself a quite lengthy goal, like scan 500 items and then look at the time, if you don't like what time it is fuck it set the goal higher and higher
Should also tell the people depending if ur in a small town or not ur not gonna get a job in the town and have to go else where . (Me after applying to 45 places around my town)
yo duck we missed you
Working at Guitar Center, my favorite line was always “You guys are about to lose your best customer, I’m never shopping here again, I spend thousands here, etc” I’m like bye please don’t come back haha
So I worked a minimum wage job in The Netherlands and after that, I landed an IT job and I must say: a minimum wage job is so bad, they just milk you for money and make you do everything, but it’s a really good starting point to have as you will not be lazy on your next job, but actually want to provide and I think that will land you bonuses in the long run. Had a good experience at a min wage job, made some friends, but I’m happy I quit and looked for something better
Thing is, I did some practice jobs during my private school days. And there were some I didnt mind, while others were ether annoying or confusing. I prefer the kinds of jobs that lets you move around. But if there is something you don't want to see me doing. . .is handling the cash register. I am not a math dragon, and I would rather be moping floors or finding dent or out of place items.
Everyone should work a min wage job. I make enough to where my future kids never need to worry, but they will work in retail or the service indistry.
NAH THE OUTRO WAS A MAD BANGER
man people in my country who work at a minimum wage job or own a tiny store sometimes try to liven things up and hang out with the customer (also that happens in kfc and pizza hut )
I had a job were it was common to offer someone 50% of the hourly rate to cover your shift. So the person covering the shift got a bunch of extra money for covering a shift.
If you got the time, turn yourself into the person who covers all the shifts. Other employees will pay you handsomely for it.
15 + 7.5 = 23.5 per hour!
well if that was the case, I would gladly do it too
My last job when he asked me why I straight up said that Covid derailed me and I hadn't had a job in 4 years. Seriously just be honest with that one. Worked as a dishwasher for 8 month till that Chef contract expired with the restaurant.
I plan on being an archaeologist
Fast Food work is hell.
you should make a podcast of your stories like ur brother burdie :)
I would do retail. Because that would be easy and fun.
Another tip which is almost like a side step of finding who the non chill people are and dont talk to them is that find out who the snitches are. Not that you should be doing anything too stupid but managers expect that you will be goofing off every now and again. Do not associate with the snitches because people will think you're one and not talk to you making time go by slower. If you want, you could prob ask other employees who are chill and have been working there for a longer time
i love you man ❤
I never worked in the fast food business
Im 15 and im working on a comic store
I was a min wage college math and physics tutor. I wanted to get a teaching gig.
my job gave me a 43K Christmas bonus because I said I needed a few bucks for Christmas
Where do I sign up? 😂
I worked at a supermarket, a fast food place, and a kids indoor park. All of them sucked XD
W video, W RUclipsr.
If somebody says they’re first they’re not
