Yeah I know, crazy!! But there are certainly a few which I'm sure other smarter people than me could start listing...I'll pin this comment for some fun, I'm curious, depends as well if we're talking modern day dominance or historical?
Ma Long came close in table tennis for quite some time. But Magnus is even more dominant. I fully understand that he doesn't want to play another classical championship.
Haha thanks and Napoleon sucked so bad, I even took time out to go to the cinema and watch it on my own, hard to believe same guy who brought us Gladiator!
Great game but also... great commentary! Easily now the best online chess website. ...Thanks for another speedy, succinct and crystal-clear analysis. As always, just perfect for the lay chess enthsiast.
Best one was that 136 move game vs nepo in game 6 of the world champ match where he grinded nepo down with knight and rook vs queen after sacking his own queen in the midgame.
Just wanted to say I love your videos! I watch every time you upload. Love the pace you keep, when you go down alternate lines, all the cheeky jokes etc. My favorite chess channel by far. Well done, sir.
It was a positional masterclass. In the tv studio today one of the guests was Simen Agdestein, Norways first GM and his chess teacher in the short time Magnus went to high school to study chess. I too was stunned by Kd8 and later c7, but Agdestein was familiar with the plan, he mentioned a game against Johnathon Speelman. Thanks James.
@@epicchess2021 I have since checked , the Agdestein game, a brilliant win, but he didn’t play the idea. Much of the rest with the knights dominating bishops was the same though.
Total domination by magnus carlsen . Other player never get any chance to fight. But really carlsen is BRINGING life to chess. I hope he try this in classic chess. Rapid and blitz are heavy time pressure match and people blunder unnecessarily. But liked your joke. 《This guy was once a world champion.》he won 10 times and by far the GREATEST player in chess history. Aanand kasparov karpov and fischer morphy no body has tried risky opening or sideline opening. Magnus is going where nobody has ever gone. In his own LEAGUE
This game felt more like watching a high level jiu jitsu bout! Totally amazing how both players keep on slowly manoeuvring and moving forward, but in the end Magnus just chokes him out. Brilliant.
Carlsen was asked on Norwegian TV what his thoughts were on potentially facing Niemann in the tournament. He said he certainly hoped he will not face Niemann as that would have meant that he was playing poorly. I hope they face eachother in the blitz section 😀
Magnus making a very wise decision, imo. He could go further in theory and lose his mind, like Fisher. he might end up hating Chess too. Instead, after winning everything there was to win, he (imo) relaxes, has more fun and enjoys other things in life. Kuddo's to you Sir Magnus, you are a true Legend.
You ever seen that movie from the 90s where everyone had to be average, and being exceptional resulted in govt intervention like awk weighted boots on the feet of the best dancers etc. I get the sense Kramnik would watch it with feelings of relief
Highly entertaining commentary as always. 50k subscribers is only a week or two away I reckon and then onwards and upwards. Great game choice and analysis!
@@automatescellulaires8543 hahaha :D well I think you´re joking but if not than take a look again ;P Ofc he is not stockfish who sees every mate in 15 or even 20 but mostly his moves are super precise so that even stockfish likes them, maybe 85%+ overall accuracy
But the question remains: Does Magnus win by a superior knowledge of the position, or because he sees much further into the position? We could say both, but which is more critical for his successes?
Why? He has defendet 5 time, He would have def if firru...a had won the runner up. He still enjoy chess and will develop it more He says, what do that mean to you?? Nr 1 in world for over 10y.
An awesome show from an awesome guy. Carlsen is such a good ambassador for the sport. Love watching him do what he does best! Also, great coverage. I’ve just subbed.
Followed the championship, terrible broadcast, fantastic games. This particularly game I knew right away it was a draw, there is no room for progress. And then Magnus proved me wrong again. Yes, it's art at the highest level and I think these games will be studied even next century. Thx for covering this game 🎉
Thanks that there where no "funny" memes interruptions, your recaps are far too classy for that imo, love you original style man, there is enough clown content around this days
He is great but imagine Kasparov, Capablanca, Botvinnik, Tal or Fischer with the computer access he has enjoyed. It would have been fun to see him play any of these greats in their prime.
That really is a wonderful game. Epic Chess often oversells with clickbait headlines, but this one is truly marvelous, switching from one side of the board to the other, maneuvering everything.
The Beaver's Claws? In Russia? Come on. James, this is the infamous Double Plow. You coined it. A Reversed Double Plow, because it isn't Carlsen playing it. That white knight to f1 after Kd8 and then Kc7, that sounded like a sniff in a silent stadium, followed by someone's footsteps going after a Roger Federer dropball. Ridiculous move.
Magnus shouldnt play against a person from Russia. Europe is in a proxy war with Russia, didnt he notice that in his little over protected chess world.
Who else dominates their sport like this? 😳👏
Yeah I know, crazy!! But there are certainly a few which I'm sure other smarter people than me could start listing...I'll pin this comment for some fun, I'm curious, depends as well if we're talking modern day dominance or historical?
Max Verstappen in F1
Ma Long came close in table tennis for quite some time. But Magnus is even more dominant. I fully understand that he doesn't want to play another classical championship.
Jordan Brady magnus
Phil Taylor dominated like Magnus but not many other people
The metaphors are great; better than the recent Napoleon movie for sure.
Haha thanks and Napoleon sucked so bad, I even took time out to go to the cinema and watch it on my own, hard to believe same guy who brought us Gladiator!
Hello i'm french. This movie doesn't exists. At least that's what i have been told.
When I saw that early king march with black against such a strong player I was shaking my head in disbelief of his positional ideas. True genius!
Great game but also... great commentary! Easily now the best online chess website. ...Thanks for another speedy, succinct and crystal-clear analysis. As always, just perfect for the lay chess enthsiast.
Thanks very much!
Magnus the Wise, playing like a damn Magician 🎩 😂
After the game he had 2 magic shows, and he needed a volunteer .
Carlsen's game against Vidit in this rapid event was one of the best endgames ever played!
yeah defo, covered that one yday
@@epicchess2021
Naka says that Magnus's endgame is much stronger than other GMs, and by a wide margin.
He's not wrong.
Best one was that 136 move game vs nepo in game 6 of the world champ match where he grinded nepo down with knight and rook vs queen after sacking his own queen in the midgame.
With commentary like that, you're sure helping to popularise the game!
thanks a lot glad you're enjoying!

oh really fair enough then, looks so weird if you don't know the idea! Thanks a lot
@@epicchess2021 I have since checked , the Agdestein game, a brilliant win, but he didn’t play the idea. Much of the rest with the knights dominating bishops was the same though.
Did you know, that Agdestein was a player on Norways national team in football some years ago
@@renemortensen2404 yes played eight times for them scored one goal, which they showed on the programme yesterday.
And this is Blitz, I wouldn't have found that beautiful Attack on the king side in a correspondance game against a Patzer. So Awesome.
If Magnus’ opponent had 12 Queens, and all Magnus had was one Pawn…Magnus would still win.

Wow. Magnus pulled him apart like a roasted chicken.
Magnus: Enjoy your bishop pair looking at pawns all game.
This game felt more like watching a high level jiu jitsu bout! Totally amazing how both players keep on slowly manoeuvring and moving forward, but in the end Magnus just chokes him out. Brilliant.
Was hoping you'd do this game! What a demolishment!
0:10 Kramnick looks like he's about to paint his Sistine Chapel in the form of sharting his pants
Epic chess continues to be the goat at chess game recaps. Always exciting and comedic. Keep up the great vids.
Thanks very much
What a beautiful game🎉
I love the way you talk about the games. Helps me understand so much more than just watching, keep up the good work 👍

Madness Michelangelo Carlsen did it again - you are running out of superlatives 😅
yeah haha, I go on the online thesaurus at times lol
Magnus spotted one move threat !….. excellent, incisive commentary 😊😊😊
Haha thanks glad you enjoyed!
Hi from Oslo Norway! ) Thanks for this very entertaining recap of the final game -- well done! :)
"token checks" another chess literature gift. Thank you Epic
Kramnik: Dis is suspicious
You ever seen that movie from the 90s where everyone had to be average, and being exceptional resulted in govt intervention like awk weighted boots on the feet of the best dancers etc. I get the sense Kramnik would watch it with feelings of relief
Magnus build a large cage against Fedoseev, in the middle of the game i thought this would be a zugszwang game again like in the world cup
Some parts near the end are reminiscent of the famous Zugzwang game between Samisch and Nimzovich, as White gets steadily more restricted.
Ah cool good point !
These videos are just getting funnier and funnier. I'm even finding myself drawn away from Levi to watch these!!
Appreciate it glad you’re enjoying !
i love your casual kind of humor, reminds me of finegold :) thx for making videos.
Haha thank you
Won the Rapid and the Blitz. Truly a dominate performance.
Look who's come in 12th! One of my favourite Ruskies, the other is Grish...
This performance was so good, FIDE checked him for beads after the game
😂
hahaha
Somebody said Kasparov is the man with a 1000 eyes,he's a cyclops compared to Magnus.
haha yeah, I just referenced Kasparov in my latest video right now as well!
Talk about a bishop pair from hell, but to the wrong colour 😂
Highly entertaining commentary as always. 50k subscribers is only a week or two away I reckon and then onwards and upwards. Great game choice and analysis!
Thanks a lot!
Excellent commentary. At the right pace just for not so rapid players;)
thanks a lot!
Thanks for the video! Well explained, and I love your enthusiasm! Cheers.
Thanks a lot!
But yeah this game truly was a positional masterpiece from startto finish
sick game - if you analyze the game like this you can understand the difference between your own moves and the ones of magnus, impressive stuff
I did that after reading your comment. But it was false advertising. Both his and my moves ,looks pretty random to me.
@@automatescellulaires8543 hahaha :D well I think you´re joking but if not than take a look again ;P Ofc he is not stockfish who sees every mate in 15 or even 20 but mostly his moves are super precise so that even stockfish likes them, maybe 85%+ overall accuracy

It's like you are commentating football, well done mate!
I didn’t understand so many of these moves. These guys are over my head
what a beautiful game, thanks Epic

Beaver claw became very popular in Russia
What a treat of a game.

But the question remains: Does Magnus win by a superior knowledge of the position, or because he sees much further into the position? We could say both, but which is more critical for his successes?
the way I see it they sort of go hand in hand don’t they
Masterpiece of a game, deserves an EPIC analysis, and that you do every time indeed, thank you.
Thanks a lot glad you enjoyed!
Beautiful game and great analysis!
Thanks a lot glad you enjoyed!
If Magnus wants to be considered number 1 he should have defended his world title.
I agree but, he already defended 5 times already.
Why is that so?
Why? He has defendet 5 time, He would have def if firru...a had won the runner up.
He still enjoy chess and will develop it more He says, what do that mean to you??
Nr 1 in world for over 10y.
Hey buddy nice presentation of a really good game between the classes! Thanks buddy happy holidays!
Thanks a lot and you
Screw beaver claw - the Plow is perfect.

Maybe in heaven
I don't see them trying the opening nonsense Magnus is doing in Blitz and rapid at the moment.
He still wins, his genius is he would bring them to the end game equal and win anyway.
love your commentary haha
Monsoir? With these summaries you r really spoiling us
Hahaha
M'n, it seems your metaphors have taken over the joy of Magnus' game. 😅😅😅
That really is a wonderful game. Epic Chess often oversells with clickbait headlines, but this one is truly marvelous, switching from one side of the board to the other, maneuvering everything.
magnus is a monster
Haven't followed Magnus or Chess as closely as I'd like to, but does Magnus play classical chess anymore? Everything I see is blitz.
Yeah he’s playing Tata steel this month for example
Doing awesome work, sir! Thanks from a chess lifer!

Very good show, but is your show filmed from a closet,it looks like that, and that is so cool :)
Yeah haha but I took doors off 😆

7:14 "lining up the cannon at the rear"... c'mon bro...

Magnus shouldnt play against a person from Russia. Europe is in a proxy war with Russia, didnt he notice that in his little over protected chess world.
