  • In April and May 2023 we cycled with our packed gravel touring bikes from Tokyo to Fukuoka in Japan. In this video part 2 of 2 you can see where we were heading after arriving in Imabari. We have rode the world famous Shimanami Kaido, also called the bridge tour. Back on the island of Honshu we went to historic Hiroshima and on to the last main island of Kyushu. There we drove once across the Aso-Kuju National Park to the active Nakadake Crater. The last stage took us to the final destination of Fukuoka.

Hi Corry & Mike, I'm curious how do you secure your bikes/belongings when exploring the places you stop at? Will be doing a similar trip soon, tokyo to fukuoka, but truncated at parts somehow because of limited days.
    Thanks for making this video!

Hi there and thanks for your comment. If we explored places we left our stuff in the hostel/hotel. Locking the bikes in public places is pretty safe but we never left any panniers on the bikes. In bigger cities there are always lockers available like at train stations that you can use. Enjoy your trip, it's an awesome country to travel. Regards from Bangkok

No, we do not use Strava but Komoot. See the link in the description for a gpx download or visit our webpage www.on-the-way.ch/auszeiten/bike-weltreise/japan/ . Regards from Thailand 👋
