forget how good beckham was at his best, how he ran twice as far as anyone else every game and covered every inch of the ground, his passing/shooting/dribbling were all world class too

After his retirement, Laudrup went on to become a coach. The last job I remember him taking up was the Swansea manager's role for the 2013-14 season. I don't know what became of him after that.

I believe there's no such a thing like passing, assisting, it's an art! as I used to play back in the days as an attacking mid I used to love assisting people even more than scoring my goal. It's just an art......Ronaldinho assists for me used to be the best, people say about his entertainment and tricks but forget how he used to assist way more than score, it was so magical to watch!

No way anyone can be consistent when you are used as a jack of all trades, that´s actually why he is so underrated.
Guti played one or two great games and disappeared for the next 10 games. He made some magnificent passes but lack of consistency.

I got goosebumps when ronaldinho was up. Absolutely the greatest football player of all time. Those "back" passes are so imaginative. And the comfortability and confidence he has to maneuver away from the defender.

Actually this list should be separated, good passer can mean either:
1. A player who can deliver many killer passes and assists (Ozil, Sneijder)
2. A player who is good and accurate in long passes (Pirlo, Alonso)
3. A player who is good accurate in crosses (Beckham)
4. A player who is good at keeping possession and posses high pass accuracy percentage (Busquets, Jorginho, Fernandinho etc.)

Beckham's ball was alive, Xavi's ball was perfact, Özil's ball was beautiful, Totti's ball was soft, Ronaldinho's ball was un predictable, Alonso's ball was like a jet, Gutti's ball was hard to intercept, Pirlo's ball was like a magnet, Scholes' ball looked easy, but it was hard to do, Laudrup's ball was skilled, and Messi's ball tricked everyone.

Actually, he sometimes lacks vision to place it to the receivers lane, whenever I say he's not that good of a top tier playmaker, even though he has the precision, some fanboys go crazy over it.
When Guti passed it, he passed it to the foot of his teammate that's gonna have the advantage to make the shot, when Beckham crossed, the whole defensive line got complacent, when Scholes made a long pass, it was directly onto the players foot.
Messi didn't start as a deep playmaker, he's a wing-forward of a time that thrives in speed.

A couple of great passes doesn't make a great passer. Also getting lots of assist when playing alongside Messi or CR doesn't make you a great passer either. There are three things need as a great passer: vision, execution and difficulty. The greatest passer are those who see opportunities earlier than other player, execute those passes and are able make even the most difficult of passes. Messi is by the player who matches that criteria on this video. Messi sees it early, (like Fabregas, who is not on this but is a better passer than many because he sees early than almost any player playing right now.), almost always executes and makes the most difficult passes look simple, like every thing the little man does.

The flick on passes are fun to watch, and definitely require great talent. However, xavi playing a zipping through ball that splits a defense with the precision of a surgeons scalpel is just an entirely different realm of vision, teammate chemistry, and technique. He places those grounded passes flawlessly, dismantles the opposition, and does it with seemingly no effort. He is a legend for sure.

Dennis Bergkamp was never as good a passer as Beckham. Passing was the only tool Beckham had in his locker and he used it well. Bergkamp was only more creative.
Robert Odihi Beckham was a crosser more than a passer; he used to play by the right side only. Bergkamp used to play before the "9", but sometimes like an original "10" (organizer), and he could assist with closed eyes even from sides. He was very accurate but in short and mid distance, not long (crossing) like Beckham.
