Prior, in my opinion has negative charisma… in other words NONE. I despised him way back when, and it took me all of 30 seconds to dislike him. Darnell did himself no favor in choosing this sleazy attorney, and the payoff will be when this jury convicts him, which I have no doubt that they will.
The only persons more despicable than Daybell in that courtroom was Prior and Daybell’s daughter, who came off as arrogant, and clearly doing her best to lie for her monster of a father. I hope she’ll be charged with perjury… maybe that will knock her down a few pegs. At the very least, all of the parents of the children she and her equally despicable husband should demand that neither of them have any contact with their children, or for that matter, ANY children. Their wacky belief system is right in line with Chad’s, and that alone makes both of them a danger to any children they come in contact with… including their own children.

He’s desperate, so he’s succumbed to intimidation tactics 😂😂😂 I have remained unbiased throughout this trial. I’m one of a few that supports prior and understands he’s just doing his job. With that being said, that was the weakest close I’ve ever heard. But then again his defense is terrible and they were climbing up a steep hill from the beginning with all that evidence against chad.

    • @kateashby3066

@@frankjarvie643piggy backing on what I just said- 99% of viewers are biased against prior just because he’s defending Chad. Y’all crucified him on day one and have never stopped. Defense lawyers aren’t supposed to be likable. Those lawyers don’t win. It’s fair to say they shouldn’t be super unlikable either- or rather, offensive to the jury. And I don’t think prior has been TOO bad, altho obnoxious at times. If jurors find Chad guilty because they don’t lie prior, they have no business being jurors (and god help them in day to day life too). Prior has done a decent job considering he has an impossible case. He mentioned Tammy’s weight because it supports his argument that she died bc she wasn’t healthy. But you guys got offended by that too. I come to Peter because it’s a break from all the biased input ppl have been spewing for weeks now. It’s refreshing.

    • @frankjarvie643
      @frankjarvie643 4 месяца назад +33

@@kateashby3066 I don’t care about whether or not the jury is supposed to decide on guilt or innocence without considering the likability of the defense council, because every member of that jury is a human being and if the defense council is so obnoxious, as I found Prior to be, whether they admit it or not, it absolutely can be a factor in their decision. Right or wrong, it cannot be denied that the likability may very well be a factor in the jury’s decision.
And by the way, I’m 82 years old, I’m an intelligent and educated individual, so I while I understand your point, I don’t need you to school me. I can actually come to a logical conclusion all on my own, and if you don’t agree, that’s entirely on you. Lecturing me does nothing to change my opinion that Prior made no friends with this jury. In fact, there was just one thing that this jury may have appreciated that Prior said, and that was when he made that little slip when he referred to Tammy Daybell’s death as a murder.
As for how well he did in defending Dsybell, I think he did the best he could with what he had to work with, but he asked a little of questions he didn’t know the answer to, and too many times, in my opinion, his questions to one or more witnesses were argumentative, and I don’t think for a minute that that escaped the jury’s attention. His fatal mistake, again, in my opinion was putting Daybell’s daughter on the stand, who not only came off as unlikeable, and a liar, but her comment about her father not liking dogs did her father no favors. There’s an old assumption that many, if not most, dog owners have about people who don’t like dogs and the assumption is that anyone who doesn’t like dogs has something wrong with them. So Daybell better hope that every one of those jurors dislikes dogs as much as he does.
Bottom line for me. I’ve seen a whole lot of defense attorneys do a much better job than Prior, and again, if you think that his likability isn’t going to play into the jury’s decision, conscious or not, you’re fooling yourself.
In Trump’s New York criminal trial, both Trump and his attorney, I have no doubt, were disliked by by the jury, and it’s not going to play well for Trump.
Way back when, Clarence Darrow, in defending the Leopold and Leob murder trial, his goal wasn’t to defend the indefensible by claiming that the boys were innocent… his goal was simply to keep the boys from facing the death penalty.
Again, just my opinion, but Prior, instead of trying to prove Daybell’s innocence, which I saw as an impossible task, might have taken a clue from Darrow, and instead of defending the indefensible, instead, work to save Daybell from the death penalty. I don’t doubt that there are very few people in this country who have from the beginning, held on to the belief that Daybell was 100% guilty.
One final thought. I did not crucify Prior simply because he defended Daybell. My dislike of him was simple based on the fact that his demeanor came across as arrogant, and to me, that was never going to bode well for him or his client. So your claim that we all crucified Prior because he defended Daybell is, in my opinion, an assumption based on your own bias.

@@frankjarvie643 you are on point about human beings not being able to be unbiased. They can try and may believe they are with their conscious mind, but the conscious mind is not where our decisions are made no matter how much we believe we have all that free will. It's the information in our subconscious mind, that has been gained in all our years of living, that determines all our conscious decisions.

Prosecutor Blake pulled a complex story together brilliantly. Her timeline was clear. Her evidence was placed where it needed to be. Blake repeated the key underlying facts crucial to prove the conspiratorial nature of the case, like “Lori believed Chad 100%” “Alex believed Chad 100%”. “These ideas came from Chad”. Each pronouncement was followed by evidence. Wow! Blake pulled it all together and made the story both compelling and believable…..I could walk along those steps which led to three murders right along with her. Prior to the closing, I worried a little that the story was so complex, it would be difficult to condense it in a way that could be followed by a jury hearing it all for the first time. Blake accomplished her mission. Impressive!

Me too. I’ve been on this for four years. Causing physical pain to innocent children! How could Lori ever trust this sick, evil, man. She is as sick as he is. I’ve considered that too. But there’s a LOT of evidence that is extremely incriminating and easy to understand once you understand the main players (Alex, lori, Chad, then Tammy and the kids as the victims). They just need to simplify it, discuss it, and find him guilty. I have no doubt they will get there, at LEAST on the conspiracy charge.

I would want that and to review that before I decided guilty. There is so much evidence to think about and review that I would want to know where to go to help me decide. Prior was WAY to long, especially after saying he was gonna be quick. Did not help Chad's case at all. I'd be pissed as a juror if he spoke to me like that. And the trials will still continue in Arizona for Charles murder. Personally, Tylee's father's death needs to be looked into as with Chads neighbor. I think Chad and Lori or Zulema killed Alex because he knew too much. It could be suicide but they bullied him to do it and that's murder in my eyes. Lori and Chad should be under a prison, not in one. Both are terrifying. How many people would have died if they hadn't been caught? At least 2 of Melanie's kids had, what, a day left? Oh, and Melanie's ex husband, that was attempted murder. They need to be prosecuted for that. Too many people were affected badly by these 2. Anyone think they can change if they went through some kind of therapy? I guess it doesn't matter. They should not ever leave prison. 😊

It makes me sick that they were raised to defend Chad at all cost and talk about their own mom like they did. Chad has to know they his kids could be charged with lying and go to jail for him. I can't imagine any parent that would sit back and let that happen. They didn't have to testify right?

I love how Pryor throws Lori under the bus about lying to the cops on the wellness check EXCEPT when she says she's going to go live with Melanie Gibb, it's all of the sudden gospel truth

It's ALWAYS a woman's fault, according to Chad and Prior. Tammy (too fat, too vanilla), Lori (too promiscuous, too many husbands, too tempting to Chad), Heather (pot stirrer) etc.

I heard there were a couple jurors that kept closing their eyes during closing statements for defense

I love her closing arguments! I personally am happy she was so thorough and took the time she spent laying all of it out for the jury. The time line and explanation of instructions. As a jury member, I would have needed that. I have been following since the beginning because he was in the same lds mission I served in and creeped me out. And still hearing all the evidence presented to jury in lori’s case and this one and all the stuff on line… this brought it all together for me and got me to the point that I could not, not believe he was 100 million percent evil and beyond guilty. I already believed but I needed to feel that the jury would believe. It was beautiful.
Also, why on earth are they just now closing the blinds behind Chad and Prior?!?! So much better!!
Even though zooming in on them through out the trial has been a bit grainy, you could see the arrogance on both of their faces. This is the first time I can see prior looking scared, worried, and concerned that there is nothing he can do to persuade the jurythat chad is innocent. I believe the reason prior tried to be released as Chad’s lawyer was because he knew there was no case. He had nothing he could use to defend Chad. As much as I have hated prior and his mean horrible bully tactics, he fought hard for Chad and no one can say Chad didn’t get, the representation required for a fair trial. Im sad for his kids.

Guilty on all counts, Prior was all over the place and the idea that Chad was a victim was disgusting. Blake did a great job!

Guilty beyond any doubt, not a shrewd of even unreasonable doubt.

I was concerned when John focused on the jurors instructions, however he eventually lost his way and Lindsay brought it home with her final close, verdict GUILTY

I think Lindsay Blake was powerful. She does not need to raise her voice to be effective and her silences let the words sit perfectly. I didn't feel it long, there was a lot to expose and she wasn't boring we needed a recap and I liked it a lot
