quilt basting spray: if you can't get it you can also try ultra-hold hair spray; if you're trying hairspray as fixative for the first time, and you intend to use it on a paper stencil, test it first on a stencil you can afford to throw away
Hey! Just ordered a custom stencil from you. Excited to get to work on my project but first I have a question. I’ve never stenciled anything before with paint. I’m working on an oil painting. Can I paint a stencil using oil paint? Thanks
you can! but you shouldn't put the stencil on a wet surface. that leaves you three options: 1. use a single-layer stencil only, and only at the beginning 2. wait a really long time between layers 3. spray a light spray paint down to use as a template for where to paint with your brush I've had the best results with the last option
oh, and if you don't care about the stencil smearing the layer underneath, then you can put a stencil down on wet paint. but it's going to smear for sure
I trust 3M to know about chemical protection (because they make so many sprays and chemicals). I also believe in reusable materials, and multi-purpose stuff for around the house. Unless you're a professional muralist and spend hours using spray, i would go with this one: www.amazon.com/3M-Respirator-6200-Respiratory-Protection/dp/B007JZ1N00/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?keywords=Best+Painting+Respirator&qid=1664738121&qu=eyJxc2MiOiI0LjIzIiwicXNhIjoiNC4xNyIsInFzcCI6IjMuNzYifQ%3D%3D&sr=8-3 I wear glasses so don't want the full face mask. Remember, like with all masks the most important things after the specs are fit and comfort. The best mask is the mask you wear!

what material of stencil board is that? and how do you cut it?
we cut in heavy duty card stock and also 7 mil mylar, using craft and laser cutter for both mediums
0:46 what kind of mask it that called on the right? I like to get one for safety as I spraypaint
