  • Had this bar for a bit but never made content on it as it's very similar to the other Hansu bars I own. Overall it's a solid bar like the rest, if the price is right!

    For a Zinc finish PB, the 29mm Texas Power Bar is really hard to beat now @$265. If they produced a stainless option, then given the build quality and pedigree of Capps, it would be my first choice of any power bar.

    • @SteezySteez2011
      @SteezySteez2011 4 месяца назад +1

      Absolutely. I think I paid $310 or something close when they first released the 29mm bar. To see them go on sale was huge, and I truly think they’re the best bars in the game.

      @@SteezySteez2011 The thing I love about Capps is there is never any doubt about the build quality and engineering. It always feels to me like you’re taking a chance on these newer players. The list of world records and accolades obtained using Capps bars is staggering. And to see them cheaper than almost all of its competition…. No brainer for me.

      I like my TPBs, but they can be somewhat inconsistent depending on who's on the lathe and the tooling. The roll pin design also leads to a lower sleeve tolerance in my experience. But for made in USA and the history it's hard to beat.

      @@BasementBrandon I really wish they did a stainless option. I’ve emailed them asking, but never got a reply.

      I was a little disappointed my end cap didn’t have the IPF logo as shown on their website.

    Love a good barbell review from u mate. Probably my highest rated content. That colour looks interesting. Was going to ask if it was the lighting but clarified it appeared copper. Been busy recently. Still have to consume the updated gym review u posted a few weeks back 🤙🏼

      Hah all good, appreciate the kind words. Whenever I do a gym tour it's usually b/c I'm going to sell a bunch of stuff and need to document that I've owned it.

    Brandon so the Copper color is Zinc, does that mean the color is gonna fade fast just like Black Zinc does?????
    I really don't understand why anybody would buy a Black Zinc bar since Cerakote lasts So Much Longer.
    The Copper color is Sharp but Zinc that fades fast should hurt the sell of the bar.

    • @danredmond5589

      Cerakote seems to blunt the knurling somewhat.

    • @BasementBrandon
      @BasementBrandon  4 месяца назад +1

      As someone mentioned cerakote can blunt the feel a bit more and is typically more expensive.

      @@BasementBrandon
      Anybody that has lifted and been around as long as we have Brandon remembers buying black zinc bars because it was the 1st black bars made but then they faded so fast it was disappointing.
      We all know cerakote dulls knurling so you buy a bar with more bite, black zinc is not the answer for anything unless you're gonna keep the bar for 6 months-1 year.

      @BasementBrandon  4 месяца назад

      @@bobbyhunt3009 Yeah I tend to try to set peoples expectations about black zinc, it's pretty low on my preferred finish options, but then again I know a lot of people prob don't care and would lift with a rusted POS.

    Ok so the tale old question..
    REP DBD
    HANSU PL BAR
    OPB?

    • @danredmond5589
      @danredmond5589 4 месяца назад +1

      Texas 29mm hands down. For pedigree alone. I would rather use a toothbrush than an OPB in a 49mm rack.

      So out of all my bars I use my Hansu SS the most. However comp collars are a pain in the ass in my rogue rack.

    • @flushinganimalhospital3248
      @flushinganimalhospital3248 4 месяца назад

      I own all three. I'd rank them like this....
      1. SS Hansu - tightest sleeve tolderances of any bar I own. Longer center knurl is clutch for back squats. You don't understand how awesome this feature is, until you've used the bar. Great build quality. Very quiet bar.
      2. REP DBD SS - second tightest sleeve tolerances of any bar I own. Outstanding mountain knurl. Really clean terminations. Feels like a more aggro KPB, but with much higher build quality. The laser etching on the sleeves is a nice fit and finish touch. Very quiet, great bar! Highly recommend if you like mountain knurl.
      3. OPB - I have owned a ton of these and all have been underwhelming. Sloppy ass sleeves. Stainless versions ALWAYS have a more passive feeling knurl (with my AGGRO bar being the exception) than it's bare steel counterpart. Rogue is really bad about changing out the tooling often enough with stainless bars. So it's a roll of the dice, whether you'll get a good knurl or not. I love Rogue, own tons of their stuff. But their barbells are dead to me. I'd pick almost anything over a OPB.

    The red really looks cool. The price is a bit of a deal breaker since you can get the black zinc 20 KG Ohio Power Bar for about the same price. If I catch it on sale I'd grab one for a backup to my OPB.

    • @BasementBrandon
      @BasementBrandon  4 месяца назад +1

      Interestingly enough this bar has better feel and is quieter than my OPBs. Maybe once they update the 20kgs to have the newer sleeves it will be more even.

    Picked this exact bar up a couple of months ago. Got it when it was $214 before shipping and worth every penny. The "red" definitely has more of a copper/bronze look to it. Knurling feels good and grippy compared to both of my Rogue Ohio Power bar. If you can catch it on sale, it's worth the money imo.
