- "It's a good area to be in - it's an important area to be in," says Jamie Isaac, tapping his freshly rolled joint as he looks over the city skyline in The FADER's latest short film. He's talking about London, and specifically south east London: his birthplace, his home, and the place where he forms part of an artistic community that includes King Krule and Jesse James Solomon. Isaac's own music sits somewhere between the two: he's set to release Couch Baby, a debut LP of simmering electronic ballads, on July 8. "There's definitely a scene growing here," he elaborates. "There's more of a communal feel. There's just a better vibe, you know?"
Isaac invited The FADER into his home and onto his streets to learn more about his songwriting process, his love of jazz, and his anxiety around live performances. Hit play for an intimate snapshot of the artist, and the area that shaped who he is.

I recently came across Libera due to the Christmas season I was looking for the song carol of the bells and saw Tom Cully sing in other songs in Libera I was mesmerized by his Angelic voice and of the other boys I couldn't believe such a choir existed and now they are all grown up Jaime should be more recognised for his musical and vocal talents
I wish Tom/Jamie still mentoring the young members of Libera, keep the light burning Tom!
Tom Cully you are one of my favorite during your libera days. Your so cute, during my depression anxiety problem I always play all the songs especially Sanctus, far away adoramus, etc. It heals my soul. I'm so happy every time. Oh nothing, he just grew up and aged out of Libera. Now he has "rebranded" himself under this new stage name "Jamie Issac" and sings jazz/cafe music. Definitely not my genre :-( miss him being with Libera. I heard that he did not want to have anything to do with Libera now and doesn't like to talk about his time with the group. Makes me wonder what happened???
he was THE soloist of Libera, along with Josh, but he apparently doesn't like to talk about that at all, got banned from fb and twitter just for mentioning it :/
According to Wikipedia, it is the other way around. Tom Cully was a stage name with Libera, but that sounds a bit weird, having a stage name at such a young age.

I love watching all videos of you as Tom Cully mostly with no closed captions/subtitles. Although I am profoundly deaf and heard nothing of your beautiful voice, I still watch them over and over and YOU ARE THE BEST. Since that time, as Jamie Issac, you have much changed and shown your feelings, thoughts, opinions, etc. and written songs and produced films. That's great and superb! Not surprisingly, Jamie says he doesn't want to stray too far from London. But what do you do to top off where you've already been? As Tom Cully he was on world tours all over, record albums, meet the fans, press conferences, and a lot of fame being one of the soloists in a world famous boy's choir. It doesn't surprise me that he's so low key now, and lives quietly.

Yellow, the golden light of the sun, has always been Jamie Isaac’s favorite (mine too). This extraordinary young man is a great thinker and is exceptionally talented as many of you have recognized. He is willing to go all the way just for his love of music and arts, to always be relevant to the vanguard group of fellow musicians and artists, to appreciate the artworks each other creates and to share the joy and the pain whatever comes their way (to chill together). He wants to highlight the hardships of these folks that he relates himself to, and wants to do so via his own personal experiences and his creative artworks. He does not want to get ahead of his friends just because of his superstar charisma, but wants to live and succeed with them. His music has touched the hearts of numerous peoples. Just wish more of these same people have more faith in him and remain to be supportive of him and his friends.

i miss tom cully so damn much... he got out of like the really fun and spirtual group and went into the deepest kinda mysterious type of music.. he changed a lot and i really wish that the old tom comes back ❤❤
i can't believe people are really on here complaining about him not being himself. like everyone grows up and they change their taste in music. they mature. He still has a beautiful voice even better and more soulful now. He's only dropped like one album. He has so much potential and talent and it sucks that people tear that down just bc he's not in some spiritual choir anymore singing that style of music anymore like grow tf up people.

I agree. He blessed my heart so many times in Libera with his voice and sweet honest face. He still is handsome and has a great voice. But, it saddens me that he is living the lifestyle contrary to my perception of what he was all about. I still love him, and will pray Gods direction for his life.

when you sang as a child in libera, your sweet voice touched my life while I was going through a difficult time. And still does. God used you in such mighty and strong ways to sooth my soul. And you helped me fight against satan. And now though you do not sing godly hymns your adult voice is still amazing. I pray that you use your voice and talent for God's glory, that is why you were created, isn't that amazing! we are created to glorify God! wow I get chills as I type! I now pray for you very much. Now I pray that God opens your eyes of faith, and you turn from the lies of satan. I don't know you personally but I assume that satan has influenced you by the things of this world, maybe smoking, drugs, sex before marriage, getting high(which is modern day sorcery) self destruction, inner turmoil inherited sinful nature etc. sin. Karol Nazarim I like your comment, but getting high isn't necessarily modern day sorcery if the person isn't casting a spell. God made the marijuana plant which can be used in medicine to relieve pain and in His perfect wisdom, He must have known humans would also use it to feel good and get a buzz, as they do with alcohol. And Jesus drank alcohol, so getting a mild high effect either through mild drugs such as alcohol and, maybe even, pot, isn't anti-God.
Unjustified God's word says to be sober, and sober minded. getting high is not being sober. yes cannabis does have many amazing medicinal properties. I have even used cbd oil for pain. people use it for depression, cancer, muscle pain, but once you smoke it to get high. you are no longer sober, and you are entering the dark demonic realm. why do so many that smoke marijuana see the same demons or same"hallucinations" ? smoking it also causes many to hear voices that say to kill yourself, or end your life, I've worked at drug rehabilitation centers for many years. its not funny and not a joke. be sober. the choice is yours. I say this in christian love. besides there ain't no high like the most high! that is in Jesus Christ. why would you replace HIM with anything else : )

I don't smoke pot and l hate the smell, but l think it has good uses and not everyone who uses it hallucinates or uses it as a gateway to sorcery! In fact, l bet hardly anyone uses it for those purposes.

there's a big difference between enjoying a glass of wine or beer or stronger drink as medicine like our grandparents used before modern medicine came. O make herbal tinctures with stronger alcohol. you can even make cbd tincture, or oil without the chemical that gets you high. But getting high or drunk is sin, its not being sober, choose you this day who you will serve. your joint or the living only GOD. God the Father, God the Son( Jesus) and God the Holy Spirit, HIS love for you is higher than the highest high, I'm not trying to fearmonger you, but edify and build you up in your most holy faith praying in the Holy Ghost, to keep yourself in the love of GOD looking for the mercy of Jesus Christ unto eternal life

To complain about Jamies changes means to complain about the same power, that made him able to sing this unique interpretation of sacral songs. Art doesn't work like "Oh, I'm good in sacral music - lets do it for the rest of my life." It's an unpredictable power which leads you to inner places you didn't know that they exist. It can be soft and cruel, slowly and rushing, recklessness and hesitantly. But it's definitly not something which is been nourished by obeying to expectations of so called fans. He wants to be not only a singer but a creator. And he definitly is one from top to toe! If you listen to Jamies new music carefully you find complex and subtle pieces of acoustic art (combined with remarkable visuality in the videos and covers - to mention this as well). Wether it is ones favorite style of music or not: every piece is breathing a very unique spirit - fragile and deep testimonies of the groping and brave search of a young musician. I like, that he's in a darker side of acoustics at this moment - interesting contrast to his former music with a lot of potential of crispy developments. Refusing to be THE Tom Cully of Libera his whole life is more a proof of strenghs and seriosness of his artistic exploration than a loss or a weakness. I would have done the same if I went through the blessing and the burden of being a kind of child star. Well done, Dude! Before and now as well!

Yes, would love him no matter whatever kind of music he makes. He did his gift for us for Libera years. And it is enough. Way he is now is now up to him. We should respect everyone's freewill and be grateful for what we've got. Forever grateful for Jamie. Music he makes today is absolutely beautiful as well.

I was lead soloist in a choir a long time ago.
It something I did as a kid. I loved it, enjoyed it, and was popular doing it.
But it didn't define me. It wasn't me, it was something I did when I was a kid.
Can you imagine winning a school tennis competition when you were 9, and forever being called "the tennis guy" ?
Singing in the choir as a boy really developed my knowledge of, and love of, music. I would have loved to follow it up as a career, but I never did. Regrets ? No ! When I grew up, I became my own person, and as with every guy, it had little to do with what I did as a kid.
I am pretty sure that Jamie is proud of, and has great memories of his childhood with friends, singing in a choir that was groundbreaking. But that was then. I think it is wonderful for Jamie to progress his musical journey with a statement "This is who I am. Like it or hate it. Approve or dissaprove. I couldn't give a XXXX. I am not defined by who you think I am."
I will always appreciate what Jamie and his friends achieved at such a young age. It was beautiful. But it is also true that it is wonderful watching a seedling sprout from the ground. In time the seedling will flourish, grow, and mature into a flowering wonder. Only then will you see the colour and beauty of the flower.
I wish Jamie all the best. He could have lived impersonating the person many wanted him to be. But that is enormously selfish. It would be asking him to live a lie. To be a Peter Pan character. Would you like that if it was you ?
Tom may have grown up into Jamie. But his love for music never changed 😎

Don't be surprised if that never happens. The major labels don't seem interested in musical originality anymore, just formula music that will make them money. I think Jamie would be better off on an independent label, one that would appreciate his talents.

I miss the Tom Cully that could have been and should have been. It's like he is bitter about his success with Libera and life. If he had not been in Libera we would not have seen him, heard him, loved him and looked forward to the great things he would do as Tom Cully. You can want and desire anything but if it isn't working for you it's time to switch it up and he needs to get away from that sad slow awful shit he writes. He likes his work but he doesn't like himself and I can see that. He isn't happy. Truly happy and that makes me so sad for him. NOW, pick me apart for my opinion. I want to see Tom Cully make a comeback proud of himself and out of that dragging rutt., and by the way. Stop fanning what is not working for him and if you really care for him let him know it's okay to swallow your pride and step out of your comfort zone. He is stagnant where he is. I love you Tom.
There's no such thing as "could have been / should have been". You don't like his music now: fair enough. He does, and countless others do too. I just think his singing voice is magic. And if you want to add "still" before the 'magic', you can, and I'll agree.

@@stilljaded6575 What do you mean "Tom Cully is something he was forced to do"? Cully is his real name. And he could have told his parents he didn't want to sing in Libera - he wasn't a toddler when he was in the group. He looked about 12, so he definitely would have had a voice.
