@@josout6135 Not in the match itself. Germany should have won 3-1 since one legal goals was not allowed. We played to humiliate the Germans and we got what we deserved I think. To be the best team you just have to win the final. Dutch are very good in not winning finals unlike our neighbours.
I was five years old when I watched this match on TV, live. I remember thinking "how are they not cold and ill after playing in the rain like that?" sure, in my part of South America it only rains in the winter when it is cold, this World Cup was being played in the German summer, but it was our winter in the south and I as a child couldn't understand it yet. I love how they celebrated a goal back then. When you score 1-0 quite early on in the game, you don't go nuts unlike many players nowadaays because there is so much time left for the opponents to come back. Being ahead in the score but still losing in the end, your goal often doesn't mean anything anymore.
Sure, the generation in NL born just after WW2 had an excellent over my dead body mentality. Humble and did not like to use a lot of words (Cruyff being the exception). Best player on the field this match was Van Hanegem.

Bovendien won Feyenoord in 1974 ook nog eens (wat nu heet) de Euro League. Niet zo gek dus dat dáár een Nederlands Elftal uit werd geformeerd met één speler van Anderlecht en één van FC Amsterdam.

Very skilful mechanical orange if it was. I remember seeing this world cup and the Dutch were so far ahead in terms of skill than any other team. They were a team you'd rush home from school to watch, especially Cruyff. Brazil and Germany weren't.

Jacky, ik kan je vertellen: ik was die avond 13 en zat voor de tv, en wij waren toen zo verwend dat het ons bijna 'normaal' voorkwam, maar inderdaad de Argentijnen zijn die avond misschien hooguit 2 of 3 keer in de buurt van onze goal geweest, meer kan het niet geweest zijn. Deze wedstrijd was de meest perfecte van begin tot eind die oranje op dat wk speelde, afgezien alleen van de score die 6- of 7-0 had moeten zijn, en misschien ook geworden was zonder dat noodweer in de 2e helft.

I am Dutch too but Maradona was clearly a better player. Winning with teams that were really good, but surely not the best if it was not for Maradona. Just of another level that no one has reached before or after.
@@v10cylinder Even so most Dutch rate Maradona and Pele higher. Sure we were all saddened by his death but you would be surprised how the country was struck when Maradona died. We had TV specials about him I think for a much longer time than we had with Cruyff. That says something I believe.
@@Serenoj69 I am German but I fully recognize the great skills Cruyff had. He really was an outstanding player and the best of his time in his role. Probably even better than Beckenbauer, although their roles in their respective teams were quite different. But, as you said, Cruyff was not the best player ever. There are a few others, not many though, who were better: e.g. Pele, Maradona, Messi, C. Ronaldo. I also rate Ronaldo Gaucho in his (very short) prime higher than Cruyff.
@@v10cylinder Well the way people tend to look at football means that defenders almost never get elected as the best in the game. We have Beckenbauer, but also Baresi and Maldini who were probably as good as it gets when it comes to defending but somehow are not included as some of the best. In my book Messi is not in the top4. Take Napoli and Argentina in 1985 1990. It is a simple thought experiment. Now: we have seen what Diego did. Would Cruyff ligt both teams to a considerably higher level? I think so. Pele? I never saw him play so I don't know? Would Ronaldo do it? I think so. Would Messi do it? Yes but not in the way the others would. He is lacking quite a few things to be able to that to teams that are suboptimal. So Messi, while being superlative at what he does in my view cannot do what the others can. I am personally convinced when we take it all together none of them could do what Maradona did though. He is really in a class of his own.

Die Ajax- en Feyenoord-kliek had nl. van 1969 t/m 1973 vijf (wat nu heet) Champions League finales op rij gespeeld en er daarvan 4 gewonnen. Bovendien won Feyenoord in 1974 ook nog eens (wat nu heet) de Euro League. Niet zo gek dus dat dáár een Nederlands Elftal uit werd geformeerd met één speler van Anderlecht en één van FC Amsterdam.
@@ronaldent5781 Het is denk ik waar dat Feyenoord en Ajax in die periode de besten waren in Nederland (PSV was het iets later), maar ik denk dat kees422 vooral reageerde op de opmerking van Hans Timmermans over Jan van Beveren. En ik denk dat hij daar wel een punt heeft, hoewel Hans misschien een beetje ver gaat met zijn stelling dat met Van Beveren "Nederland zeker wereldkampioen geworden" zou zijn.

Very skilful mechanical orange if it was. I remember seeing this world cup and the Dutch were so far ahead in terms of skill than any other team. They were a team you'd rush home from school to watch, especially Cruyff. Brazil and Germany weren't.

Is Argentinië nog in de buurt van het Nederlandse strafschopgebied geweest die wedstrijd? Ik zag werkelijk geen één Argentijnse aanval, maar je het is wel een samenvatting.
Jacky, ik kan je vertellen: ik was die avond 13 en zat voor de tv, en wij waren toen zo verwend dat het ons bijna 'normaal' voorkwam, maar inderdaad de Argentijnen zijn die avond misschien hooguit 2 of 3 keer in de buurt van onze goal geweest, meer kan het niet geweest zijn. Deze wedstrijd was de meest perfecte van begin tot eind die oranje op dat wk speelde, afgezien alleen van de score die 6- of 7-0 had moeten zijn, en misschien ook geworden was zonder dat noodweer in de 2e helft.

I was born in 1964 and I grew up with Johan Cruyff, or JC. To me he is the best player ever. Better than Pele or Maradonna. JC was the best soccer player that ever lived. Too bad he died so young. No one comes close to this real legend: JC

I am Dutch too but Maradona was clearly a better player. Winning with teams that were really good, but surely not the best if it was not for Maradona. Just of another level that no one has reached before or after.
@@v10cylinder Even so most Dutch rate Maradona and Pele higher. Sure we were all saddened by his death but you would be surprised how the country was struck when Maradona died. We had TV specials about him I think for a much longer time than we had with Cruyff. That says something I believe.
@@Serenoj69 I am German but I fully recognize the great skills Cruyff had. He really was an outstanding player and the best of his time in his role. Probably even better than Beckenbauer, although their roles in their respective teams were quite different.
But, as you said, Cruyff was not the best player ever. There are a few others, not many though, who were better: e.g. Pele, Maradona, Messi, C. Ronaldo. I also rate Ronaldo Gaucho in his (very short) prime higher than Cruyff.
@@v10cylinder Well the way people tend to look at football means that defenders almost never get elected as the best in the game. We have Beckenbauer, but also Baresi and Maldini who were probably as good as it gets when it comes to defending but somehow are not included as some of the best. In my book Messi is not in the top4. Take Napoli and Argentina in 1985 1990. It is a simple thought experiment. Now: we have seen what Diego did. Would Cruyff ligt both teams to a considerably higher level? I think so. Pele? I never saw him play so I don't know? Would Ronaldo do it? I think so. Would Messi do it? Yes but not in the way the others would. He is lacking quite a few things to be able to that to teams that are suboptimal. So Messi, while being superlative at what he does in my view cannot do what the others can. I am personally convinced when we take it all together none of them could do what Maradona did though. He is really in a class of his own.
