Thanks for this! One note, you skipped replacing the front bumper assembly during reassembly, so for those brainless like me who were just watching and following along exactly I missed putting it back on when you did.
I had "fan error" on my five year old S50. This video helped me understand how to access the fan, which I removed and cleaned with compressed air. I cleaned the wheel assemblies and other internals with compressed air, reinstalled everything, and with replacement brushes and filter it's practically good as new. Hope I will get another five years out of it.
Thanks. The original fan smelt like it was burning. One thing for anyone coming to this video to note is that on the rebuilding phase be sure to put the bumper on before the bottom plate! It's skipped in this video
rew Sobey Great video. Our robotics lives to clean for another day! 1 bit of feedback - You just missed 1 step on reassembly. Don’t forget to put the bumper back!
This also works for Roborock S6. As someone has mentioned, you don't need to remove 3 wheels to get to the fan. Removing the top lid at 0:07 is actually a huge pain, it has 7 pins which are very hard to remove from the sockets.
I watched the video and I was able to replace the fan myself, I am so proud! Thank you for the video!! Just one detail, I believe that you forgot to record the moment that you put the front shield back.

This is the kind of video I look for first before even considering another robot vacuum. The last one I shelled out a ton of money for had the wheels wear out since my vacuum loved to do burnouts on my rug. It also would stay charged for 10 feet and then decide it wasn't feeling it that day and go back to charge. In my mind these vacuums end up becoming a very expensive throw away item if there isn't any replacement parts available.
Awesome, Thank you very much. Please add some music or some voice. This was very helpful, and it clearly shows step by step guide to replace the fan. Caution - just before fixing the back cover make sure to fix the front bumper. That is the only step he missed in this video.
I noticed doing this that the bottom of the fan has a fine metal screen, not shown in this video, and mine was 50% clogged with fine dust/hair. This is where the fan pulls the air in, through the little wind tunnel (the part with the black circle around it), leading to the dust bin filter. The black foam piece leading out of the vacuum is the exit. If you are cleaning your vacuum, those two areas are very important.
Thx man. I have Xiaomi Robot Vacum Cleaner 1s and it give me ERROR 10. I clean everything and blow up the vent and the problem continue. Then i follow upt your tutorial and i realize that the bottom side of the fan motor have a huge amount of dust. Its fixed now, no need to replace in my case.
Hello Would you know where I can find the circular part ( 03:22) that holds the front bumper ? My vaccum felt in the stairs and this piece is broken so the front bumper doesn't stay in place now... I searched also for the whole bumper too but nothing so far 😢 Thank you for your help
It is unbelievable to me that Roborock put a 'filter' as the last stage of the exit airflow with no easy means to clean or replace that filter. It is a sponge-like thing and when it gets clogged (as it will) the sensor triggers and tells you "Filter is Clogged." So you replace the main filter and still get that message. :-( On my S6, it's even worse: there is an additional screen with very, very fine holes. I was able to rip that out using a nail file and I haven't got the 'Filter is Clogged" messages since then. You can also try vacuuming the output. Put your hand by the output when it runs and you'll see how restricted the outflow is. Imagine how that decreases the vacuuming power. Why it is there--I assume--is to decrease noise. It strikes me as lazy engineering to give it a low DB rating. It should have been a baffle-type muffler--less restrictive such as on an automobile. I think I also poked holes in, or dislodged the sponge material behind that fine screen. Yes, my S6 is louder without it but not so you can't hold a normal conversation in the same room. Think about it: why block the output? Why, if you do want a screen there, not give the user a (reasonable!) way to clean or replace it? Thank you for your video.
After a few months with the new fan a resonating sound occurred. The sound disappeared when pushing on the top back near the fan. Disassembling the Roborock to the fan I didn't found any loose screws. I taped the cables from the fan to the body. After this no more resonating sounds.
@@fransiefransmr Hi again, I was wrong, it was the main brush making that sound. Replaced it with an original one to make it work well. Noises stopped.
