I don't see how anyone can not love shuffle t and marlo. They're so likable.
not just that, their flow is so dry, and theyre both very very switched on....i cant spit two bars... but i understand the components, and the purpose of all the ingredients of battle rap, and if you listen to dont flop today its not just about mcs from the dark underbelly of cities now, theyre uni students living in stately homes with mother and father.... proper bright, creative poets just like tupac... literature students, performing arts majors etc . these two are one of my favourite duos

What Marlo & Shuffle said clearly went over everyone's head. The angry, tough guy battles rap is dated and cringeworthy as fuck. The sound of the crowd laughing bodies even the best gun bar.

even though i have been a fan of them for a while , they're kinda outdated (2007 is when they were pretty big , back when it was FREESTYLE w/ mixed in premeds , but def comedic styles so you have no point )

Shuff and Marlo's technique is a hybrid of stand up comedy and battle rap. Glad they've freshened it up, DF was becoming a popularity contest for who had the best CV. These two middle class students are gaining fans by being genuinely funny lads, and mixing it with decent enough bars to win a battle.
A lot of pissed off Americans over here it seems. I can understand the culture shock. Over in the States it's all about guns and hoes. Over here in the UK we know we don't have guns, yes we do have hoes, but we'd rather just have laugh. The American ideology is a bit over the clouds. In the UK we like to keep our feet firmly on the ground.

***** It's weird because I don't consider Quest or Marvwon to be particularly great individually but they form an awesome 2 vs. 2 team. Their battle vs. Soul Khan and DirtbagDan is great as well. Although my favorite 2 vs. 2 of all time is Real Deal/Fresco vs. Soul Khan and DirtbagDan. That said, Marlo and Shuffle T (particularly Shuffle T) are becoming a favorite team of mine.

Bloody hell, Marlo's whole game has improved like tenfold from when he came on the scene with Shuffle - and he was good in the first place! Now, his writing (I assume he writes with Shuf and Frankie Phraser) has come on leaps and bounds, his punch lines, his hard hitting bars, just EVERYTHING!
Shuffle t and marlo have the weirdest angles. Like them or not theyre super creative, which is more than you can say about so many other battlers...
these 2 are a problem - they're too skilled to get par'd by any typical angles and they're too openly humble and modest with their "nerdy middle classness" that you can't take that route to break them down.... someone would have to dig up dirt on them to win, and they'd probably still laugh it off and flip it
Even if you dig up dirt on Shuffle ad Marlo they would just admit it and act modestly shameless about it. Basically These guys can do no wrong.

See I think what shuffle did at the end of the 3rd round clinched it. Like it's such a huge diss to your opponent to do something completely unrelated to them in the final round of the battle. It's just like "sorry you don't really matter that much so we are gonna close out with something more interesting." I fucking love it

Marlo is dope I hate when they say he's nothing without shuffle t when in my opinion it wouldn't be as entertaining without Marlo the funniest bars are from Marlo the most laughter is caused by Marlo and shuffle t provides the serious nature and yes he occasionally goofs around with Marlo but he stays serious and stable unlike Marlo who's the opposite the two complement each other perfectly with the right amount of humor and bars

You can say what you want about Marlo and Shuffle T being about crowd reactions, but the fact remains that even all the internationals watching loved their angles too. They're growing, and it won't be long before they head over to the states and rep England as well as Eurgh has done in the past.

Too many battle fans only pay attention to the half of a battle featuring the people they've come to see. Marv and Quest are dope, but they got murdered here.
See, I live like 10 minutes from Detroit. I see with no debate Marlo and Shuf bodied those 2. I don't know why anyone wants to try and hate. Marv and Quest are past their time now.

This actually ended up being a great match, both sides had me in stitches. Marv & Quest's more technical gun bars don't really work on UK comedy rappers, but their delivery was still perfect.
But fat jokes and fake gangster schemes are REALLY effective against American Smack rappers!

Expected a lot more from quest and marv, they used to have me in dying in the WRC. Seems like people are giving them a pass cos they got status in battling, them bars were average at best. Shuffle and Marlo killed it.

This is a battle from set the standard 10.
I am starting to really like UK rappers. Except for Villun... his creeps me out and and his style is annoying and unintelligible. But the others seems quite witty. Funny as hell. Being kind of a cultural/history buff it kinda makes sense to me that British rappers would make good ground in the Battle Rap genre. Brits are actually know for making up jingles on the fly. They been doing it sense the revolutionary war (Yankee Doodle ring any bells?) and probably long before for that. So battle rap, where you basically come up with musical insult towards your opponent, is obviously a small adjustment.
With all that being said, when Marv and quest saw that the Hardcore American styles was not cutting it with the crowd they adjusted on the fly and pull out a 2-1 victory. I was impressed because i really thought they were in trouble going into the 3rd round. Its is impressive that they adopted the new style and won the crowd as well as their opponents over.

I would say it's more of an 'endorsement' than 'expression', and acting like a 'fucking goof' is suitable considering battle rap is just a hobby where 2 dudes shout stuff at each other lol.
At no point did i say we should get rid of violence. To some degree there is a need for it, but it becomes an issue when violence is the centerpoint of every performance because it places limitations on creativity and turns people into aggressive non humorous drones like most american battle rappers.
But as i said each to their own.
If Quest and Marv said they were guilty just before Marlo says "they're refusing to say", it would have made the punch so much better.
I like that both Marv/Quest and Real Deal decided to use inside joke bars with the "Get into bed or have a fight" shit. No one in the crowd could have possibly caught those. Only after reading blogs/forums or listening to the Dirtbag Dan Show do they make any sense.

If you look at this on silent you realise how much Marlo says in comparison to Shuffle T. Not saying that is bad, it works but it is just something I did not realise before.
And everyone that says American rappers or battle rappers only rap about guns and hos need to stop listening to lil Wayne or whatever the fuck ur listening to. For example, just locally for me ( in Chicago) listen to typical cats, skeme, juice, rhymefest, twista, ec illa, and countless other insane mc's. binary star from Michigan is also a dope ass duo. Please don't base your assumptions on mainstream rap that millions of idiots listen to. Instead, search for true hip hop mc's that put it down and make hip hop what it is. As an American I think on average this is much better than most American battle rappers. Its all opinion I know but I couldn't care less about how fast you can speak if your not saying anything interesting or intelligent. And if all you have is a flow or beat that makes you sound good I consider that more pop music. Now granted flow and beat makes things better but to me it's about your content and most (not all)English rappers I've seen focus on that more.
