Another way to build confidence is to stop watching those fail videos of MTB’s crashing. They will instill fear, especially if you’re new to the sport. Just know the sport comes with some risks, but wearing protective gear (helmet, knee/shin guards, and gloves) will greatly reduce injuries. Ride on!!
I've been crashing and riding for decades I see it as free improvement tips, I "enjoy" the fails and try to learn from them, sometimes there's nothing to learn but often there is 😂
Man actually I still love watching those😂 I'm still in my beginner/intermediate stage. But the fact of the matter is, there's gonna be crashes no matter what. I may be used to that from competitive skiing tho. Which I also like watching ski fails lol But I get where your coming from😂
One of the biggest things that's helped me has been consciously working on staying relaxed and moving with my bike. If you're stiff you're going to be tossed around and feel like you're not in control. Also, practice falling in a controlled way. On grass, slowly tip over and roll away from the bike to divert as much energy as you can. If you know you can fall well, you'll feel more comfortable pushing limits every now and then
both very good points! lately i was going FAST on a rocky surface and felt as i was getting stiff and nervous, i felt i was going to crash in a seconds and then i thought "relax, just relax" and everything became smooth and controllable.
Looking where you want to go is a good tip and helped me tremendously as a beginner. Almost sounds too simple but it works. When we're less confident we're too focused on what's right in front of us and that's going to get you in trouble.
Rode my hardtail for the first time two days ago (hadn't ridden a bike for ten years) in à big park. I had an absolute blast although I fell alternance losing control in a large set of stairs, I think I could use some more confidence !
After breaking my collarbone and thumb on a downhill drop off at Xmas iv definitely lost my confidence on my XC bike, going to get a dropper post soon as funds allow as think this will help confidence , and definitely feel like I need to take it back to basics regarding drops …
I'm glad you're feeling you need to improve, yes droppers are wonderful but oftentimes I just forget to drop my seat on a downhill run, it shouldn't affect you that much, concentrate on bike balance and braking control skills, check out Aaron's "Super Rider" channel he's legit and knows how to explain to a beginner as well as seasoned riders...
Can I ask about riding trails blind? I've been riding for many years but struggle to improve my skills due to having memory issues. I cannot remember trails (or anything much) and can ride the same trail 10 times, 30 times but never learn it. Some tips on prgressing on blind trails would be amazingly helpful!
Run small sections of the trail at a time over and over again! Once you’ve got that section dialed in that move down the trail some more doing the same thing.
When you want to build confidence in any activities you have to celebrate small increments and learn from mistakes, seems very generic and boring but if you set up impossible goals you'll just have a bad time, fitness is as important as skills. Obviously you can't manual or pop on jumps if you can't jump more than 4 inches on your feet 😅
Bikes are fragile look like they are designed to break. Very annoyed about this sport I started I was very enthusiastic now I discovered bikes break each 100 miles and my goal was to cycle all day. Seems impossible cause maintenance issues . Gg fragile bycicles
No its not lol. Repair means something is broken. Maintenance is taking care of something to prevent parts from breaking. Adjustment is getting things to work as well as possible.

I love how much Blake rides a hard tail.

I learnt 30 years ago with basic technology . Riders have it easier these days .
Love it best advice 👌

How do you stay balanced + stable in the air
Just send it !!!
Did Blake shrunk or the bike was too big for him? He looked weird on or next to it. 😅
Just do 20/80.
20% Skill
80% Balls
That’s me lol

None of my friends want to go off road due to the trail damage stigma . Who pays for repairs ?
Gear has NEVER boosted my confidence. all the pads in the world, it still hurts to hit the ground. the rest of the points are pretty helpful though.
Confidence is available in a can with a little red bull on it.

I beat the heck out of mine and it doesn’t break… Just have to maintain it.
