  • If you ignore the proprietary cell and price this is a beautiful looking light with so many nice features. Powerful and capable I have enjoyed using this for many hours out hiking so far.

On my 2nd unit! The switch in the 1st unit went nuts.😮

Dam that's annoying, this one is still going well. What were they like with getting you a new one? My box has 5 year warrant on it so I hope they were helpful.

Great review honest review as always.
I hadn’t thought about the knurling. I have just received a fogstar discount code as a repeated customer and that allows me to get 4 21700 40T for £28 which can be used across all of my 21700 sofirn lights/lanterns and xtar pb2s.
I prefer my perun 2 mini over my perun 2.

Nice code enjoy the cells. I had a few mention this light is large and heavy where the mini is so easy to carry and use. I'll try to get one at some point to test it. 😄👍

I'm so happy that you enjoyed this one. Thanks for the feedback. I often get comments to say that my reviews are too long but this way I cover everything and it's much more helpful for a potential buyer. Have a great day and if you have any questions just give me a shout.

I have both a Perun and a Perun 2. On both is my major gripe with these Olight headlamps is the total crap headbands. I use my headlamps everyday, probably more inside than outside. I found that the headbands last 2 - 3 months of continuous use. Then they ar4e completely stretched out and useless. I have 11 working headlamps store in the end table next to where I set in my living room then the two Olight headlamps. from brands Sofirn, Wowtac (my Perun is using a Wowtac headband) Thruniite, Lumintop, Everbeam. Nitecore, 77 outdoor etc probably another 5 or 6 headlamps stashed around the house and in tool boxes. The reason I am naming all these and providing a body count is not to impress anyone, rather to justify my experience. Over 18 years and numerous headlamps only one brand has had the headband completely fail, that is Olight and both failed rather quickly with a lot of use. I also have a Perun 2 Mini but don't have enough experience with it to pass judgement. I don't use them on hard hats, but do use them on top of beanies in the winter.
Final thought Olight makes the absolute worst headband in the business. They make quality flashlights but total crap headbands.
Second is more of a hate of the charging system / proprietary batteries as was noted in the video, To start with the Olight proprietary batteries are EXPENSIVE and I don't think they last as long as a quality off the shelf brand. Worse than the batteries are the cheap magnetic cables. Over the years Olight kept changing the size of the magnetic end, going thru many variations of these cables using various amounts of amperage to charge. I have had more bad cables than I care to count. Some just stopped working, or never worked out of the box. But worst of all were the ones with the latest problem of never turning on the green indicator on the cable to show charging was done. It would just continue to charge until the flashlight was so hot you could not hold it. I have had two of the MCC charging cables with that problem. I switched to a Olight Omino Charger and have had no problems with that.

Well, unfortunately, the bands are like cheap flashlights. Fenix came up with the idea to use the clip as a flashlight holder - good idea. I also have a GP angle flashlight - lower shelf, but they also came up with an interesting idea. There are hooks and an eraser like an oring / seal that you can probably buy at a construction market 😁.

See the new model Fenix hm61r V2.0. A very interesting proposition. A new solution for the band using a clip. In addition, it has good parameters and is much lighter than Perun 2, because it is powered by a 18650 battery.

I have had one of my omino’s fail but not any of my mcc cables so far. I have lost a few but still have about 30 left. I only get upset if one of the red 2 amp ones gets lost . I think I have lost two as I should have 16. When they used to include the 1mcc ones with the obulbs increased my stock of the 1mcc Ones.
I do take the 5 port mcc cable camping but each port is only .33 amps .

Man its sad that such expensive lights treat the headband as an afterthought I do prefer Nitecore headbands but I will admit the band on my hc65 v1 is now losing some of its elasticity which is a shame. You know what I would love is if all of these lights started to use a standard attachment. In the same way sights and lights for your AR you can use a standard rail and everything just attaches fine. Then you could go and buy a custom headband and it would work for all 18650, 21700 lights I would love that you could even make it like the DJI quick connect which I love so much they are secure yet take milliseconds to pinch and remove.

Thanks for this info I will say for myself I used it for hours and didn't mind but im a sucker for capacity as a wild camper night hiker. What about 18650 lights? I will admit I like the NU33 I have in my cars cup colder its light and perfectly fine for most walks and jobs.

The 🦓🔦 18650 headlamp is way better than this proprietary 🗑️!

Cheers for feedback i get where you are coming from. Proprietary stuff is to benefit the manufacture rather then the user.
