Excellent this helped a lot. As a new e46 owner (Cabriolet) 330ci in mint condition for only 1 month. I got those dreaded codes and two weekends ago i tackled the job and it turned out to be the exact issues you covered. Rebuilt the DISA and put a new OEM throttle body boot on. Ithad a huge crack in it. I used smoke to find both, and verify what CARLY found and CARLY was right. Worked like a charm. Found them instantly. Oh and CARLY for BMW is a god send and well worth the yearly subscription. Carly found the fault code for both banks mixtures being an issue and running lean. Again CARLY is a GOD SEND. I cleared the codes after the fixes and I have not seen them in over 500 miles since the fix, and she runs smoother than when i got her and gas mileage is better too. Thanks for your taking the time to make these videos bro. They are a big help and much appreciated.
On my 2002 e46 auto sport my secondary air pump is not located where yours is . Help . Please as I have done everything else. Your video is mega useful thanks
Can I send you a picture of my engine bay . As me and my garage cant find the second vacume line lol I have checked at the back of the air intake manifold . Cant seem to feel that hose in that location. Lol

I have done intake boots the vacuum line on top of intake boot and by the fuel line under the car both ends . And runs much better . The revs dont drop so much when putting car under load like turning wheel while stationary and a little tap on throttle it drops idle . So theres still leak somewhere else.
What sorts of symptoms did you have with that vacuum leak? I suspect I might have one but I have checked all the common places and also had it in for smoke test but couldn't find none... D:
For anybody reading this besides the OP, a vacuum leak will have rough idle that smoothes out with power, poor fuel economy, and possibly a whistling noise from under the bonnet.
@Danny Ferreiro Very likely a break in one of the vacuum pipes. 1. Take your air box (and MAF) off and completely seal the end of the intake (duct tape works) to stop any air coming out of it, 2. then remove the brake booster hose (from the servo near the brake fluid reservoir) and blow into it hard - you should hear air escaping from somewhere.
I jist pulled the intake manifold out to change the coolant pipes, now is leaking oil around the manifold, I changed IM gaskets 8 months ago, do they have to be replaced everytime manifold is removed???
just an enquiry and your vids are helpful ..I noticed a catch can so do you still keep the old system but divert the return via catch can ..thought of doing this so and excess oil is in the catch can and not going back to inlet via vacuum
I havens misfires In cylinder 1,2,3 and just did plugs and coil packs yesterday they didn’t help. Could these leaked cause misfire? New to bmws and need this thing running good. S
Hi, i Enjoy your videos. You should get the k@n panel air filter and oil filter, when i installed them on my e53 x5 3.0i and went from 14.7 mpg to 16.5 mpg. when fuel cost's £6.50 a gallon every little helps.
hi, that f connector shown in the video hooks up to the intake boot. where does the other end go to there's two vacuum line attached to the f connector id like to know in particular where the small line goes to I broke mine and it's causing a vacuum leak. also, what is that connector used for?
the big hose on top goes to the brake booster and the smaller hard line on the bottom goes to the fuel pressure regulator, which is attached to the fuel filter assembly and works with vacuum
Evan ,,, we have a problem, I hear a leak near the passenger rear wheel and there is agree hose hanging behind the carpet on d rear passenger side over the tire and is disconnected!!!! Where does it go?

Can you show inpa lamda measures when there is a vacum leak? Mine has STFT AT +20 when pressing gas pedal but -10 on LTFT. Loss of power and sometimes rpm won’t drop after releasing gas pedal.
I wish could tell you that. But i think it's because of clogged injectors. i'm not driving it too often so haven got a chance to change or clean them properly. But you should start from those cause i almost changed every part in air/fuel mixture system with no luck. Hope it fixes your issue @@the46guide94
I wouldnt even care if it were talking the whole time the silence kind of kills and the focus and and stuf being show to the camera needs to be worked on but other than that good video being that this is 2 years old im sure youve improved

I would always change the DISA o-ring as well - you're taking the box off anyway, and they are very cheap.

I have a leak at the canister, the vacume hose has dissolved and I don't know where it leads to. (To replace) Thanks for any impute.
Do you have a 330? Is in the line leading to the vacuum valved exhaust flap?

If it's whistling at high rpm it's your CCV a vacuum line can also cause your cold start to fail

This might be a bit late but I have the same thing I read that it does to the fuel filter
@@joshhoyle6824 if it went to the fuel filter wouldn’t it not run just stall out. I was told it goes to the brake booster
