Thank you for this interview, these types of interviews from her inner circle help ease the pain of missing the Queen, knowing she was a real person with unshakeable Faith, have been a blessing to help me deal with this great loss of my favorite singer. Somedays I can't believe she is no longer with us, but I am thankful for her artistry and her magic while she was on Mother Earth. It is comforting knowing her voice will never be silenced thanks to the rich musical legacy she left behind.

@@anjelheaven yeah Babe me too...I never expected her.to go also because of the grandeur of Aretha thought she would pull through she endured so much during her life ..I hate this hideous disease took her from us...hope.her sons are okay and they got through Christmas as best as can be expected can't imagine what it is like for them..having initially a funeral that was going to be private to one that was televised around the world I thank them for that but during the service I kept thinking how are they feeling having to grieve in such a public manner...Prince's I say they are!

So when she did the interview with Wendy Williams, after her surgery, was that when she was told she'd only live a few months or was it prior to the surgery? She seemed to be doing fine up until about 2016.
I researched pancreatic cancer on google of course lol but seriously she last beyond any I had read about the usual life expectancy was like 12 months if you're lucky! She far exceeded that how strong she was pancreatic cancer is one of the really nasty ones..yes 2016/seemed to be when things started deteriorate as far as her health from really 2017 that's when I started to become really concerned when I saw videos and photos of her at that open air concert at Detroit I knew then things were not good...then we heard nothing about her not even a news article..I tell you those people of Detroit must've really loved this woman they never sold a story they never blabbed to the news media I'm sure many regular people in Detroit knew of her condition so for them to respect her like that is beautiful.. I'll post this other video I have where a everyday member of new bethel.speaks of her I was flawed at what she did and how much she was loved an amazing woman her sons should be so proud

Oh she knew who she was..its the same when people say she was shy...Aretha wasn't shy..she may not have liked living her life in the public eye! But she was not shy she would hate people saying that only.people who don't know her tbh I've seen Gladys Knight on a few occasions say that Aretha would not be impressed was quite surprised over Gladys's involvement in her home going and other events as I really don't think they were close in her bio Gladys was not her favourite person even at one time Aretha sued a newspaper that printed something that Gladys had told them no point suing Gladys because at that time she had a raging gambling addiction and had nothing...the settlement was done off shore apparently and had a silence clause I do remember reading about it and what it was about jeez over fifteen years ago...people who say they knew her really didn't know her...at her home going her fans could've written a better eulogy than the one that was given..I love her mystery I love that about her...its so hard to speak of her in the past tense isn't it :(

Aretha definitely knew who she was as a singer. Her musical gift as a pianist was under rated and that she may not have known the quality of her gift, but as a singer and her legacy as of singer and her contribution to the musical industry, Aretha was very clear of it. I am glad this young man shared his relationship with Aretha. Everyone that has spoken about Aretha have one common theme. Aretha didn't just sing about respect, she embodied it. Long live the Queen.
I totally agree especially about the singing part. I think about the interview with CBS when they were telling her that she was underrated and not recognized for her songwriting and she was like, "That's alright. I'm recognized for what I always wanted to be recognized for and that's a singer!"

I don't think Aretha was shy she had a deserning spirit. She was a minsters child. Gladys said when she first met Aretha she was not warm to her but yet people on the street talk about how nice she was.

Interesting that people and fans wanted her to reveal personal things about her life and she never would. As hurtful as people were to her about revealing things about her whether true or false She Never Told their business. That's a true friend and heartfelt person. People wonder why she had a small circle of friends. People are not trustworthy. Aretha was not a dummy. Its very possible a will was created and maybe destroyed. Illness and death can bring on a different character out of family and friends. I truly hope no family member robbed her and it's a mishap or mistake. This Legend and her Legacy should not be clouded by the very thing she held dear FAMILY.

Yes. I remember it mostly because people thought Aretha was disrespecting the other divas by introducing them. I didn't get that. He also did Oprah with her once when she was trying to "dance" lol
Thanks for the video. I always wondered about her background singers as well. Many of them toured with her for decades as he did. I remember him and I would see him with other artists occasionally. He has a certain way of getting the song out of him.

She sang `Precious Memories ` at the White House a few years ago and at the McDonald`s Gospelfest she actually sang `Give Yourself to Jesus` from the Amazing Grace album which was the first time I`ve her sing that since she recorded it..... I`ve heard her do Mary Don`t You Weep` in concert a very few times and `Amazing Grace` occasionally ... She would always say "From the Amazing Grace Album"......and then go right into whatever song she was going to sing from the album.

Some media outlets seem to think Sabrina or Will are the ones that did the theft. Sad people who don't know are pointing fingers. Bills needed to be paid and it's quite possible that's where monies went. As for the homes with things in them when someone of this magnitude dies or is dying everything stops. That means something as personal as furniture being left behind is not that important. Making sure affairss are in order for transitioning takes center stage. Watching Aretha slowly lose her battle had to be very hard on all of them. Especially since she kept it hid from them for along time and she was in denial also.
She helped alot of people over the years and never spoke a word about it. That's what i call gracious.
