  • I discovered this small depot in January 2009 when I was out to video the Botany Bay trucks on a Wednesday morning. I didn't have a street directory on me that day, so I was basically guessing my way around the area. After exiting the train station, I went the wrong direction on a street which led me deeper into an industrial area, rather than to the residential area I was supposed to go to. I just remember seeing a glimpse of green, which I further investigated, and found a set of ancient machines parked in this small outdoor yard.
I snuck into this place as I couldn't see anybody around; was waiting for someone to come and tell me off, but no one did in the end =] I was sneaky and had a brief look at some of the run sheets in the trucks and noticed a lot of the pick-ups were for Qantas, with a few other commercial jobs in the area - this is why I originally titled the video as the Sydney Airport Fleet. This depot is still located here and the trucks continue to operate, only that I'm not exactly sure on which of these trucks are still in use. I have seen the rear loader servicing commercial offices early in the morning when I pass through Mascot, also spotted the Riteway a few months ago in the industrial area. However, there's a fairly new Pakmor / ACCO roll-off which seems to have replaced the old Mitsubishi and I've also seen a middle aged Superior Pak / ACCO front loader parked there. I'm not too sure about the FL3 and Tusk, but there's a good chance they're no longer in Sydney unfortunately.
When I arrived there on this day, initially there were only four trucks present, which was already mind-blowing for me considering their scarcity. Though I officially exploded when I saw the Riteway enter only a minute before I would've left! I really suggest you watch this video and see some Aussie classics which are now becoming harder and harder to find. I've since learnt to shut up and not say anything during walkarounds, that way I won't say anything false or illogical. Anyway I would kill to get these trucks in action!
