Hey, hi! Are you still around? I've got one of these karatoacanthoma on my shin and I put all kinds of stuff on it to dissolve it away (vinegar, tea tree oil etc) but it's a tough little bugger. I was able to reduce the size of it substantially though. If it's just sitting there and no longer growing I'm assuming it's not going to do any harm. The tenderness and pinkness it had two months ago has gone away and I just have a feeling it may go away on its own. I wonder if I should keep putting tea tree oil on it or just leave it alone.
@@WashingtonDeceit This thing seemed benign to me from the onset, even though it had that bizarre scaly eruption. In any case, I just ran across an article in Pubmed refering to a study done in 2005 which concluded that these growths are not a variation of squamous, they're comprised of differentiated cells. This means benign cells, yes? I think salicylic acid sounds like a good remedy since that also works well on molluscum contagiosum, which I've had in the past and which this KA seems very similar to. If I ever get another one I'll do that and skip the milder stuff. Fortunately my current lesion appears to be going away, so something I did worked or maybe my immune system is taking care of it. Thank you for responding. Skin cancer runs in my family so I have to keep a vigil and stay informed.
@@Slovenijamoja I used black salve on it and that didn't quite wipe it out. Then I got a tube of Curaderm. That seems to have worked, but it took a month of application. It seems gone but I'll have to wait and see if it comes back.
Great thanks!

Surgery is best but sometimes keratolytic agents like salicylic acid are helpful.
