[MKWii] Dolphin timer speedup on lower FPS

- As of Dolphin 5.0-11186, the race timer in Dolphin will run in real time, even if your Dolphin is too slow otherwise. That removes the advantage playing with a slow Dolphin gives you.
This video is a short proof--of-concept of that. I forced Dolphin to lag a lot (that is why the players are jumping around), but the added code in Dolphin and on the Wiimmfi server makes the race timer run in real-time anyways,
Thank you so much man, I hate having the advantage when I play at school, it makes me feel like I cheated the win. This is gonna be much, much nicer! Keep up the great work!
Awesome stuff, man!
Wow this is great!
Hey Leseratte, thanks for all the work you do for the Mario Kart Wii community. Is there any plans in the future to increase the amount character slots and music slots in the game? It would be cool to see some custom characters in addition to the original. Even if there isn't any plans, thanks for LE CODE it's amazing.
Increasing the number of available characters is not on my to-do list, that's pretty difficult and I don't see the need for that. Adding music slots should theoretically already be supported by the LE-CODE, you just need to get the additional slots into the revo_kart.brsar file somehow.
why do you use baby luigi? xD i like baby luigi also btw please make more videos and make a video of you playing worldwide
nice work
Leseratte, I really need help with something. It's about wiimifi, and their is a really weird code coming up on my screen every time I wanna access wiimifi. Please contact me.
(I asked everyone in the Riiconnect discord server, and no one new the problem, so if it comes to anything please contact me)
-Sorry if I spelt "wiimifi" wrong
Do you have a support-email? Because I have BIG issues with my connection on Wiimmfi...
(My internet isn’t bad)
Hey was wondering if you could help me cus i have problems gettibg wiimmfi could you help me?
Now it's work mario kart wii online ?How to replay it?
So does the new /dev/dolphin IOS functionality mean that there may in fact be an ideal non-cheater-abusing method in the future of playing wiimmfi on Dolphin without the need for a NAND dump?
I myself have a physical console (I actually have a single really old video on my channel of Excite Truck as proof), but in the past I always had major issues and was unsuccessful at importing my Wii's NAND into Dolphin (though the last time I tried was over 5 years ago...so maybe things have changed since).
No. The /dev/dolphin device allows Wiimmfi to communicate with Dolphin and get information about the real time and information about how much slowdown there currently is, so the game can speed up the in-game timer appropriately, so a sped-up ingame timer plus a slowed-down Dolphin will equal a timer running at 100%. Any check that the server could do to the client to check for cheating could be patched out easily on Dolphin (which is why CTGP doesn't support Dolphin) and Dolphin players are still required to use a NAND backup from an actual, real Wii.
However, if you update to the most recent version and import a Bootmii NAND backup through the Dolphin menu it should work properly.
Awesome! Is there any plans to make a mario kart retro version with le code for dolphin?
Not that I know of, you'd need to ask Wiimm for his plans for a future Retro version.
Pardon my ignorance but do I need to repatch mario kart wii to get this feature? I'm already on the latest dev build of dolphin.
Sorry for the late answer: No, you don't. As long as you are using a relatively recent version of Dolphin (5.0-11186 or newer) this will automatically be active.
@@Leseratte Alright, thanks! And no worry about the late reply i've been busy the past few weeks myself :)
Is it possible that you can create 200cc like CTGP does?
Everything is possible, and that is on my to do list, but I have no idea when I'll find time for that, because there's a bunch of other stuff on my to do list as well.
Is this currently active in dolphin?
Yes, it is.
Nice but a lot of people use the 5.0
Yeah but now at least people with a slow computer have the option to just update Dolphin, instead of getting kicked and banned all the time for having a slow computer.
This looks really jumpy
@@leo60228 But it's too laggy to play anyway
@@circuit10 Yeah, because I slowed it down extremely so that the difference between game speed and timer speed becomes obvious. Of course you can't really play a game at that speed. But if your Dolphin just slows down occasionally, or slows down to like 58 instead of 60 fps, you would still be able to play online properly when that patch is released.
@@Leseratte Oh, OK
