The best team by a mile they played was Ohio State and they were ranked I believe 36th. Michigan defense looks great because they really haven't played anyone.

I don’t think Milroe has to be “at his best” to beat Michigan. He clearly wasn’t at his best in the SEC Championship game when Alabama beat Georgia. He was off on his passes pretty much half the game, but made up for it with his scrambling ability. Michigan on the other hand I think needs McCarthy to have the game of his life to beat Alabama. Michigan has gotten away with being so one dimensional but that’s not gonna work against Alabama. McCarthy will have to stretch the defense out, running it right at Alabama won’t win them the game.

The Auburn discussion is actually quite pertinent. Alabama does not have the physically dominant front that they have had in years gone by, and they can be run on by a team that is either more physical or scheme-wise clever in getting numbers in the boundary. Pounding the ball while committing to not making mistakes that put them behind the chains would appear to be a sound strategy for Michigan. The question is, can they do that against a quick defense that doesn’t always do what you expect.

ALABAMA has a total of (18) 5-star athletes (73) 4-star athletes. Im not saying AL should destroy MICH on paper im just saying that that is a jaw dropping gap in overall blue chip talent.
Michigan can never recruit the way Alabama has and does. Putting the money aside -- and Alabama was amongst the cheatingest programs ever in terms of bagmen pre-NIL -- a lot of players recruited by Alabama simply would never be admitted to Michigan. No, Michigan is not Stanford or Duke when it comes to this problem, but every year multiple football and basketball recruits who commit to Michigan cannot get past admissions (including portal players). That doesn't happen at Alabama. And, Alabama does have an advantage being in the south. That's why the last 3 years at Michigan have been so remarkable, particularly in player development. It takes a great coaching staff to identify the 3 and low 4-star players who will develop into high-4 and 5-star players over their college careers.

The Auburn discussion is actually quite pertinent. Alabama does not have the physically dominant front that they have had in years gone by, and they can be run on by a team that is either more physical or scheme-wise clever in getting numbers in the boundary. Pounding the ball while committing to not making mistakes that put them behind the chains would appear to be a sound strategy for Michigan. The question is, can they do that against a quick defense that doesn’t always do what you expect.

Michigan can never recruit the way Alabama has and does. Putting the money aside -- and Alabama was amongst the cheatingest programs ever in terms of bagmen pre-NIL -- a lot of players recruited by Alabama simply would never be admitted to Michigan. No, Michigan is not Stanford or Duke when it comes to this problem, but every year multiple football and basketball recruits who commit to Michigan cannot get past admissions (including portal players). That doesn't happen at Alabama. And, Alabama does have an advantage being in the south.
That's why the last 3 years at Michigan have been so remarkable, particularly in player development. It takes a great coaching staff to identify the 3 and low 4-star players who will develop into high-4 and 5-star players over their college careers.
