This video was a little bit of an information vomit but i get asked about this ALL THE TIME. Sadly this is the kind of thing that we just don’t get taught in drama schools and it is probably one of the most important things about our career. I hope this can help anyone who is either about to embark on their first tour or even anyone who’d like to do it in the future.

Your videos are great when the show starts touring please can you start videoing the behind-the-scenes and talking to the tech members please can you show us the get in and get out with trucks and showing you packing your box that will be great… have amazing tour can’t wait to see you in Manchester later in the year

This is wild to me. What is your union doing? In Australia - a much smaller industry - our union, MEAA, mandates that producers provide suitable 4 star accommodation (where possible, though some small regional areas you have to stay in motels etc). If you choose to organise your own accommodation there's a different rate depending on the city and state (more money in major cities Sydney and Melbourne for example) that the producer has to pay you on top of your salary in lieu of providing accommodation. PLUS whether or not you're staying in accommodation provided by the company you get paid a separate per diem for food and living costs. There are also minimum standards in terms of cooking facilities etc. too depending on how long you're in a venue.
Yes it’s pretty wild hearing about how other countries operate. We are desperately campaigning to make that happen but it’s not coming to fruition any time soon 😭
