Many African Americans like myself have tremendous respect for this great man and visionary. However, respect for him is not enough, we must study his formulas for African liberation and implement them.
Also, it is very important to document the covert role of the CIA in dismantling Nkrumah, Lumumba, and other African revolutionary leaders who stood up against western political and economic exploitation of their countries.

It is really sad to know that even after His death Ghanaians refuse to give Nkrumah a dignify burial.
After the president of Guinea pleaded.
As a Ghanaian i am disgusted by the way We treated him knowing fully well how excellent His leadership skills and commitment to the entire Africa was .
Its funny we celebrate him now .
Selfish people we deserve every bit of nonsense our economy is going through now.
Rest in Peace Osagyefo Dr. kwame Nkrumah. A true Africa leader

Ask your Asante people,.....what happened,....they have answers to that,..... the Asantes were not ready for a country,....all they wanted was their kingdom so that they could rule other tribes,...so when the whites were leaving they didn't like the idea of joining other tribes to form a country, and when Nkrumah divided the Asante region and created Bono Ahafo region, they knew he had cut down their territory, and made plans for his downfall, till the Military leaders who were Asantes overthrew him and disgraced him, didn't even want to give him a national burial,.... 😞😞😞

It was the traitors who later made up the puppet-stooge government that handed over Ghana's sovereignty to western powers. Ghana is still under neo-colonialism today.
The solution is organized revolution to usher in our full liberation through the unification of the African continent under an All-African Union of States.
It must be organization on a continental scale, followed by a well planned offensive to remove neo-colonialism and imperialism.
Africa can then develop her vast mineral and material resources to serve her people in a planned economy. Industrialization will be second to none.
In truth,.that is the best way to honor the Osageyfo .

The bitterness, which Nkrumah created among Ghanaians at the time of his overthrow, could not be overlooked. If you lived during Nkrumah's era, you would understand. He wiped out the opposition and created a one-party state. He created a police state. A common chat with your friend could catapult you to prison under "The Preventive Detention Act". Under the Act, you will be taken to Prison without trial, and you will be there until you ROT. Dr JB Danquah was one of the many who died in prison. Whenever one talks about Nkrumah, one should hear from those who lived in his era.

only a few understood Nkrumah's vision or saw the big picture, He wanted the achievement of his vision so fast but he missed the issue of Ghana's interior affairs. Good intention still but just the timing and priority of decisions were the issue. His opposition didn't do better when they got in, personal aggrandizement was their motivation and they turned out to be far worse in power

Very well much so! But then, I think the enmity the Akyems and subsequently the Asantes had for him which eventually precipitated numerous failed assassinations on him made him to act in that; every normal human will do that, and even me, I'd have done worse
After his overthrow, those of his enemies who came to power proved that, Nkrumah was an angel and they being the devils! They paying themselves one year in advance and enjoying the luxury and comfort at the expense of the suffering Ghanaian

    • @John-zb8ly
      @John-zb8ly 2 years ago +6

Exactly my position... I said this about 2 or 3 years ago. But some Nkrumah supporters hit back at me. Nkrumah is one of my best African leader but his mistakes was his hastiness to Industrialize Ghana and perhaps Black Africa, this made him eat deep into Ghana's foreign reserve which caused Ghana's bankruptcy under him. The opposition capitalized on this to incite the people against his government thereby removing him, however those opposition whose aim of seizing power was for their personal pockets and not the interest of the people reversed Ghana backwards rather than forward. Today posterity speak for Nkrumah's selflessness to the people of Ghana and a united Africa project. He is surely one of Africa's heroes. I rank him 1st and Mandela 2nd on my list of Africa's greatest leader of all time.

I don't think it's right to say that. I'm a Ghanaian too and I think the author did a great a job reseraching and putting this together. In the least, you could also list here the achievements of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah to inform others or better still make a a respectable suggestion to the author for inclusion or consideration for further works.

As a pioneer, a beginner he gave his best, the traitors also didn't know better too. Whatever the case, we Ghsnains have a country today that we all dear love. As a child if an active member of Ghanas independence, now at 70, the history of Ghana's Independence is engraved in my spirit. I grew up with the dream if a united Africa.
It seems bthere us a new dawn for Africa. Although I am not a supporter of coups, I appreciate the motivation if the new militsrybcoups in Africa, but these brave young men must also remember that the stories of the countries they are trying to liberate started long before they were born.withnthis kind of humility, we can go slowly and consciously to s better and prosperous Africa. I refuse to be blinded by my love for Nkrumah by not acknowledging his dictatorial actions which is against his own political beliefs as a liberal democrat. He made mistakes, he was paranoid of which some were justified and others wrong but in the end he was human and had good intentions.
The documentary was great, however I’d have loved if he dwelt more on his time in prison and how Komla Gbedemah printed his picture and drove all over the nation to preach the man Nkrumah and his vision to Ghanaians.

-You think it was easy to mobilize to shame and ditch British superpower authority?
-You think it was easy to fight for the less privileged against an inner circle of powerful bourgeoises?
-You think it was easy to bring together and unite enemy ethnic groups and tribes who had their own sworn respective leaders?
-You think it was easy to remain resolute and continue to fight for a nation and an entire continent after several attempts of assassination and opposition?
-You think it was easy to persuade, awaken and enlighten an entire continent under colonial rule?
-You think it was easy to build over 20 fully functioning and effectively producing industries in just 9 years of governance?
-You think it was easy to set off a nation without any production lines to a self sustaining nation producing more than half it consumed, also just in 9 years?
-You think it was easy to bring a colony into such fast pace of development that it became a flash of hope the entire world keenly looked upon?
-etc in just NINE (9) YEARS as Head of state?
    - You think it was easy, after all those years, to not accumulate a single property for oneself nor inheritance for one's family?
...All against the odds and influences of foreign intelligence agencies?
    It takes a MESSIAH.
    This man achieved it ALL.

The whole idea of one race of characters, determining the fate and lives of others on the basis of conquest and oppression is severely flawed.....

I like everything in this documentary, except for the idea that Nkrumah made any mistakes. He did not make any mistakes, and was reincarnated as a Canadian ice hockey player, who also makes no mistakes. Seriously, it's a great synopsis, except for the YT text, which gives some (presumably) unintentional chuckles to the otherwise plainly useful information.

Point of vital correction, it was General Acheampong who welcomed President Nkrumahs remains to Ghana. Rawlins was a young pilot then, he flew the helicopter that had President Nkrumahs remains to Nkroful. It was President Nkrumah who gave a young recruit Acheampong the opportunity to join the army .General Acheampong never forgot this. Well done documentary, however this last bit needs to be corrected.
