I was exploring everywhere in the game, looking for supplies and notes; can't believe I missed this of all things though.
One of my favorite streamers just did that, I'm so sad for him
when is this in the game?

@@Learned_English_Dog agh, thanks for telling me, I missed this part
The fact that this bit is completely optional, meaning some people probably missed this beautiful part, physically pains me.
I found this place while playing the game and almost went out. Luckily I did found this scene, and i am a bit ashamed because iam a 30jo man, but I had tears in my eyes like a little crybaby.

Absolutely 😂
This and Priscilla's song from Witcher 3 are both great bittersweet songs/moments. Probably the best 2 I can think of

She's actually holding back
I'm glad they made Ellie's likeness closer to Ashley Johnson this time around.

“...if somehow the Lord gave me a second chance at that moment, I would do it all over again.”
Breaks my heart
I broke down crying, I had been telling my friend that the entire game while we played through together because I refused to have Abby grow on me for the longest time. Hearing Joel say it killed me and gave ME the closure I needed
Danklin agreed 100%
Excuse my dumbass but when Joel said that did he mean like he would still have chosen to save Ellie either way if given a second chance right or did I miss interpreted that ?
@@Dantheman88M it means he will still choose ellie

This game was super LGBTQ and woke, unless your dad was sympathetic to that satanic agenda I don't think he would be happy.

This hit me the hardest, especially the way Ellie sang it.

I KNOW it’s not right what this scene does to me :(
Her "cover" is just the band's cover of their own song that they did a few years ago.
Hans Ollo this “comment” is actually just a rearrangement of words that have been used before soooo make up new words next time thx bye
Joel: "Hey Ellie, Here's a little something I wrote, I call it ";Take on Me;".
Five years later she sees it in a record store and is like wait...

Lol, prick

Bullshit how they killed Joel
This game is so overhated, Ellie’s emotional roller coaster in this game is so immersive, you feel each bit of pain, happiness, even fear, she really one of the best characters of all time
Couldn’t agree more! Y’know it’s not the players fault… Joel's death was shocking! When a player is playing by their emotions, it could blind them!! We all wanted revenge, but after Abby’s walkthrough, a lot of players changed their mind!
Happiness? When lol
Lol dumb
i agree, i was late to this game and i cannot believe people hated it so much when it came out. this story is amazing, this is a masterclass, i have never felt this much emotion from a game before, and it still lingers on my mind for weeks now since i first finished it. i really hope the negative critics and the misunderstanding a lot of people had of this game wont discourage Naughty Dog from making a Part 3, cause my god, The Last of Us is a Masterpiece!

Nice detail, havent noticed. Now the scene is even more emocional. FUCK
It just looks too real, it really hurts to see💔
It’s Ellie realizing that she liked and learned this song when she was younger because she related to the lyrics on a deep emotional level. Both her coming to terms with wanting to sacrifice her life and having Joel force her to keep on living. Combined with her own insecurities about never thinking that she is good enough for Dina. It’s really tragic foreshadowing.
😭😭😭
I assumed that was because she watched Joel kill droves of people to be “safe” and in her eyes it’s just not worth it
*Love how beautiful moments like this exist amidst all the chaos in this game*
the guitar playing is incredibly realistic. she actually plays the right chords and picks the right strings with the right technique. even the imperfections are purposefully added in the playing.

@@norbertohernandez606 Emotionally ? Without a doubt. This game was soul crushingly realistic with its realistic standards and expectactions of human beings. He goes and kills one of the biggest (known) groups of survivors who actually seem to be good guys and help people out, and then kill the one known person who can make a CURE? And the reveal of ellie knowing all along that she could have been the cure was indeed one of the most emotional moments in any game, and infact, if you go back and play NG+ you realise the small bits of dialogue / bits in scenes that point to it. Hey how can we add this new character in the story, well lets just choose a random npc that joel killed in the first game and have her get a revenge. and how joel died is so dumb joel and tommy are hardened veterans of the apocalypes in the last 25 years and they just actually gave their names in front of strangers? Thats poor writing in book. And to force us to play as the boring she hulk, make us pet dogs that ellie killed to force us to feel bad about what we did as ellie, and you and me can both agree that you did not even cared about the supporting casts of the game on abby's side because whe all know that they will end up all dead anyway when we played as abby, and to cap it up, all the innocent people ellie killed that has nothing to do with joel's death just to let abby live in the end because she saw a goddamn joels image then she realized its not worth it anymore? Thats stupid, if she had to stop that should be when she realize that she murdered a pregnant woman, and for the record if someone bit my fingers off thats more reason for me to kill them remember what ellie said in the first game? "After all we've been through, it cant be for nothing" well everything she did in this game is for nothing. They completely destroyed joel and ellie's character in this game. I could go on and on about all the things this game fucked about the story and you will still never see it so i'll stop here.

Same, immediately thought of this scene
Hbo ellie and Joel look bad
Cast is terrible
Only recently played 1 and 2... And finished 2 before the trailer come out.
This scene filled my heart so much. And hearing this song in the trailer broke me 😩😩
I love it so much.
One of the best scenes in a game ever ❤️❤️
People that like this game, people that hate this game, I think we can all come together and agree that this was the best part.
One of the most touching scenes in this game...
More like the only touching scene in the game
Z _ what about the scene where Joel sang to Ellie? And when Ellie sang the same song after his death? And their last conversation about Ellie trying to forgive him? And Ellie in the last scene of the game where she realized that she lost everything? Pretty bold to claim that this is the only touching scene.
My favorite touching(?) moment was when Joel brought Ellie to the museum. Idk why I cried during the cutscene when Ellie answered the phone and called Joel a dinosaur
Edit: I know it was a happy moment but it always hits me that Joel is no longer there and that happiness will just be a memory
@Rorschach Is that at the very end? Cuz I havnt got to the very end yet😂😅 I'm still on the way to the aquarium (Jacksepticeye's gameplay)
@@Jhopemmaa Wow man, I cried in the spaceship part. Joel really knew his baby girl...
"It's no better to be safe than sorry"
man... those words cut deeper under different context. In Aha's version he was trying to pick up a chick. But Ellie's cover feels.. powerful.
All of the song choices are just MINT. Like the cinematic trailer song is all about a drug addiction which can easily be compared to the themes of love and hate in the game.
Exactly! The lyrics and the story really integrate on many levels.

100%, this is the defining scene
Either this or the space ship scene.
Sad that she lost even more than just Joel. This story is truly tragic.
:'(
Youngprodigy Too bad the characters weren’t as good as the 1st game
I actually thought this game while a tragedy on the surface is hopeful when you look deep. Whilst the first game had a happy ending on the surface but was a tragedy when you look deep.
Mild Misanthrope there was literally nothing happy about this game.
@@Sevren_ it has some happy moments like this one, or Ellie and Joel in the museum, or Abby eating a burrito or Abby and Owen in the aquarium, the thing is that this game is really hopeful at the end for Abby AND Ellie if you look deep into it. They learned a lot from the pain and tragedy and they are bigger persons now.
I've been playing video games since 1989. In the first 30 seconds of this scene I had already realized that I was experiencing one of the most epic moments in gaming history.
It's true. It has magic. As well as some other moments in the game.
I appreciate your love for this scene and i love it too but then again it’s just a “scene”. Not really a gaming moment
Lies again? Opposite Nazri
The way Ellie said "It's no better to be safe than sorry" made me wanna burst in tears😭
FUN FACT Neil Druckmann said this, the co-writer of the game Hailee Gross, her best friend is married to the guitarist of A-ha and that's how the song ended up in the game. thought it was cool.
That is cool
Dope
That's cool!
Fun Fact: Neil Druckman could not get anyone to Mo-Cap the sex scene for his insert character for what they were paying.. so he did it himself.. for both sides of the scene.
@@ArynosValinir get over yourself
This song just keeps reminding me that yes she kills people and yes she can get cruel at certain circumstances but under the shell she is still a teenager with a gentle heart who wants to be loved.
@The Motherfucker But they still have so much to look forward to. And that's part of the message I think. That regardless of the people you lose, there's always a future. Abby managed to save Lev from a seemingly impossible situation and rejoin the fireflys (once you beat the game it shows their boat in front of the firefly HQ). Ellie gets to go back to Jackson having her grief over Joels death under control and potentially get back with Dina/ reconcile with Tommy and Maria.
Madder Max I also love how both their fates are connected with one another. Ellie (and Dina) would have died, if Abby hadn’t shown mercy. If Ellie had tried to try and live on with that trauma, Abby (and Lev) would have died on that beach. It genuinely surprised me that they went this direction with the game. the audience does not seem to fully appreciate (at least) the depth of storytelling in part 2.
@@Tmtrnr22 I agree whole heartedly.
That applies to all humans.
@The Motherfucker well even though abby lost most of the people she cared for, in the end abby still had lev with her. You could tell abby grew to love lev and care for him while ellie came back to nothing and had noone there with her. But yes, both abby and ellie lost and experienced karma. This is why they should make part 3 to possibly introduce new characters along with abby ellie and tommy to continue to tell what happened

She was singing for Joel and For Dina. If you’re paying attention to how her tone was sad and have a glimpse of light in it. She was mourning for Joel and singing as a present to Dina. Guitar is actually one of the thing that makes part II a masterpiece, the symbolic ending sent through the guitar and the Journal is brilliant.
(Edit: In respect, there’s a lot of things that makes part II masterpiece worthy, and a lot of things that drag it down from that title. Feel free to discuss below, let the other side see your believes!)
even that is taken from you in the end
This game is so touching.
Could you tell me what interpretation did you get about the ending? To see if matches with mine. I loved the game, i didn't like that Ellie leaves the guitar Joel's gave her
@@pabletofusketo How did they get out of the endless cycle of revenge? - An uncommon, socially unaccepted choice they made creates a family bond of love which give them a chance of redemption.
( Ellie's accepted JJ, a child who was not born by Dina who kissed Ellie when she knew she was pregnant and started a relationship. Ellie have to face the humiliation that she left Dina once to go on revenge (the part where Jesse and Ellie split up, I'm sure you understand what I'm talking about). Abby accepted Lev, a kid from a cult she hated and is most skilled at killing who saved her. Abby have to face the humiliation and regret of killing Joel cowardly to accept Lev.
What did they have to pay? Ellie paid a part of herself, her two fingers was lost during the last battle, and she couldn't play the guitar properly anymore. Her guitar is her dearest memories of Joel, and Joel's song sounds broken without her two fingers, she lost a part of herself physically and symbolicly. Abby paid her whole group of friends and trusted comrades.
Now that is the true moral argument of the story: revenge will not lead to anything good but it’s inevitable, empathy and sympathy seems to be impossible to established but at some point you will have to show some, do it for the ones you love, they're hurt if you're trapped in that cycle too
Game has zero drive to it, story line was out of place due to re-shoots. Music was pretty much none existent and the game play didn't improve from the last game. It just is what it is.
yeah i wasnt expecting to cry listening to take on me. but it's ellie playing guitar so here we go
