I thought about it but didn't have the right sort of thing to use as a patch. I could have just painted them but I'd have had to do something to give the impression that there were gun ports underneath. Maybe I could have used a very very small round file perpendicular to the leading edge. I'd still have to find a way to mark where the holes were. Perhaps a spot of paint? If I build the other copy of the kit, I may try that.

Thanks. Not sure how much the kit cost. Somewhere between £8 and £12 probably. I bought 2 so it couldn't have been expensive.
You could have left the gun hole covered and have the red patch over them as if it had not fired a shot. Might not the best kit but it came out well.
