Hot take: but if the professional leagues are going to be partnering with these gambling sites, they lowkey condone it. Now betting on your team is sus and makes the league look fake, if you win every time…. But the fact this guy lost every time indicates he has a serious gambling issue. Instead of firing him permanently and banning him, why not help this dude get treatment for an addiction that his workplace endorses?
Its obvious there was no foul play here, just a dude who needs help. Laughing at him while his world is burning is tough too, I get its his own actions, but nobody was laughing at Delonte West and his struggles. Infact they tried to get him back into the NBA……

Almost like gambling is ADDICTIVE 😱
Sports gambling was a horrible idea from the start but people wbo had a financial interest in it (like Pat here) pushed it.
Also realize that a lot of these guys are from a different country, many don't even speak English. You expect them to follow this arbitrary rule? Come on now.

I see a lot of people in the comments missing the point entirely. If you have made it to be a professional athlete, YOU ARE NOT A NORMAL PERSON ANYMORE. Not many people get to be that lucky like they are, YOU CANNOT BET ON SPORTS ANYMORE. You are already making a ton of money for playing a children’s game.

From what I was told, it's because Boxing is a single person sport (well, it's two people, you vs your opponent), whereas in other sports is a team sport.
Against, this is just what I was told when I asked this same question.

the players have inside information, and they could use it to not bet if they think the team is bad and bet when the team seems to be in a good shape

@@AntonStachSZNMe personally, I would look at what the person was betting on. If they were betting on their own team and that's it, I would be more lenient. Suspended a full season

i mean...boxing is regarded by many as the dirtiest professional sport on earth so i think we just don't care at this point.
and the issue with sports gaming isn't betting on yourself. it's what happens if you lose enough bets and a bookie offers to forgive your debt in exchange for favors like shaving points or throwing games.

You can't possibly draw any conclusions from winning 4.3% if 231 bets. If he was making giant parlay prop bets, even with inside information hes only going to hit a small number. If they're paying hundreds to 1, it doesnt matter the percent
