The West Country accent Sean Astin did for Sam in The Lord of the Rings movies was quite impressive it's quite a specific English accent for an American to pull off.

Hi Mike & Jess, From Hell is about Jack the Ripper also, Chris Pratt does an amazing impersonation of an Essex girl on the Graham Norton Show, and Renee Zellweger as Bridget Jones, hit it out of the park. Most of the time,, unless it's a big Hollywood star, or a really poor attempt at an accent, I won't assume it's not an American actor doing a British accent.
Wonderful reactions but always remember the perception of any language is easier in your mind than spoken just listend to Lucy and Martha Thomas new release "Silent Night " both beautiful in voice and looks -- Sean (UK)x
I think it's easier for British people to do an American accent than it is for Americans to do a British accent. One of the reasons is Brits are brought up watching a lot of American TV and movies. Americans don't watch anywhere near as much British TV and film.
Re Keith Urban. Keith was actually born in New Zealand and still travels on a New Zealand Passport. But his family moved to Australia when he was a child and he grew up in Australia. He's in the same situation as Russell Crow, also born in New Zealand and travels on a New Zealand Passport. Russell was working in the US when a couple of amnesty periods allowed NZers to change to Australian citizenship. But Russell now considers himself Australian.
As an Englishman there is no one accent what most consider English accent is actually an effected accent called queens English to try and standardise a national accent.
In America, we have a non-regional American accent thats fairly common, which we could call a generic American accent (tom cruise, tom hanks, etc). I'd say a standard British accent is perhaps a bit posh, but not over the top. BBC presenter. John Cleese. Colin Firth. Hugh Grant.
Was that Jess or Cat Deeley? I was impressed. Natalie Portman i honestly thought did a pretty good job. As for singing in native tongue check outva band called Twin Atlantic no hiding that accent 👍❤
I'm a Brit and I thought Lindsay Lohan sounded ok, we've grown up giggling at Dick Van Dyke, but we still love him. 'From Hell' is about Jack The Ripper' in the East End of London, where I'm from, and it's a really good film' I loved Dracula too, and who wouldn't forgive Keanu lol.
Keanu was doing what is known as 'Received Pronounciation'. If you google some examples, you will see he was pretty much spot on. Most people won't bother because it's cool to laugh at Keanu, but he's not a bad actor and his accent was ok in this movie.
The original "The Parent Trap" was a better movie, because they had genuine English accents, because they used Hayley Mills an English child actress as the twins. 💯👍
Jess would absolutely convince as a Brit who has lived in the States for a length of time. ps - WMojo's judgement is 70% overly harsh. The voice-over sounds more like settling old scores than any real analysis.
Given the amount of British actors playing American characters in movies & TV series, I’d love to hear an American reaction to them. Kate Winslett in many roles, other examples: Brian Cox & Matthew Macfadden in Succession, Gary Oldman in The Penguin
As an American, I can often tell when someone is not American. It's tye little things. Trying too hard, using a wrong word, rhythm issues, etc. (One word: Cumberbatch. )
Honestly, I've always considered the "Country Twang" as nothing other than an 'Irish Fingerprint'. It's in the U.S. and Australia ... And everywhere the Irish settlled.
As a Brit I've tried doing an American accent, but only last a sentence and I loose it. The problem with England is there so many different accents depending on where you come from. So Brummie, Manc, Geordie, Yorkshire, Leeds (which us southerners just call 'Northern'), Bristol, Suffolk/Norfolk (farmer), Cockney and Essex.....can't think of anymore?
There is a very little amount of American actors who can pull off a British accent. Actually. I think there is only 1 i can think of, off the top of my head, and that is Peter Dinklage in Game of Thrones. But on the other hand, there are so many British actors who can pull off an American accent to the point I thought they were American for the longest of time. For example, Gary Oldman.
Dick Van Dyke did the worst of them all. Sadly with it being Disney, everyone who attempts an English accent on RUclips bases it off that. Like we're all 18th century chimney sweeps from a Dickens novel😂😂
I saw one of your videos of the idiot abroad! I think you say you’d like to do more. If you want amazing comedy look for Blackadder. A true British classic. I would start at season 2 as season one is a little poor. ‘once you start you’ll never stop.
How could anyone get angry at bad accents in movies? They are hilarious. I'm a Londoner and it still cracks me up when Mary Poppins comes on the TV at Christmas. I would love to see Christopher Walken do a British accent in a movie. If he has already please let me know.

When Patrick Swayze played a knight in 'George and the Dragon' he seemed to decide English was just camp American.
The original "The Parent Trap" was a better movie, because they had genuine English accents, because they used Hayley Mills an English child actress as the twins. 💯👍
Sorry Mike, but, Mojo is just like your Reactions. How many time did you talk in Sidney Christmas 'Tomorrow' Audition?
Jess would absolutely convince as a Brit who has lived in the States for a length of time.
ps - WMojo's judgement is 70% overly harsh. The voice-over sounds more like settling old scores than any real analysis.
One of the worst was Brad Pit trying to do an Irish accent.
Vincent Price played several British characters but all with his natural accent. I have never heard anyone complain
Yes, I was shocked he was American. A definite british finish.
The UK has around 50 to 60 different accents and I think probably more. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
(One word: Cumberbatch. )
That sounded sorted of Aussie to me too lol
From Hell is about Jack the Ripper and Johnny Depp does a sublime English accent. Love the movie and gonna watch it again now.
I'm British and I couldn't care less about accents as long as I enjoy the film.
Jennifer Ehle does a good English accent, but she has one English parent and one American one.
Great raction yous two. Ok Guvna. Stay safe
Haha Mike, good try mate 😂
There is a very little amount of American actors who can pull off a British accent. Actually. I think there is only 1 i can think of, off the top of my head, and that is Peter Dinklage in Game of Thrones. But on the other hand, there are so many British actors who can pull off an American accent to the point I thought they were American for the longest of time. For example, Gary Oldman.
Dick Van Dyke did the worst of them all. Sadly with it being Disney, everyone who attempts an English accent on RUclips bases it off that.
Like we're all 18th century chimney sweeps from a Dickens novel😂😂
If we were, we'd be young boys ...
I saw one of your videos of the idiot abroad! I think you say you’d like to do more.
If you want amazing comedy look for Blackadder. A true British classic. I would start at season 2 as season one is a little poor.
‘once you start you’ll never stop.
You guys need to try greatest comedian with a great accent called jethro
How could anyone get angry at bad accents in movies? They are hilarious. I'm a Londoner and it still cracks me up when Mary Poppins comes on the TV at Christmas. I would love to see Christopher Walken do a British accent in a movie. If he has already please let me know.
