I was sad to read that the ace guitarist here--Zachary Breaux died at the age of 36. He was on holiday in Miami and died whilst trying to save another swimmer. Rarely have I come across a guitarist who puts so much expression and feeling into his playing. R.I.P. Zachary
was watching this thinking wow that guitarist is the man, beautiful playing. So I wiki the guy...died when he was 36, he saved a man from drowning while on tour in Italy in 1988, tried to do the same thing in Miami and had a heart attack. Poor guy! RIP dude. I will continue listen to your music.
I listen to this everyday just to hear Zach’s solo. Just because a form of a person dies, doesn’t mean that their frequency ever leaves. The music lives on as a part of us. 🔮💜
Roy is STILL surgically dangerous with those vibes. Sounds GREAT; and Still at the top of yo Game. Man this tastes delicious and feels incredibly comforting. thanks.
You're a super lucky person. Very happy for you! Sending my love to you and him. God bless stay strong Roy. Will love you and your music forever! Nature loves your music too
-Zachary Breaux a masterful guitarist never forgotten. I saw him play Ronnie Scotts Birmingham UK. I was never blown away so much as that amazing night. Roy Ayres band were sublime.
Zachary Charles Breaux (June 26, 1960 - February 20, 1997) was an American jazz guitarist who was influenced by George Benson and Wes Montgomery He played with Roy Ayers, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Donald Byrd, Stanley Turrentine, Jack McDuff, and Lonnie Liston Smith. Died: February 20, 1997 (aged 36); Miami Beach... Born: June 26, 1960; Port Arthur, Texas, U.S
Man I’m a fan of Ronny Jordan, and Roy Ayers (of course). But when I saw this guitarist I though.... my goddess he should be soloist and do some acid jazz!!! Then i checked wiki and he was dead... now Ronny is dead too. Sad times.
Didn't know Neil Degresse Tyson also played magical chords like that😅just kidding....what a brilliant performance, borderline virtuosity on full display here
The great thing I loved about playing Midivibe was they were C to C instruments, which expanded the range of an acoustic vibe in the low end adding notes below F, which was the bottom note on an acoustic vibe. The acoustic vibe had a limited range and a range more appropriate to a horn player, not a keyboard player. If you watch and listen to his playing hear closely, he rarely plays in the top octave above the range of the acoustic vibe, but he often plays in the notes added below. That illustrates my point. It's intuitive to players to take advantage of what's good that's offered on an instrument. He does. He's great. Thanks.
That heroic solo on bass proves that four strings when in the right fingers, can do anything and even more than five or 6. I beg to Know the name of this bass player. He's done some amazingly difficult (also conceptually, not just technically) things here.
From the man who gave us 'Poo Poo La La' !!! I love this song : full of soul and feeling and as the person underneath says 'masterful musicianship'. The band is tight but there is space in the music. The camerawork is brilliant as well. Too often the camera will focus on the lead musician to the detriment of the other musicians. But not in this case. Shame about the audience. Brings me great JOY xx
This is off subject, but the dude playing drums is wearing a type of military cap, worn by Colonel Caamaño during the 1965 Constitutionalist Revolution in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, so I'm awfully curious where he got that unique cap.
Is Zachary Breaux really playing a solid body Stratocaster HSS here? If so that is not even a popular guitar for jazz and he still kills it like the legend he is...
You can hear, see and feel what a great musicians these guys are. A true masterpiece!
Clearly, Right?? So good
Skilled talented creative innovative...
What a great vibe player with alot of soul and funk
Rex Rideout was a Beast on the keys! 🎹

As a 4-mallet guy Gary Burton is great, but Roy Ayers he is not!
