Hello Katrina! Thank you for asking~ ^^ Hm... My tips are to be honest, get experience, and be professional ^^. I got my TEFL certificate from my uni so our in-class hours greatly exceeded the requirements of EPIK. And in class, we got real-life experience in teaching and working with non-native English speakers. My uni focuses on adult english learners since it is more common in my state. But it really helps you build the foundations in pedagogy if you are a non-teacher major. Even though you pass EPIK, your schools are ultimately the ones who selects you. I was really lucky because I was placed in a school that really valued my teaching philosophy. So I think making sure that you fill all those in and being honest is really important to getting a placement that matches you. When applying to EPIK, itself, apply as early as possible~ That way, you have a bigger pool where your applications will be sent to. And it helps if you run into any hiccups down the road. For an example, I had to do the fingerprint test 4-5 times because my lines were too thin 😅😅. And because of the pandemic, my visa was almost cancelled 😂😂 And lastly, I wanted to leave a tip for when you move to Korea. Don't have any expectations and be open and prepared for all situations. I think this is what has made me the happiest in Korea. Everything was a happy surprise and I was able to be genuinely happy with all of my experiences in Korea ^^. I hope this helped you~ A detailed summary of my application timeline can be found here: jessicastravelogue.com/2020/05/06/my-epik-application-process-timeline-spring-2020/ And I am super excited for your future endeavors. I wish you the best of luck! -Jessica ^^
