Thank you Mr. Froud, your work literally saved my life. Life was getting very hard for me, even unbearable, I found your book in a thrift shop and never heard of you. I was pulled in and it honestly and put a light in my life. Thank you for the art work.
So any other artist out there, STICK TO THE ART. You might just save someone.
Thank you! ♥
Also, its not just the puppetry that makes these movies unique, but the physical props and and interaction with them, and the lighting that reflects from the puppets and their surroundings.
A True mastermind, love All of his art
100% agree. Brian and Wendy Froud are the faery king and queen!
Holy crap, Mr. Froud actually looks like my favorite teacher from high school now! Also I'm so jealous that you got to talk to him. He's been my favorite artist since before even Toshiyuki Itahana, and really helped me form my own style.
Still, really rare to get to see im in an interview! Thanks for showing this!
You're very welcome, bandokanon! My aim is to share my love for DC and all content with the entire fandom. It was an absolute pleasure to meet both Brian and Wendy, and a privilege to interview Brian; you're right, it's very rare to see him in such an interview. Hopefully with the making of documentary for AOR we'll see a lot more of him, and the entire Froud family!
Wonderful interview, thank you 💜
So wonderful to see this.
Thanks Sam, glad you enjoyed the video, big thanks goes to Tobias for making it all happen :)
Love the artist, absolutely love Dark Crystal.
Great to have Brian involved in this new series. Sad to think we missed out on another collaboration between him and Jim Henson.
Absolutely, can't wait to see his contributions to the show with the world of Thra, so much to look forward to.
This is exactly what i wanted to see to give the new series the proper chance. I dont think i would have if Brian Froud hadnt had his fingers in the pie to contribute his unique art style for a true Dark Crystal experience. I love this man, his family, and his Creativity. Nothing else is like it
Its great that the Froud's are still involved on Dark Crystal projects, can't image Dark Crystal without them and its fantastic that Toby's been involved on the show as well :)
@@DarkCrystalPodcast The frouds are in my opinion the ones who truly breath life into the movies. The world is a perfect fey land with dangers and fun alike. I wish sometimes i could just step into his worlds and explore all the tiny details they have to offer.
Brian and Wendy are brilliant!
Toby too!!
I remember reading that the next project him and Jim were to work on was going to be a movie about trolls.
Great interview... love his answers about CGI, storytelling, and why he isn't an illustrator. :D
The GOAT
I would die and go to heaven if he came to DFW Texas!!! He is my favorite artist!
Missed opportunity to ask him who exactly is J.J. LLwellyn, author of "World of the Dark Crystal". I think it's Froud under a pseudonym.
Hopefully if we have him on the podcast in the future I might very well ask him that question :)
Isn't him also the father of Toby Froud, the baby actor from Labyrinth (which Brian also designed)? It would be interesting to hear what Toby has to say today of his famous role, the baby with the power.
Isabella Felipe de Oliveira Campos yes, Toby is his son and a talented puppeteer.
Btw, really good questions 👌
Thanks! I tried to put some thought into them! :-P
@@tobiasrowe254 You did a great job! :D
19:05 the hologram clouds are here to kill us us.
He looks like a podling :)
