Hannah pleeeeeeeease do a drugstore version of this! There are a million tinted balms at the drugstore but I cannot find one in a nice neutral or slightly grungy color that isnt too pigmented. The closest I’ve found is the wet n wild rose comforting lip color in Taffy daddy which is a neutral brown but i want something even cooler.
Have you tried the E.L.F. "Hydrating Core Lip Shine" thing? I actually really LOVE that formula, and the darkest of the six available colors (Ecstatic, a muted raisin/plum) is suuuuper wearable. Strongly suspect the other shades wouldn't have enough pigment for my tastes, but that one's excellent. Downside : As is typical with a lot of drugstore brands, the packaging isn't the greatest. Two episodes of the cap popping off in my bag means it's no longer a ride-along/go-to for me, so it lives on my desk instead. Strongly considering melting some down in the microwave and using them to refill empty chapstick-style tubes that DO stay closed, sigh.
Seconding this! I would run through a glossy balm so fast so wouldn't want to buy a new one every month or two. I personally love Loreal Colour Riche Dazzling Doe (a GORGEOUS cool toned nude shade) but I think that was discontinued T_T
I feel like a broken record but k-beauty/j-beauty. Tinted balms have been a staple beauty product in Asia since forever and they have them at every price point. I feel like I remember you reviewing one a long time ago? The Nivea tinted balm? If not I highly recommend perusing YesStyle (or StyleKorean / BloomingKoco etc) and picking out a few to try.
@@Anasheed3the romand tinted balm is amazing! the colors are gorgeous, it's super even and has a slight shine, and the smell/taste is a super nice lychee and rose.
@@Anasheed3 seconding @luiysia . the romand glasting balms are gorgeouss, so hydrating and last on my lips for a good 3-4 hours at least. They don't exaggerate your lip lines and the colours are MLBB. my fave is nougat sand
Dr. Pepper Lip Smacker! As long as you don't mind the smell/taste (I love Dr. Pepper, but not the carbonation or caffeine, so I love it), it is a lovely sheer tint that is moisturizing.
for a drugstore option: i always love and go back to the burt’s bees tinted lip balm. specifically the shade red dahlia, i haven’t tried the other shades bc i find this one so perfect lol. it feels nourishing in my opinion and adds the perfect tint.
I was just about to post this myself. Clinique almost lipstick is perfection. The 90’s classic black honey and the newer pink honey that can be worn as a sheer pinky nude or with a liner for modern take on a 90’s look as well.
My favorite tinted lip balm is the Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment in shade Cocoa :D it’s super nourishing, has a light brownish tint that reminds me of a waaaay less saturated version of the brown lipstick my mom used in the 90s, and has a really nice lemony scent. ❤
I have this in the shade Plum and I love it! Definitely like a desaturated berry-purple, I also like that it's basically impossible to go overboard w/ the level of pigment
Sadly, what you are describing is the YSL Candy Glaze that is shiny, shockingly persistent given its shine, and comes in colors that even my ginger self can wear. The flavor/scent wasn’t initially for me, but the formula won me over. At $42 a pop, I hate to have fallen for this one as hard as I have.
Three amazing products: 1) Chanel Rouge Coco Baume (I think you’d enjoy shade 938 Keep Cool or 914 Natural Charm). and 2) Bobbi Brown Extra Lip Tint Sheer Oil-Infused Tinted Lip Balm (I see you earring Bare Nude or Bare Claret), and 3) Sisley Phyto Lip Twist (many shades seem to be up your alley). All formulas are very hydrating and have surprising staying power for balms.
For K-Beauty I really enjoy the Romand Glasting Melting Balm. It's quite thick but it has a pleasant feeling on the lips and I love every color. The shades are muted and not too pigmented. It does have a scent that I can never place but it's not overpowering to me and it fades quickly.
I love those! And I also love the smell that I can't quite describe. I'm a medium skin tone girl so I like their more pigmented colors but they have new more nude shades that Hannah might enjoy 🥰
The YSL Candy Glaze tinted balms have completely pushed out all of my other lip products! They do come with a luxury price tag but between the finish, the colors, the smell, the weight of the packaging, and the overall feeling of delight every time I use them, I keep repurchasing! 10/10 recommend. I alternate between the sheer 2 and a red 7. The 7 is quite pigmented and sometimes I layer it over 2 😊
Im dry af, pale af, and I live in a cold climate, so my go to has always been the THINNEST sheer of vaseline in the morning as part of my skincare and then clinique black honey throughout the day. I love the sheerness of the colour but I wish it was more waxy (to trap moisture), hence the vaseline first. I love how I dont need a mirror to apply either product and I especially love how I only need to apply the vaseline once throughout the day. Perhaps I'm basic, but at least I am moisturized and never have to think about exactly what I'm using everyday 😅
Thanks for tackling this! As a person with low-contrast features and very little pigmentation in my lips, I’ve had many similar disappointing applications of lip products that carry just too much pigment for everyday. I’ve come to appreciate brands that show before-and-after photos with their lip products so you can see how much color there inherently is in a model’s lips *before* applying the color so one can gauge how sheer, or not, a lipstick/gloss/balm might be.
Definitely do a luxury and a drugstore version of this please! I bought the Dior lip glow in 001 and to my surprise I finished it and liked it enough to repurchase. It stays on forever and is neither sticky not slippy and has some sort of background unadvertised plumping something to it. In an effort to maybe not spend that much all the time on lip balm, I bought some of the No. 7 Hydra Luminous lip balms from Target and while they might be more saturated than you would like, the texture and complete lack of smell is pretty nice. The E.L.F. tinted balm stinks and is a no for me. I'd love to find a less expensive dupe for the Dior.
The Dior sheers ARE pretty good! I also really like the Givenchy "Interdit" balm, the one that looks black but goes on sheer plum. I've struck out on most drugstore ones except the e.l.f. Hydrating Core Lip Shine (that one doesn't have much of a scent at all to me? maybe you mean the mini one in the super short fat bullet? I think those are scented). Milani, L'Oreal, Maybelline, and Revlon always put out things that LOOK like I'd love them, but as soon as I open one I'm hit with a miasma of "Molten Plastic Vanilla Cupcake Batter" or "So Xtreemly Minty It'll Clear Your Sinuses" and *gag*. :(
I own quite a few Dior lip glows, my fav being the Rose Gold. They r something I consistently finish and repurchase…I have a heart attack every few years when they reformulate them though.
I would also like to see the dior lip glow in a luxury version of this showdown especially since they’ll really expanded the shades beyond the OG pink and have some brownier shades available. Maybe try mahogany for a brown or rosewood for more of a pinky brown option! They definitely are much sheerer and more of a true lip balm tint than those showcased here
From YesStyle, the Japanese Nivea Rich Care & Color balms. I have Sheer Red. It's *very* sheer. Very moisturizing. And unscented. It's a dream. Its only fault is deeply unglamorous packaging,
I am utterly addicted to the Dior Lip Glow. I feel like it's just about the only "luxury" makeup item I've ever tried that has truly been worth the price.
I like the kisser-slicker formula from Silk Naturals, the opposite of lux packaging, but the formula is well above drugstore. The nourish formula is really nice too.
for a kbeauty dupe for less than half the price i recommend the innisfree dew tint balm! i cannot justify spending $60+ (in my country) on a lip balm haha
Ok!!!! I have tried so many drug store ones. The elf ones, both hydrating core and the sheer slick are kinda meh. The hydrating core in the brown colour I got smelled soo yucky. The slick in cherry slush is pretty nice but not amazing. BUT I just got the rimmel clean and free one in Apricot and Turbo Red for 6.99 (canadian, at shoppers) ITS SO GOOD. No scent, nice transparency while still having a good amount of colour and both shades were so nice. I also like the clean fresh Covergirl in bliss you berry, better than black honey by Clinique even. Sometimes its a little too opaque though, I usually blot it a bit. Burts bees red dahlia is pretty nice but even that minimal scent turns me off sometimes And finally: I really want to try the Marcelle lip loving lip thing in Laughing Coral! Ok hope this helps someone❤
Hannah I think you love gloss sticks, which is what I’d categorize the Hourglass is! They’re a pretty hot product right now so you’ll probably have an easier time by searching for that specific term. I like the tarte maracuja juicy PLUMP; the cherry blossom shade is quite sheer and a very pale, cool toned pink. There’s quite a few kbeauty and cbeauty brands that make them as well. I would avoid the Ysl candy gloss stick; although it’s a great formula, it’s quite pigmented. Also recommend the Givenchy rose perfecto balm (they have stick and liquid versions) and the Dior lip glow balm, like another commenter here. Lastly the makeup by Mario moistureglows have some pretty grungy shades!
I am a fan of MAC Glow play lip balm. It has just enough colour to be tinted without looking like a lipstick. It moisturize the lips, and while the balm part is quickly sucked into your lips, the tint stays for a long time. Highly recommend!
Oh god! I understand your dilemma so much! Everything looks too pigmented on me as well! I just can’t wear lipstick and am so jealous of everyone who can. The only product with pigment that I’ve ever tried where I can actually apply it in several juicy coats and still remain a subtle, balanced look on me is the Surratt balm that’s really similar to the hourglass. And completely agree that it’s IMPOSSIBLE to tell from images snd descriptions the actual pigment level. It’s so frustrating. I vote that this balm search becomes your thing and you keep finding and trying out these products and sharing your results with us! I’d really love your assessment of the Chantechaille Lip Chic, which seems like it might be like the Surratt and Hourglass.
I love the revlon kiss tinted lip balm. I have nearly used up a tube of berry burst. It is moisturizing, has enough tint, and while it has a fruity scent and flavor, it isn't gross or overwhelming. If anyone is looking for a drugstore version, I can't say enough about this one.
Try finding a tinted lip balm that also has spf and is under $8... This is my struggle too lol! Revlon kiss balms are my go-to. Ive found quite a few nice ones without spf, but I'm convinced spf is why my lips never chap, even when it's -30.
A bunch of Korean / Japanese brands sell tinted lip balms with SPF 30 PA++. I haven't tried them, but Asian sunscreen in general is leagues ahead of American sunscreen. Also, I've heard great things about Neutrogena tinted SPF in Sunny berry as it's supposed to be a dupe for Clinique Black Honey.
Have you tried the Neutrogena revitalizing lip balms with spf 20? They're not under $8, but they're my fave and I always stock up and try different colors when they're on sale at Walgreens or CVS. I also love their MoistureShine lip soother as a bouncy lip gloss with spf.
Lipstick Queen Black Lace Rabbit, sheer black leaves a smokey grey veil, easy to smear on without worrying about edges, with a little bit of sparkle, waxy no scent smell. Reminds me of the effect of the Isamaya gloss
Lip balms, tinted lip balms, and tinted lip glosses/oils are the only things I'm putting on my lips. Yeah, I can imagine my fantasy self wearing a bold lipstick all I want, but day to day, that never ever happens, and I'm always going to choose a sheer, nourishing product. I also don't want a ton of pigment and hate the false advertising! My choices are even more limited by the fact that I insist on nearly all daily lip products I use having SPF.
Once again your super Virgo-esque level of detail is SO helpful. I definitely dont want super shiny (nor do I want matte as my lips see anything matte and go dry in 5 minutes), so all of the ones that don’t make the cut bc not shiny enough are my dream 🤗
For drugstore, Covergirl Clean Fresh tinted balms are so great and fragrance free, also K beauty, there are so many products like these, I have a nice one from Romand
I feel like the Rom&nd Glasting Melting Balms would fit your criteria - I am in LOVE with the nougat sand shade - moisturizing, shiny, sheer but MLBB, and so easy to apply in 2 swipes. It’s very similar in formula to the Hourglass one you tried.
The tinted wild harvested huckleberry tinted lip balm from Boreal Folk is absolutely fabulous and SO nourishing!! Ticks all the boxes- cardboard packaging, smells natural and soft and you can just keep applying. Super highly recommend!

The LH cosmetics fantastick in the shade Topaz really fits your description of a tinted lip balm. It has an exquisite shiny and smoothing texture, and the shade is a sheer cool beige that really works with my pale olive skin. The vanilla scent is barely noticeable, and it has an SPF too.
Givenchy lip perfecto, dior lip glow, guerlain bee kiss, you have tinted balms there that are not lipsticky. Very sheer, comfy apply without the mirror type
I recently picked up Pony by Glossier. I’m med super neutral olive, dark soft summer coloring (low contrast) & very plummy lips. I tried Villa but it went orange & too light on me. Giving ghost as most nudes do. Pony is slightly cooler & darker than Villa & it’s exactly right. I think you’d like it!! I slather it on no mirror & its doesn’t dry my lips out. I have Cachet & Ember as well. I like them but they have a higher pigment load. I love the colors but it’s enough pigment I want those colors in a slightly stiffer formula.

So informative, as always! You should try the Elizabeth Arden 8 hour tinted lip balm, it has spf15 which is just excellent in my opinion. Oh! And for your drugstore/affordable version you should try the Kiko Milano tinted balm, specifically shade 06 is exactly that cool pink that’s so flattering on a bare face.
I used the Fresh Sugar lip treatment in the shade rose for years until the SPF was removed when reformulated. I have boycotted since then but I have found nothing to replace it. It’s such a beautiful, sheer, my lips but better product.
I LOVE the Hourglass balm in Rise - I got it last fall and it was one of my most-worn lip products over the past few months. Great product and fantastic color!
I think Linda Hallberg Fantasticks would give you the sheet pigmentation you want. However, I'm unsure if this product is going to be discontinued. I adore the amethyst one, as it is a true purple but very sheer. Very unique.
It definitely depends on the shade. I have two. Pop (which I think might be discontinued) is a bright hot pink, definitely not subtle. Famous is a somewhat pigmented beige.
My favorite is the kiko Milano tinted lip balm in 08 almond. It’s very sheer and absolutely lovely on the lips. It’s smells of amaretto though, witch I love, but not everyone might 😅 the scent vanishes quickly once it’s applied though. Absolute recommendation 😊
My favorite item in this category recently is the Revlon Super Lustrous Glass Shine Lipstick, in Toasting Glasses. “Lipstick” is definitely a misnomer with this, as it is more of a tinted lip balm. Good pigment level so it’s not clear, but you can definitely see some color, not too much. Fairly shiny, doesn’t have much of a scent, feels nice on the lips, they have some desaturated shades.
Fun to watch, Hannah! My personal favorite is tarte High Shine Maracuja Juicy Lip Plump in Primrose (we have similar complexion). I don't feel like it has any plumping or tingling, just feels nice. xo
Bobbi Brown Extra Lip Tint absolutely meets your requirements and they are the best. I wear them with and without makeup. They're juicy shiny as all get out and visually plumping. AMAZING. Bare Pink and Bare Raspberry are most versatile and natural for my light-medium olive complexion.
There are so many options for K-beauty now that I'm sure there's something for you out there! My favorite right now is the Rom&nd glasting melting balm! Affordable and easy to find! I got mine off of amazon :)
I love the Honest Beauty Lip Balm in Plum drop. It is lightly vanilla scented, stiff yet shiny (maybe not shiny enough compared to Hourglass), and l love the color for my light olive skin tone. I find it nourishing, but not sure if it will be too pigmented on you. I don't wear makeup with it and it's not too pigmented on me. I buy on Amazon. Good luck on your journey!
Definitely try the Tarte Maracuja Juicy Lip (the ones in the PINK packaging!!) my favourite is the colour rose. They are all so sheer they look the same and incredibly nourishing and long lasting!
I'm into minimal makeup so this is a category I enjoy. Thank you! As for drugstore option, I love the Hurraw Black Cherry. Its just enough and super easy.
I love two different colored balms - both come in a range of soft shades but the textures and prices are very different. Jouer balm is a stick. So lovely and reasonably priced. U Beauty is in a tube but has an applicator such that no mirror is needed. It’s gorgeous but hideously expensive. Tawny is my favorite color and I wear it daily. Thanks for this video!
I have way more lip products than one person needs for several lifetimes and I can’t think of much that fits what you are looking for. Most of the products I would suggest for the shine and pigment level you want come in a tube with a doefoot applicator, but you might want to try the makeup by Mario clicky lip things or the Mac squirt gloss stick in the shade simulation, that’s honestly probably the best bet it’s a sheer sort of a greigey brown color. Tarte used to have these stick gloss things in their sea line but I think they might have been discontinued for the maracuja lips

The best tinted lip balm ever was bought at a neighbourhood fair and was made by an 11 year old girl and her older sister, nourishing, perfect level of tint, on the dryer grippy side, good lasting power, and the PERFECT shade of brick red. It eventually went bad and got all melty, and ive been chasing this kind of product ever since!
I think you would really enjoy the Linda Hallberg FantaSticks. They feel very similar to the merit lip sticks but are even more sheer. Love them and have repurchased several times already. 😊
I purchased a multi pack of tinted Burt's Bees and they were a delight. The packaging is unimpressive but I think they would fit within your parameters.
Great video! I’m also on the search to find an everyday tinted lip balm. The ones I’m loving right now (including the Nars lip glows, love them!) are the Fresh sugar lip balms (they have a variety of colors to try), the Em Cosmetics lip cushions (very similar to the Hourglass IMO), & the Charlotte Tillbury happikiss lipstick balms (they are on the more pigmented side, but so long lasting & nourishing)
I know in this one you said you were trying high end, but you need to try the rom&nd glasting melting balms, they're amazing, it has a fruity kind of apricot scent, but it’s not overly sweet
You’re speaking my language! Thank you for doing this!!! I think many cosmetic companies have lost the plot. They are designing snapshot products for a beauty influencer/supermodel selfie, not for average women. We want something simple and low maintenance, that looks good as we go about our day. I miss Laura Mercier’s old “lips” series: Baby Lips, Healthy Lips, etc. They are more highly pigmented than you are looking for here, but they were natural and they made women look good!
I have one from Naturium that has been recommended by a few ladies I follow here - I haven't tried it yet, though. I want to finish one up before I open it. I am hoping it fits this bill!
Dior lipglow sounds like the perfect description you are looking for! It is super light color, smells nice and light, the glow seems less than the hourglass but the color is less too and very lipbalmy nourishing :)) I’m sure there are cheaper alternatives but using it brings me joy 💕
For luxury I'm interested in the YSL balm, but I've heard it's quite fruity in scent. For drugstore adjacent (kbeauty), I personally do enjoy the Romand Glasting Melting Balm, but the pigment levels can vary between shades. Nougat Sand and Coco Nude have both been good my-lips-but-better shades in my experience, and they just released an all "nude" series of colors.
I LOVE this stuff but it's definitely casual vamp on my super pale skin so it might be too pigmented for other pale folks. For a no look, slightly vampy lip that smells like berries though... 100/10
I know this is unrelated but I would be so interested in your take on accessories. I know in your fashion/styling videos you do touch on some but I would love a dedicated video on accessories. Jewelry, belts, bags, etc
I bought the same Hourglass Rise based on Vicki Louise's recommendation and I love it! I was worried it would be too cool toned but it is actually perfect for me. I just wish there was a non-plumping version. I'm often sensitive to mint, thankfully this isn't too strong, but it would be my ride-or-die without the mint. I'm also scent sensitive so I'm glad it is very very mildly scented. Love the quiet packaging too.
try the glossier balm, they have a matte version and a more glossy version. from what i can tell they check all the boxes, lightly pigmented but still pretty colors, no scent, shiny finish, bullet format
I love the Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment balm in the shade Honey, I’m on the fairer side and it’s the perfect my lips but better color. It feels super smooth with a very light sheen and a pretty hint of color, it has a light sweet smell but nothing to noticeable, it’s on the pricier side but it has plenty of product that even if you apply all day you won’t even make a dent on the how much you’ve used.
Dior Lip Glow in Rosewood is my only version of this type of thing. I personally like the faint stain it leaves behind - but I hear the mahogany one isn't so pink PH adjusting vibes. As luck would have it, that PH adjusting pink looks really nice on my pale "peaches and cream" skintone, so I've been through 3 tubes of it!
I can recommend Artdeco Color Booster Lip Balm for this purpose. If you want it to be more glossy, a couple of the colors of their lip gloss are also sheer. I live in Germany and Artdeco is one of my favorite makeup brands. The prices are also not expensive. I think my favorite product from them is their No Color Setting Powder. I don't know if you have access to their products in US.
No no no I used this as my only lip balm for so long until I tried others. The color plum drop and low pigment level are good, but it’s so hard and waxy I have to swipe it a million times to get any product off! I found the wet and wild rose comforting lip color in Pecan was a better version of the honest, with the fatal flaw of a horrible crayon scent. I’m onto trying Rom&nd glasting melting balm now
This look is easily accomplished using products you have at home. Use a sheer gloss as a base then add a pigmented gloss over top. Add color slowly until you reach your desired pigment level. You can do this with softer lipsticks as well.
I'm here to publicly apologize for this thumbnail...I worked on it for so long that I completely lost the plot
honestly? obsessed with it

So no apology necessary.
Ok into the video.

Yes
Seconding this! I would run through a glossy balm so fast so wouldn't want to buy a new one every month or two.
I personally love Loreal Colour Riche Dazzling Doe (a GORGEOUS cool toned nude shade) but I think that was discontinued T_T
@@culturecrashALthe other issue is that the product is TINY. like legit there's less than 2 cm worth of lipstick in there
I was coming to say that very same thing. There are a LOT of these at the drugstore and I'd love to see comparisons/reviews.
Never stop making your detailed, in the weeds, exhaustive makeup content! I am so here for the comparing and contrasting. ❤
I second this!
Do you have any specific recommendations?
I really want to get into k-beauty but find it so difficult to navigate as its so unfamiliar to me.

Dr. Pepper Lip Smacker! As long as you don't mind the smell/taste (I love Dr. Pepper, but not the carbonation or caffeine, so I love it), it is a lovely sheer tint that is moisturizing.
for a drugstore option: i always love and go back to the burt’s bees tinted lip balm. specifically the shade red dahlia, i haven’t tried the other shades bc i find this one so perfect lol. it feels nourishing in my opinion and adds the perfect tint.
yes!! they’re the best.
@@nursemallorey packaging isn’t the cutest and not giving luxury but the formula 1000% is!
Love the Hibiscus shade. I have never found a better tinted balm high end or otherwise
Omg was just gonna recommend this too
I have the color Daisy, and it stays in my bag with me when I’m out. It’s great.
Clinique black honey definitely belongs in the line up.
I came here to say this. The Pink Honey should also be up for consideration.
Even their chubby sticks, too. On me, strawberry looks like very little, but feels protective.
I thought this also
I was just about to post this myself. Clinique almost lipstick is perfection. The 90’s classic black honey and the newer pink honey that can be worn as a sheer pinky nude or with a liner for modern take on a 90’s look as well.
I dunno why black honey dont last that long on my lips.
"it smells strongly like horseradish, but that's not bothering me." 😂 I don't think that would be something I'd want to put on my lips every day.
😂
My favorite tinted lip balm is the Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment in shade Cocoa :D it’s super nourishing, has a light brownish tint that reminds me of a waaaay less saturated version of the brown lipstick my mom used in the 90s, and has a really nice lemony scent. ❤
I’ve had my eye on this balm! Glad to hear someone speak so highly of it!
I have this in the shade Plum and I love it! Definitely like a desaturated berry-purple, I also like that it's basically impossible to go overboard w/ the level of pigment
I was coming here to suggest the exact same
Agreed! I love this product and the shade cocoa
Ditto. Would love to see how this one stacks up. I like the red one but it’s probably too pigmented
The smell/taste on that one killed me and I was so sad! But honestly, given the price I feel like maybe I dodged a bullet 😂
Could you say more about the flavor/scent? This is something I'm really sensitive to, but I've been considering the candy glazes for awhile
@@jmholsinit’s sort of a fruity , sweet scent. It’s hard to describe, I don’t mind it, but it’s entirely personal.
I feel like it’s “watermelon-y”. And I looove it. Ugh. The “clear” is my go to. Amazing product!!
Thanks all for chiming in! Sounds like I'm gonna have to place an order 🤤
For a cheap alternative, Nivea Blackberry Shine looks and feels good
that one is properly pigmented too. The pomegranate and watermelon ones are nice too and not so pigmented.
Completely agree. Came to say this. There is Strawberry as well. It’s definitely balmy as opposed to being a stick gloss.
That one's very pigmented but not really all that nourishing IMO.
Second that🎉
Three amazing products: 1) Chanel Rouge Coco Baume (I think you’d enjoy shade 938 Keep Cool or 914 Natural Charm). and 2) Bobbi Brown Extra Lip Tint Sheer Oil-Infused Tinted Lip Balm (I see you earring Bare Nude or Bare Claret), and 3) Sisley Phyto Lip Twist (many shades seem to be up your alley). All formulas are very hydrating and have surprising staying power for balms.
I would love a drugstore version of this. I recently bought the Elf hydrating core lip balm in the shade Happy, and I’m enjoying it quite a bit.
I hated the smell of whichever one I got
For K-Beauty I really enjoy the Romand Glasting Melting Balm. It's quite thick but it has a pleasant feeling on the lips and I love every color. The shades are muted and not too pigmented. It does have a scent that I can never place but it's not overpowering to me and it fades quickly.
I love those! And I also love the smell that I can't quite describe. I'm a medium skin tone girl so I like their more pigmented colors but they have new more nude shades that Hannah might enjoy 🥰
I just ordered Scotch Nude, does anyone know if this is truly neutral or if it goes orange?
The new NYX fat oil slick click is exactly what you’re describing! Going viral shade is beautiful!
I had a NYX balm and while loved the color the synthetic smell made it a big no….
Have it and love it.
I just looked it up, it looks super pigmented, though. But to me personally, that's not a deterrent. I may pick it up, thanks for the recommendation!
yes! The shade "trending topic" is super sheer and lovely (a great grungy purply brown)
how is the smell?
For drugstore tinted lip balm, I dig the good old Burt’s bees! Maybe not enough pigment for you but I love to just smear it all over.
It’s my favorite too. And it actually protects and moisturizes my lips. What colors do you like?
@@lucybarrington4634 I love pomegranate year round and I especially like red dahlia in the summer
@@deirdrebridge I have never tried pomegranate. I love Red Dahlia and I used to use one called Daisy. It was a nice pink.
I love the elf tinted balms with the little heart in the core
I really like the Loreal Color Riche Glow ones! I think one colour was seen as a dupe for the dior balms, just cant remember which one!
On luxury, I really enjoy the PML lip balm in a sheer grey. It's a niche color, but flattering on me, truly sheer, and very flattering.
Its only fault is deeply unglamorous packaging,
I want to try Bordeaux and brown cherry the black honey dupes but they are always out of stock!!!
Second this!!
I am utterly addicted to the Dior Lip Glow. I feel like it's just about the only "luxury" makeup item I've ever tried that has truly been worth the price.
Same! I was going to suggest this! I really like the Rosewood shade
@@BBeaves omg that's my fav too! I'm on my third tube 😃
This is my suggestion too! Love the rosewood shade
The goldilocks of lip balms. Not too thin, not too thick, not too pigmented, not too scented
...... ❤❤❤❤
I would love a drugstore lineup like this 😊
Burts bees red dahlia is pretty nice but even that minimal scent turns me off sometimes
And finally: I really want to try the Marcelle lip loving lip thing in Laughing Coral!
Ok hope this helps someone❤
@@keegan5644 This is great, thank you! Does the covergirl have any scent/flavor?
@@Quinn-wh1nv nope :)
You should try the Bobbi Brown one, it is every thing you want
Yes! I came here to say this! Bobbi Brown Extra Lip Tint. Perfection! Checks all your boxes!!!
The Bobbi Brown is nice 👍
I just commented suggesting the same. I have the NARS too but Bobbi Brown WINS! 🎉 They're simply the best.
I love Olio e Osso balm. I also have fair skin and prefer a sheer moisturizing balm.
I found a million of them when I was in Vietnam. It let me do makeup as a boy and still get away with slight lip changes.
Ohh so good to know I love the kosas sport but 8$ yes please
Try Neutrogena's Revitalizing Lip Balm with SPF in the shade Fresh Plum. More brownish than purple, the SPF makes it last.
Have you tried the Neutrogena revitalizing lip balms with spf 20? They're not under $8, but they're my fave and I always stock up and try different colors when they're on sale at Walgreens or CVS. I also love their MoistureShine lip soother as a bouncy lip gloss with spf.
So good!
Lipstick Queen Black Lace Rabbit, sheer black leaves a smokey grey veil, easy to smear on without worrying about edges, with a little bit of sparkle, waxy no scent smell. Reminds me of the effect of the Isamaya gloss
Poppy King sold the brand, and the company that bought it let it go under. Now only old stock is being sold off. It was a great line!
@@lavoixdevelours that’s so disappointing, I saw it online recently and thought they’d brought the product back
I used to love lipstick queen! So sad they’re gone.
I’ve heard those Covergirl ones expire quickly and start to smell off… also the shade bliss you berry is always sold out lol otherwise I would try!
I used up a Covergirl one I kept in my purse. It never went “off”. I wish they would bring out more shades.
I would love to see you do another battle like this with drugstore options 👀
Love tinted lip balms. I currently use the Ilia and RMS and they are both in bullets and really comfortable to wear. Love them both
MY HOLY GRAIL VIDEO. I can't tell you how excited I am to watch this! This is my search too!
Todays look is giving me a contemporary Mrs. Peel/Diana Rigg vibe. Righteous!
This is definitely going to reflect positively on your performance review!
The tinted wild harvested huckleberry tinted lip balm from Boreal Folk is absolutely fabulous and SO nourishing!! Ticks all the boxes- cardboard packaging, smells natural and soft and you can just keep applying. Super highly recommend!
State of Kait does tons of reviews of these types of products and she has some roundups that are great resources!
I’m also a fan of the Bobbi Brown extra lip tint in bare blackberry. Not as glossy as some of the others but black honey vibes

I wanted to recommend MAC glowplay lip balm! I think it meets all of your criteria. Rouge awakening may be a color you’d like
YES please to the drugstore version!! I only buy drugstore so would be so grateful for this!
Givenchy lip perfecto, dior lip glow, guerlain bee kiss, you have tinted balms there that are not lipsticky. Very sheer, comfy apply without the mirror type
The Guerlain is fantastic! I have rose and honey shades and always admire the case. Only downside is that Guerlain is hard to shop in person.
I have the rose one too. It's a lovely experience indeed. I have a guerlain butique, and guerlain makeup is mostly available in sephoras where I live.
I loveeeeee pony

So informative, as always! You should try the Elizabeth Arden 8 hour tinted lip balm, it has spf15 which is just excellent in my opinion. Oh! And for your drugstore/affordable version you should try the Kiko Milano tinted balm, specifically shade 06 is exactly that cool pink that’s so flattering on a bare face.
You should try the Burt’s Bees tinted lip balms! It’s not as glossy as you’re looking for, but it’s moisturizing and provides a sheer wash of color.
I definitely prefer the bullet format too.
What shade??
@@Justaregularoldplumbusi have 05 Nougat Sand! it's warm brown color. they have a lot of different shades though!
I must have bought about 20 of these...
I'm into minimal makeup so this is a category I enjoy. Thank you! As for drugstore option, I love the Hurraw Black Cherry. Its just enough and super easy.
The lawless ones fit that description for me! Cherry vanilla is like an elevated cherry chapstick
I think this product is the intent of RUclipsr Allie Glines's Effortless Lips. I haven't tried it but may be a good contender
It’s actually more like the ones here that she finds too pigmented
Yes, I was thinking this as well
I have to agree!
I want to try those! would love to see a review
I’m loving the little outtakes at the end. Nice addition ! And the thumbnail for this video cracks me up! Very silly 😆

There are some really great k beauty options too! I loveee the romand glasting melting balms
I’ve never tried the hourglass but from your description the romand sounds quite similar and it’s much more affordable
The best tinted lip balm ever was bought at a neighbourhood fair and was made by an 11 year old girl and her older sister, nourishing, perfect level of tint, on the dryer grippy side, good lasting power, and the PERFECT shade of brick red. It eventually went bad and got all melty, and ive been chasing this kind of product ever since!
lol I swear I had this exact product and it was perfection
I think you would really enjoy the Linda Hallberg FantaSticks. They feel very similar to the merit lip sticks but are even more sheer. Love them and have repurchased several times already. 😊
I purchased a multi pack of tinted Burt's Bees and they were a delight. The packaging is unimpressive but I think they would fit within your parameters.
1000% agree!! i love the red dahlia, it’s perfect in my opinion. Have yet to try any other shades tho
I second this!
Are they really that glossy?
We’re in sync, I literally just spent hours searching for this exact thing, and here you are. Thank you!
Bobbi Brown Extra Lip Tint can be a good idea to try out ❤
You’re speaking my language!
It is super light color, smells nice and light, the glow seems less than the hourglass but the color is less too and very lipbalmy nourishing :))
I’m sure there are cheaper alternatives but using it brings me joy 💕
For luxury I'm interested in the YSL balm, but I've heard it's quite fruity in scent. For drugstore adjacent (kbeauty), I personally do enjoy the Romand Glasting Melting Balm, but the pigment levels can vary between shades. Nougat Sand and Coco Nude have both been good my-lips-but-better shades in my experience, and they just released an all "nude" series of colors.
Yes!!! Nougat sand for the win! I also really love mauve whip. It’s just such a good formula
You literally just described fenty's slip sheen sheer shiny lipstick!!!😮 I love the shade cookies and cocoa.
Nivea $3 blackberry balm ❤
I LOVE this stuff but it's definitely casual vamp on my super pale skin so it might be too pigmented for other pale folks. For a no look, slightly vampy lip that smells like berries though... 100/10
I know this is unrelated but I would be so interested in your take on accessories. I know in your fashion/styling videos you do touch on some but I would love a dedicated video on accessories. Jewelry, belts, bags, etc
Credo doesn’t carry it, but I’m so intrigued by the Mob beauty tinted lip balm in black
She has in a previous vid and didn't like them
I love the Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment balm in the shade Honey, I’m on the fairer side and it’s the perfect my lips but better color. It feels super smooth with a very light sheen and a pretty hint of color, it has a light sweet smell but nothing to noticeable, it’s on the pricier side but it has plenty of product that even if you apply all day you won’t even make a dent on the how much you’ve used.
"Give me something, not nothing, but don't give me too much" cracked me up
Dior Lip Glow in Rosewood is my only version of this type of thing. I personally like the faint stain it leaves behind - but I hear the mahogany one isn't so pink PH adjusting vibes. As luck would have it, that PH adjusting pink looks really nice on my pale "peaches and cream" skintone, so I've been through 3 tubes of it!
Not a luxe brand at all, but I feel the Neutrogena SPF balms tic these must haves. I recently revisited them and right now I'm blowing through them.
Yup! That Fresh Plum is my BFF!
I think the fresh lip balms are still some of the best for feel and hint of color
Hard Candy tinted lip balm!!!! It’s everything!!!
Is it?? Is it shiny? Where do you buy it from I never see hard candy anywhere
@@Justaregularoldplumbus I think they're a Walmart exclusive brand these days?
I can recommend Artdeco Color Booster Lip Balm for this purpose. If you want it to be more glossy, a couple of the colors of their lip gloss are also sheer. I live in Germany and Artdeco is one of my favorite makeup brands. The prices are also not expensive. I think my favorite product from them is their No Color Setting Powder. I don't know if you have access to their products in US.
Honest beauty tinted lip balm !!! Goldilocks tinted lip balm
I’m onto trying Rom&nd glasting melting balm now
This is my favorite type of lip product by far, so I would love to see more show-downs!
This look is easily accomplished using products you have at home. Use a sheer gloss as a base then add a pigmented gloss over top. Add color slowly until you reach your desired pigment level. You can do this with softer lipsticks as well.
But glosses transfer and don’t last 😢
That does not check the “unfussy “box
I also have the same, exact parameters for a lip balm! And I also decided this after using the Nars afterglow! I'm so glad i found your channel! 😮❤
