I have been busy making mini watercolour travel kits. My latest scheme is to use an empty pill container. The ones where you push the pill through the foil, in Australia anyway. Making lots of watercolour paper tiny books etc.. Having a lot of fun seeing what else I can use. ❤🇦🇺

Hi Jennifer! Those are great ideas! I too like to experiment with different kits that I can make.

Great video 😊. I am glad you finally received the pallet you wanted. I admire those who paint with them but I have a difficult time painting with a normal size pallet. Lol I am a mess! 😂

Thank you! I also rather paint with a bigger palette and paper. I love my big brushes! I’m not as good with a water bush and painting on a small scale. But, I love how portable these pallets are. I can stick them in my pocket when I go for a walk. When I’m walking or hiking I don’t like having to carry much more than a bottle of water. It also helps me to make faster 5 to 10 minute paintings. I see them as practice, what I learn in the field helps me in to studio. 🙂

Loved the video! I have one that holds 16 colors…and I have as yet to figure out what colors I want to use. I also have a mini with 8 colors so I am anxious to see what colors you put in your palettes. I don’t have a mini book, but I plan to make one, so I’ll have a kit to fit in my pocket. Thanks so much for sharing this video!

@@nellkrams3698 thank you! I will try to post a video soon. I basically went wit a split primary palette and a couple of earth colors. Ultramarine Blue, manganese blue hue. Alizarin crimson permanent and quinacridone rose. Hansa yellow medium, burnt sienna, a raw sienna, and phthalo green. I may end up changing the phthalo green with a sap green when I use it up. And i might change the alizarin crimson to pyrrole scarlet, or another warm red. I was out of it so I just went with the alizarin crimson.

Just came across this video. Thank you for showing the Go Draw and Natsume palettes side by side. It was helpful to see the differences between them. And what a great idea to make a little viewfinder that doubles as a frame outline! Also, the color mixing you did with just the three primaries was amazing! I love using a limited palette and mixing colors. It’s so useful for learning color theory. By the way, I found clips just like those gold ones at Dollar Tree. They are rubber coated, not bare metal, but they work great.

Thank you! After using both pallets, They are both made very similar. I actually think the Natsume is a great value and maybe more useful because the wells hold a little more paint. Thanks for the tips!

Hi from across the pond! Thank you so much! I’m so happy to hear you enjoyed this video! And so glad you like my voice 🙂. I usually use the water brush because it is the most convenient. But if you watch one of my most recent videos I show how I attach a little mini mint tin with a magnetic clip to the sketchbook. You can fill one side with water to use with a normal travel brush.

Hi Kim, I’ve been stuck on which palette to buy! Is there one you reach for more often between the 8 cell palettes? I liked the video but I’m still stuck on deciding. Would love your feedback! ❤ Loved you did a video on the exact two brands I liked!

    • @kimberlyhyltonart

Hello Nikki! To be honest, I just got both of the 8 cell pallets. I haven’t filled the Natsume pallet with paint yet. So I haven’t had the chance to test it out. I personally like the Go Draw palette best. The resin is beveled up on the edges better in the paint cells. It’s tiny and cute and the little sketchbooks are very nice. But, they are in limited stock, so if you decide you want one then you might want to try to order it as soon as possible. The artist that makes the Go Draw palette is in Russia and the shipping is difficult at this time. The link to the Go Draw palette is shipped from the US so it only takes a week or two to get it. I heard she was the inventor of that style of palette. But I can’t say for certain. However, if you want bigger paint wells and mixing space the Natsume palette is nice too. It ships from China, but it took less than two weeks for me to get it. It’s also about $20 cheaper. You really can’t go wrong either way. They are both nice.

If you put a notch in the center edge of the board approximately 3/4” wide X 1-2” high. You can slide the board between the paper and the sketchbook cover so that the sketchbook helps hold the board. If you follow what I’m saying.

Or $5 on Temu, with $ to get one for a friend too ! 😂 But the knockoffs aren’t resin coated or beveled in the wells or mixing area, or as nicely finished. So they may not last as well. If I use it enough and the habit sticks I’ll spring for the GODRAW someday. 😂

Hi! I know they are costly for the tiny little palettes. I saw some similar ones on Amazon that are a lot cheaper. But, I don’t have one so I can’t tell if the quality is the same. I don’t think it would hurt to try one if the price is right.

@@kimberlyhyltonart I have been been watching your videos today while I'm sick I went to Dollar Tree thinking about your idea what the binder clip magnet and found some smaller ones at the Dollar Tree along with some decent brushes and they had these four pack of silver containers that you can easily take and put a sponge in there and you need to wipe your brush or just use it for a water reservoir and I believe I have some with the magnet already on the back of them that are sold just In one piece

I’m certain your channel will grow if you simplify, the spastic hands was unnerving. Just a friendly tip!

There is no comparison in terms of how well the Go Draw palette is made as compared to the knock offs… the thickness of the wood and how the magnets hold are very superior in the Go Draw…also it is their design and others have just copied it :(

    • @kimberlyhyltonart
      @kimberlyhyltonart  2 месяца назад

Yes, I agree. You are right, the others are just copy cats. But, at the time that I bought the other palette I was having trouble getting the Go Draw palette which was the one that I really wanted. I did this video to compare the two in case other people were having the same problem and needed an alternative tiny palette.
