Jack Dempsey was BAMF weighed like 185 pounds but could bang with anyone. Not the most technical but my god the most ferocious and the best killer instinct of all time. Dempsey went in the ring to knock you the fuck out, not win on points. There is something so raw about the manassa mauler that is hard to describe. To excel at track and field you have to have strong, developed fast-twitch muscle fibers, the same type that are used in power lifting. Most of the fastest track athletes are black and most of the strongest men are white so work ethic, consistency, and choice are the most important aspects of a champion, not race.
Well if getting your entire central nervous system permanently severely damaged is 'leaving it all in the ring" then maybe it's good that things are tempered some.Since Roman times boxers have born out of desperate circumstances,and as these improve some,then boxing probably has a harder time finding talent.I feel lucky to have youtube because i can go back and look at tremendous fights again and again from ALL of the great era's,with ALL the great champs.Yes,USA boxings ALOT worse now,i agree.
No they were not. His Father's bloodlines had Choctaw blood in the past. His Mother had Cherokee blood lines. Dempsey was mostly Irish. Both his parents were dark haired. He was 1/8th native american at most.
I read his book...He was a genius he knew exactly how to concentrate all his power into his punch, he was punching with the pinky,ring and middle finger to absorb the shock and so the bone of your hand and the fingers are a straight solid line, Im bad at exaining but Jack was amazing...

He came of age in last days of a still mainly untame west. he was very poor & on his own by 16.rail hopped across west fighting for food or grueling labor intensive work for the same. went on for some 6 yrs. anyone not thinking this guy came up hard is clueless. black or white, it didnt come much harder in the '10's, then the life of young dempsey. the fighter who destroyed willard was a steel cord, coiled beast of hunger and skill. scary intensity, power & hand/foot-speed. top5 hvy all-time.
Of course genetics are a factor!.Im talkin about fighting,the resourceful will and way to dominate and break down another human,boxer etc.,either individually or in a highly organized army.Dont directly infer we dont have that down, as we virtually invented and evolved it to the science it is.Economically white immigrants have largely moved out of boxing in America[economic factors not genetic]furthermore i'd remind you of the Klitchkos,who are extremely bright and white and obviously "excel".
