I’m a drummer and was flying to Nyc to record and on the conference call we were trying to figure out what equipment everyone needed to bring and the unanimous answer was…my instrument and computer
yep, have to agree with you. In the original recording, they were less confident, less experienced, younger. Their performance skills have improved also. More of themselves is being expressed here.
"Lets check in with news with Kirk, Kirk what's going on?" "Well Montley Crue drummer Tommy Lee says he will not.." "Fuck that, here's some good music"
wtf the low amount of views speaks volumes about the music sucking the attention of people these days in a negative way...poser music with no talent. these guys got mad talent and sound amazing live. such a good catchy song and it's a 90s song that's part of the reason it's great!
The 90s was when radio rock started to suck. Guitar solos was dying the crappy grunge stuff was happening!! I'll take the 80s all day for popular music. 90s I didn't even turn the radio on I was listening to death metal
What's the point now everything is on RUclips immediately and at the touch of a button! The video and the album. The Internet killed the music industry.
There was a time when MTV actually showed many talented people doing creative things! Uninspired, apparently society would rather watch a few people do dumb shit. Sad. Sad. Sad. Truly scares the hell out of me, actually.
This song will always, always remain special to me.❤ Thank you Tonic for bringing such a beautiful way of looking at the world and putting that into a song. You opened up my imagination that summer of 97 when I bought Lemon Parade(lawn mowing money) and were a big part of what inspired me to become a professional musician. Now that I am a grown man, I can connect with these lyrics so much more. I think of my lovely wife. Timeless!
"This here is "Real Rock N' Roll April 2024a.d. Amazing Guitar Player with the Green Gibson Les Paul and a group of very talented Musicians. Great Bass Player, and great drummer and great backup vocals and last but not least a very Good Singer/Frontman. April 2024a.d.
I agree with almost all you said. Thanks for identifying lead guitar, Im still learning (even at a later age!) - it all helps. I don't know their names.. the rest of the comments on their identities are contradictory. Main vocalist has a very good voice & has improved his performance skills a lot to when they first put the song out but needs to improve much further to be considered a great frontman. Maybe he's still somewhat shy. He's not transmitting enthusiasm & connection with the lyrics. Maybe that's as enthusiastic & engaging as he gets? Lead guitarist leaves him for dead in that way. Camera should have concentrated much more on him, especially when doing back up vocals. He exudes everything that song is about, puts his soul into it, as do the rest of the band and as you say, a great guitarist.
This old timer was rocking his guitar at the beach playing to this song. I was super impressed. I probably would have never heard of this song if it wasnt for him.
I bought this CD with my first paycheck from my first job and listened to it on the way to spend the night with my boyfriend and I was so happy. This was the summer of 1997 late June if I remember correctly.
I distinctly remember seeing this live, then thinking, "I'm gonna go buy this album ASAP". All these years later, I say Wicked Soldier is the best track.
The OG band was the best. The drummer was so on point with every single song. Tonic had so many replacement drummers over the years with Pete Maloney being the longest after Kevin Shepard left the OG (which was sad). Tonic is one of the most underrated bands out there. Great music, great songs, great rhythm, great creativity and great generosity by the band. I think there’s only two of the OG band members left Emerson and Dan. Loved when the came to Australia in the late 90’s before KS left the band. Great stuff ❤❤
This is still true and 2024. I saw them play at a community festival and their sound guy was absolutely phenomenal. Perfect harmony, perfect reverb, minimal sound fx. Really great band who cares about real music.
Well I've checked out an old live version (this one) and one from 2018, and for some reason they just don't want to replicate (or play as prominently) the album version's U2ish chimey guitar notes in the chorus. That's one of the elements I always really liked about the song. Oh well.
Ya back in the 80"s or do MTV had a pretty good show. I"M not sure if it even plays anymore. If it does most likely plays current crap where info mercials would be preferable..or just go sit on the porcelain throne and hum tunes
Song still slaps 25 years later.
Facts
It's still an awesome song for sure ,👍🤘
Always will❤
Yes it does!
nice to see people playing REAL instruments on mtv... Oh the good old days.
I’m a drummer and was flying to Nyc to record and on the conference call we were trying to figure out what equipment everyone needed to bring and the unanimous answer was…my instrument and computer
Sounds great live! Doesn't happen very often
When music was actually music, artist were truly artists. Such high quality of sound
Miss performances like this where a performer's voice wasn't all synthesized and corrected. This is real talent.
Man! that live performance is even better than the recorded.
yep, have to agree with you. In the original recording, they were less confident, less experienced, younger. Their performance skills have improved also. More of themselves is being expressed here.
If you are here after 2023 - congrats, you found it.
missing the 90s
+Deon Spears Missing them real bad.
"Lets check in with news with Kirk, Kirk what's going on?"
"Well Montley Crue drummer Tommy Lee says he will not.."
"Fuck that, here's some good music"
Seen this group last night in Niagara Falls NY great song!!!
Back when MTV actually played music on their Music Television channel.

Emerson is a master. Looks hungover here tho lol
Unfortunately the Gen Z have all gone after Swift. If only they knew true music! 🎵🎶 So sad. The new stuff is mostly Trash.
The 90s was when radio rock started to suck. Guitar solos was dying the crappy grunge stuff was happening!! I'll take the 80s all day for popular music. 90s I didn't even turn the radio on I was listening to death metal
2021, still one of the most perfect songs of all time.
song still slaps in my head 27 years laters
This sounds better then the album 👍
Usually I would agree but I love the drum sound they got on the studio version with this track
Man that close to the album version, awesome!
Hey guys legend has it that the "M" in MTV once stood for music :o
Unconfirmed rumor ;)
What's the point now everything is on RUclips immediately and at the touch of a button! The video and the album. The Internet killed the music industry.
There was a time when MTV actually showed many talented people doing creative things!
Uninspired, apparently society would rather watch a few people do dumb shit.
Sad. Sad. Sad.
Truly scares the hell out of me, actually.
Love the way he moves his head. Lol 🐔
When the rock world had gone full grunge and dark, Tonic pulled off something very few did in that era. They gave us two fantastic rock discs.
This song will always, always remain special to me.❤ Thank you Tonic for bringing such a beautiful way of looking at the world and putting that into a song. You opened up my imagination that summer of 97 when I bought Lemon Parade(lawn mowing money)

Their souls just exploded on such a docile crowd. They will remember it forever
90's always the best
I always loved Jeff Russo’s guitar playing. His parts are melodic but with bite. Very talented player.
I was at this taping and loved it! Wish MTV still had music like this!
Remember when MTV was the shit! This and the time Silverchair performed on the roof!
Tempo change acknowledged, this is still pretty damn cool.
Haha yeah, just a little rushed
They had limited time on those shows.
They are musically in the zone and comfortable within their own skin.
You are strechting out your arms to something that just not there -masterpiece lirycs
The shorter version of this song omits this line.
Tonic is such a great band. Saw them in summer 2019 twice and they sounded awesome. Emerson Hart has a fantastic voice and the harmonies are dead on.
Where did you see them?
Colin Montgomery Charlotte and Greensboro NC
Song shows him as a groovemaster dancing to his own tune...
This old timer was rocking his guitar at the beach playing to this song. I was super impressed. I probably would have never heard of this song if it wasnt for him.
Wow when mtv as actually good what happen to television

I still love this song and it’s 2022, 90s rock. Can’t find music like this anymore. Great memories hearing this song 💕

Wow they sound awesome
"That's what you gotta do"

amazing high energy like its record.
The beauty is ..
'If you can only see the way she loves me'..
'how blue her eyes can be'
Mr/Mrs. Potato head interchangeable lyrics..
Brilliant..

He always (especially in the music video) reminded me of john Belushi in the blues brothers..

What??? Music on MTV?
Th M in MTV stands for Money now.
MTV Live (the network) is closest to Music Television today. Good channel.
the best comment!
I might go see them tomorrow night 8/27/21
the type of music mtv promoted obviously has changed a bit lol
I didn’t know Louis CK was the lead singer of Tonic! Hair looks good!

Emerson looking kinda like Steve lukither
Music on MTV?
Absolutely agree live2cd.. MTV is terrible now, with all its garbage "reality" programming.
I can't remember the movie where I first heard this song? I think it's a teen movie, any ideas?
Tonic had another song in "American Pie"
@xxstarssokissablexx very good taste! :)
F in chat for Kurt 0:08
Hahaaa Kirk hahaaa
Miss the old REAL MTV
😧
Chris Redfield love this song and that Black Sabbath cover
lol the singer looks like louis CK
Singer is Louis CK before he lost his hair.
погляд в камеру 😮🔥
Which is the band the guy talks about of at the beginning of the video?
Tonic. Hes referring to "Lemon Parade". Carson made mention of their song, "Thick".
Thanks. Yeah, I realised about that short after I wrote the comment
S2
Louis ck?
Singer is Louis CK before he lost his hair.
Lead singer is about to get someone pregnant with that bobbing and weaving.
When music was still music
