I saw it and your right! Star was more human but could also turn into different animals. There's one deleted scene when he's a horse and Asha is on his back. Both are chased by guards, Starboy changes form. It looked fun and the humor was good! Too bad it wasn't in the movie ☹
The reason why the song lyrics are so bad that Doug didn’t mention is because the songwriters they got were experienced in POP songs, neither had ANY previous experience with musical theatre style songwriting but they decided to hire them instead of someone like the Lin Manuel or the Lopez couple. It’s not the fault of the songwriters themselves, I’m sure they did the best they could but they were not the right fit for this and Disney should’ve known that.
I don't want people to blame the songwriters because it also isn't their fault. Disney only that but they gave the songwriters a description and only 3 weeks to write and didn't let them edit.

They didn’t anything special for their anniversary, WB mostly did is DVD collections, a documentary covering their entire history, and they do have their own Once Upon A Studio special but it’s all in a episode of Teen Titans Go! And what’s even weirder is that *none* of the 2023 movies they released featured the 100 anniversary logo.
The movie was going to be 2D but the animators didn’t due to “ too many limitations in terms of camera movements and characterization” when really, that just process they are lazy and used to 3D and is a pretty big insult to 2D

Then you have to consider Disney doesn't receive all of the money from the box office, as movie theaters take a cut for themselves (50% on average, but it varies a lot). All in all they probably didn't _lose_ money, but most optimistic figures put their profit at around 80 million, which is pitiful compared to the money, effort and time they put into it, especially when you compare it with their previous live-action remakes.

My main issue is pretty much the same thing. What if it wasn’t really Magnifico but Asha who was the true problem. I mean everyone in the kingdom were perfectly fine and happy without their greatest wish when they willingly gave it to Magnifico and were perfectly content with him not granting their wish. This is made even more evident when the grandfather himself told Asha that he was perfectly happy without his wish and didn’t even need to know what it was to be happy and feel fulfilled. And by releasing all of those wishes and granting each of them, what if there were a few that were truly horrific and locked away safely because they were too awful to even be granted? Like an orphan wanting their dead parents to come back to life or someone desiring to take over the entire world and making it a dystopian nightmare? Is wishing the dead back to life against the rules and if it isn’t would it then cause a zombie apocalypse? And what if the revived dead don’t want to be alive again because they know that their original time for living was up and now they know they are abominations to nature and life? Not every wish that a person has is pure and good. Some have evil intentions and Magnifico might have purposely refused to grant those kinds of wishes and now they are roaming freely because Asha decided that keeping all of the wishes locked up was bad. I hope for her sake that no one had a greatest wish to commit genocide to a certain group of people.

Asha really opened up a huge can of worms when she questioned Magnifico and made sure he was overthrown from power.
to think the concept art from the art book from this movie originally the Star was meant to be a shapeshifting Star-Boy and the love-interest for Asha which felt like a missed opportunity and I feel like Disney needs to go back to having a main couple romances in there animated and we haven't had a main couple romance since Tangled and that came out back in 2010
According to some of the concept art from the film's "Art Of" book, Star was originally going to be a shapeshifter with a humanoid base form, basically be a mix of Peter Pan and the Genie in terms of personality, and was hinted to have a possible romance with Asha.
26:26 - 26:51 😠..... I wanted to kinda do what Doug did during his review of Patch Adams and give this movie a belt whooping for sitting through it. I am *so glad* I didn't waste my time and money to see this in theaters.
So we could have; A character like Jack frost from rise of the guardians but with golden skin, a cute romance between him and the heroine, an evil queen AND King. That sounds fun and creative! Too bad we got; An annoying talking goat, boring side characters (I can't remember any of Asha's friends and saw the movie last month) Pop songs who doesn't go AT ALL in a world full of magic and castles, a king who becames evil out of nowhere. The movie would have been so much better if it was like the originals concepts! Once upon a studio is the real 100 years celebration. This 8 minutes short has more passion, respect for animation AND emotion than Wish. I got chills and almost cry when Micjey thanked Walt. It was that good ☺
Anyone else of the opinion that most Disney magic is coming from Disney Television Animation and not from Walt Disney Animation at the moment? Disney may have been proving more and more how much they disrespcet that division, but it seems as though they have been succeeding in things their Film division has been trying but struggling to do since after, IMO, Moana: *Combining comedy and drama in a way that feels organic and actually enhances the story instead of disrupting it. *Telling a self aware and deconstructive narrative that feels legit and like it has something to say about pop culture. *Having main characters that can be as silly as their supporting cast while still being competent and going through arcs that feel nuanced. *Having side characters that are actually funny and go through their own struggles throughout. *Having villains that are either funny, complex, or both, while still having understandable motives and being actually threatening or compelling (to be fair, that's been a problem for Walt Disney Animation since after Wreck-It Ralph). *Having dark imagery as well as themes and not being afraid to scare children. *Having an inclusive cast that's there for representation, instead of just brownie points. *having unhinged humor that still fits the world and characters. *Having said worlds be imaginative and new while still calling back to past stories. Too bad these shows rarely have time for 20 more adventures.
This movie had so many missed opportunities. The villain transformation was too fast, and the references were annoying. Heck I like your idea for the movie at the end. By the way, did you get to watch Once Upon a Studio? It was short, but every reference in there and every single moment worked and it was perfectly paced. It did everything that Wish could have done.

Honestly I didn’t think Wish was that bad. It wasn’t the best Disney movie either. It was just okay and on par with Meet the Robinsons or Chicken Little. I wouldn’t say that the movie was terrible. It wasn’t great but it really wasn’t as bad as some people have claimed. At best it was mediocre and probably would’ve been better received if it came out during any other year that wasn’t a Disney celebration. If it had taken the place of Strange World I think people would just say it’s average at best and not complain about it. Also this movie made me actually side with Magnifico and see how Asha was actually making things worse for literally everyone by wanting to grant all of their wishes. What if a few of them were truly horrible wishes like wanting dead family members to suddenly be alive again or creating a dystopian nightmare world? Those can be someone’s greatest wish. An orphan could realistically want to have their parents living again as their greatest wish and that could go wrong in so many ways including a zombie outbreak.
While watching the movie and then seeing all of the wishes being released, I began asking myself what if one of those wishes were to cause a genocide of a certain group of people or something that seems innocent at first like an orphan wishing their dead parents came back to life and ends up creating a zombie apocalypse? Not every wish that people have is pure and innocent. Some are full of evil intentions or could have negative consequences as a result. The saying be careful of what you wish for exists for a reason.
First of all, i just wanted to say that even though I consider myself to be conservative on most things, I don’t really care about the "woke" crap that much. I just feel like a lot of movies nowadays are just boring, generic, and soulless, and that's what turns off to most modern movies. Secondly, this was probably Disney's biggest L I've seen in years! And this is coming from a guy that saw that Tomorrowland" movie no one remembers in theaters! I mean, I don't get what they were trying to do here! Especially with all those references to other Disney movies! The Once Upon a studio short was a better 100 year celebration of Disney and that was barely six minutes long! Honestly I never liked Snow White. I’ve always wanted a version of the story where it turns out the Queen was actually hood the entire time and the people of the kingdom spread rumors and were bias against her only because she was the King’s second wife and it turns out Snow White was the evil one and now is a cruel tyrant that is making innocent people suffer for her own amusement.
i grew from their golden area.. i've seen how it got ruined.. how talents like robin williams or many others were unpleasent to work with them (even in the good days) the prophet was writen on a wall... its going to suck.. and its going to suck a little harder.. because u prefer empty movie rather then triggering movie.. soon disney might decide to go against the audiance.. all start and end with how to write a story... there many ways.. but today most common way of use is copy paste.. this is the most unrespectful you can be. you can't make a story so u take the story structure and copy paste from other stories.. the Woke realy ruining the content but from the beginning there no much of story there... because pepole now adays lazier then ever.
I ended up renting it from our towns library and.. except for a few good moments, this movie was boring, with At All Costs being about those damn bubbles (which is now The Imposter), Welcome to Rosas was the only thing that managed to keep awake through the beginning, and Im a Star? Don't even get me started on it! It was THE MOST convoluted, nonsensical, confusing, and down weird song I've ever heard! The only other song i liked besides the REAL At All Costs (im pretending The Imposter doesn't exist) was This Wish (Reprise) because you could interpret that as Aster (our Starboy) dying in Asha's arms, and begs both him and the people to help her bring him back, which ultimately does!
typically I do LOVED Disney of there animated movies from back then to there recent years but Disney's WISH felt very lackluster and barley put any effort into there characters or there main Villain and it had a terrible moral

Its this sweet story of separated sisters whos love helps with Elsa controlling her powers and Anna being able to save her just before Hans could kill her, jumping in-between them at the last second and turning to ice.. but thanks to that and Elsa crying on her, it breaks the curse and brings her back!😊😊 And don't worry, you didn't offend me. And what if someone’s greatest wish was something like wanting their dead relatives to come back to life? Would that be against the wishing rules like in Aladdin or would it create a zombie apocalypse? Or what if a person’s greatest rule was to take over the entire world and turn it into a dystopian nightmare? Or that a certain group of people would disappear and never exist? Asha really opened up a huge can of worms when she questioned Magnifico and made sure he was overthrown from power.
to think the concept art from the art book from this movie originally the Star was meant to be a shapeshifting Star-Boy and the love-interest for Asha which felt like a missed opportunity and I feel like Disney needs to go back to having a main couple romances in there animated and we haven't had a main couple romance since Tangled and that came out back in 2010

So we could have; A character like Jack frost from rise of the guardians but with golden skin, a cute romance between him and the heroine, an evil queen AND King. That sounds fun and creative! Too bad we got; An annoying talking goat, boring side characters (I can't remember any of Asha's friends and saw the movie last month) Pop songs who doesn't go AT ALL in a world full of magic and castles, a king who becames evil out of nowhere.
The movie would have been so much better if it was like the originals concepts!
Once upon a studio is the real 100 years celebration. This 8 minutes short has more passion, respect for animation AND emotion than Wish. I got chills and almost cry when Micjey thanked Walt. It was that good ☺

Disney may have been proving more and more how much they disrespcet that division, but it seems as though they have been succeeding in things their Film division has been trying but struggling to do since after, IMO, Moana:
*Combining comedy and drama in a way that feels organic and actually enhances the story instead of disrupting it.
*Telling a self aware and deconstructive narrative that feels legit and like it has something to say about pop culture.
*Having main characters that can be as silly as their supporting cast while still being competent and going through arcs that feel nuanced.
*Having side characters that are actually funny and go through their own struggles throughout.
*Having villains that are either funny, complex, or both, while still having understandable motives and being actually threatening or compelling (to be fair, that's been a problem for Walt Disney Animation since after Wreck-It Ralph).
*Having dark imagery as well as themes and not being afraid to scare children.
*Having an inclusive cast that's there for representation, instead of just brownie points.
*having unhinged humor that still fits the world and characters.
*Having said worlds be imaginative and new while still calling back to past stories.
Too bad these shows rarely have time for 20 more adventures.

This movie had so many missed opportunities. The villain transformation was too fast, and the references were annoying. Heck I like your idea for the movie at the end.
By the way, did you get to watch Once Upon a Studio? It was short, but every reference in there and every single moment worked and it was perfectly paced. It did everything that Wish could have done.

Honestly I didn’t think Wish was that bad. It wasn’t the best Disney movie either. It was just okay and on par with Meet the Robinsons or Chicken Little. I wouldn’t say that the movie was terrible. It wasn’t great but it really wasn’t as bad as some people have claimed. At best it was mediocre and probably would’ve been better received if it came out during any other year that wasn’t a Disney celebration. If it had taken the place of Strange World I think people would just say it’s average at best and not complain about it. Also this movie made me actually side with Magnifico and see how Asha was actually making things worse for literally everyone by wanting to grant all of their wishes. What if a few of them were truly horrible wishes like wanting dead family members to suddenly be alive again or creating a dystopian nightmare world? Those can be someone’s greatest wish. An orphan could realistically want to have their parents living again as their greatest wish and that could go wrong in so many ways including a zombie outbreak.

While watching the movie and then seeing all of the wishes being released, I began asking myself what if one of those wishes were to cause a genocide of a certain group of people or something that seems innocent at first like an orphan wishing their dead parents came back to life and ends up creating a zombie apocalypse? Not every wish that people have is pure and innocent. Some are full of evil intentions or could have negative consequences as a result. The saying be careful of what you wish for exists for a reason.
First of all, i just wanted to say that even though I consider myself to be conservative on most things, I don’t really care about the "woke" crap that much. I just feel like a lot of movies nowadays are just boring, generic, and soulless, and that's what turns off to most modern movies.
Secondly, this was probably Disney's biggest L I've seen in years! And this is coming from a guy that saw that Tomorrowland" movie no one remembers in theaters! I mean, I don't get what they were trying to do here! Especially with all those references to other Disney movies! The Once Upon a studio short was a better 100 year celebration of Disney and that was barely six minutes long! I just hope and pray that Disney will do better with their next movie!

I ended up renting it from our towns library and.. except for a few good moments, this movie was boring, with At All Costs being about those damn bubbles (which is now The Imposter), Welcome to Rosas was the only thing that managed to keep awake through the beginning, and Im a Star? Don't even get me started on it! It was THE MOST convoluted, nonsensical, confusing, and down weird song I've ever heard! The only other song i liked besides the REAL At All Costs (im pretending The Imposter doesn't exist) was This Wish (Reprise) because you could interpret that as Aster (our Starboy) dying in Asha's arms, and begs both him and the people to help her bring him back, which ultimately does!

Its this sweet story of separated sisters whos love helps with Elsa controlling her powers and Anna being able to save her just before Hans could kill her, jumping in-between them at the last second and turning to ice.. but thanks to that and Elsa crying on her, it breaks the curse and brings her back!😊😊 And don't worry, you didn't offend me. I was just stating my opinions.
