In hindsight, this scene is kinda sad... because Axl is making it kinda obvious that he really likes her, but she basically prompts him to immediately break up at their prom. She casually talked about them eventually breaking up due to long distance (college). It seems like he was so attached, meanwhile she was just into the mere physicality of the relationship. If someone really likes you, and you don't see a future together, you should break up immediately. Instead, she basically led the poor guy on.
They’re teenagers. It’s not leading someone on to date someone you don’t see a long future with when you’re still a literal child. You’re figuring out who you are and what you want in a relationship at that age. It’s perfectly reasonable to want to be with someone because it’s nice to have a date for prom when you’re a kid. Their parents need to be teaching them that it’s a time for figuring things out, not settling down. Our brains aren’t even fully developed before our mid-twenties. It’s fine to just want to have fun for a while when you’re young. She shouldn’t need to explicitly tell him she doesn’t foresee a future with him. They’re children. It’s a lot likelier than not that they won’t end up together long-term.
I think Cassidy did like Axel but I think she knew they had a expiration date. She was going to college in New York that she worked to hard to give up and he was going to college in Indiana and long distance don’t really work unless there is an end date. I don’t think Cassidy wanted to plan her life around a relationship when she was 18. They did like each other I think she was the first girl that Axel was crazy beyond looks for and he learned a lot
@mariaskabardonis8353 nah. Whenever he wanted to talk about things, she would just want to fool around. She's not necessarily a bad person, but she seemed like a smart and mature enough girl to recognize that Axl was serious. She was more focused on her perspective of what the relationship was supposed to be. That's why she wanted to be together for three more weeks before breaking up. She wanted to have fun fooling around before having to go separate ways. If someone really likes you like that, and you don't feel the same, you should break up immediately. You can let the other person "break up" with you for their pride, but you shouldn't stay together. It was like a lustful fling to her, and she seemed to ignore his feelings (whether on purpose or not). Also, if she felt like he felt, they probably would've gotten married. Is it smart to marry young? Not really; but if two people like each other for more than just looks, it's worth giving it a shot. That's why he immediately broke up with her, because he felt those feelings, while she did not.
@TiffanyAllen1784 you're right in general, but based on the context of the show, not really. He was clearly serious and upfront about it. She was the smart girl in the school, and yet, she seemed to ignore the obvious signs. She was more interested in fooling around, meanwhile he was emotionally attached. She had enough experience to recognize the situation. You should immediately break up with someone that has serious feelings, whenever you know that your intentions are to just fool around. Maybe it wasn't her intention to be selfish, but that's basically how she handled the situation. Fooling around for mere pleasure only works when both people are just wanting to fool around.
@@JacobHill-b2d Her actions made her level of investment in the relationship pretty clear. He knew she was smart and likely going places. If that wasn’t his path, he should have recognized that their relationship had a shelf life. And based on this scene, he didn’t care much about her as a person of what she was getting out of dating him until his younger brother told him that she wouldn’t stick around just for that. So his interest was based more on wanting to keep having her as her girlfriend than genuinely caring enough about her. If that was true, he would have cared about the depth of their relationship from the beginning. When his feelings deepened and hers didn’t, it should have been pretty obvious. Even here, he’s looking for a cheat code to be able to talk to her. He’s not actively showing an interest her passions and why they’re important to her, he’s just memorizing some facts he obviously doesn’t care about to impress her and keep her from leaving. That’s not a relationship that’s going to work out. He was every bit as selfish, you just want to blame her.
How is literally nobody talking about the fact that he is “snap chatting” on that ridiculously old ass phone. Snapchat barely worked on the iPhone 4 when it first came out lol
That was a cute sibling moment
This was the first time he asked Brick for advice
And Brick kinda enjoyed it too much

I love the part about F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. LOL.
Axl knew Brick was right
Brick was right. Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus is a complicated romance book
and it's not a science fiction book

I Like Women

Brick needs to be quiet about Axl relationship
Brick has a point, and because of him, Axl is closer to his girlfriend, like it or not.
