Awesome synopsis, watched it just before placing my first Blakemore last night. Went flawlessly using the exact technique in the video, bleeding controlled, patient survived, thank you!

Great video. One point, however, is that the Posey Cufflator device gauge reads in cm H2O, not mmHg. So, if you are using that, you want to take it to at least 40 cm H2O (which is roughly 30 mmHg), and go no higher than 60 cm H2O (roughly 45 mmHg).

I truely enjoy watching these sarcastic medical demos, I always end up learning something AND smiling :).

Great video and short enough to help quickly orient in an emergency.

I've found that placing the 3 way stopcock in the ports of the blakemore directly does NOT create an adequate seal and causes an air leakage from the balloons. Either have to use clamps to clamp the ports between usages or Weingarts method with luer lock to x-mass tree adapter. I'm using the exact same blackmore and 3 way stopcocks seem pretty standard.

4:19 the goal is 30 mm of mercury... As an RRT, I cringed a little... air is calculated in cmH2O.. which is lighter then mercury.. And, your pressure gauge is also in cmH2O. So you do not have 30 mmHg... I don't know the pressures for the blackmore balloons, so just check back i, it's is propable 30 cmH2O. If not, the factor is 1.39 for conversion.
