      Seriously though.
Im not one that shows emotion easily, but i actually had to stop watching at around timestamp 8:30 because i was genuinely starting to cry. I was starting to imagine coming home one day and finding my dog curled up on my bed, dead in his sleep…
Doesn’t help that my dog is somewhere around 15% Jack Russel Terrier…

    1) Absolutely heart-breaking that Poncho passed without Erin there. My first pet loss was my albino budgie, Snowy. She didn't seem to be feeling good, but my Mom told me to put her back down and give her some peace and quiet while we watched the Peanuts Christmas special. When I came back she was gone. I have never stopped feeling guilty, even though she may have wanted to be alone.
    2) This is absolutely my most hated SCP. I would be hell-bent on seeing it terminated if I was a researcher.

Had another cat that was having breathing issues that continually got worse and no vet could figure it out. Put him down cus i didn't want him to go alone when we were sleeping/at work. I'm so glad I was there for both of them.
The part where it said the dog died alone wondering if she'd get home in time made me break cus I miss my cats so bad and am so glad I was there for their final moments.

My first dog Lani, she had a heart murmur, something was wrong and we knew it and rushed to the animal hospital at like 4am, the most heart breaking thing for me as I was holding her, I felt when she diet, I'm so grateful though that I was with her till the end and she was being held and loved. But it was so soul crushing for ne, especially as we had just pulled into the hospital. And their was nothing they could do. My mom ended up adopting another dog ironically her name was already Hina Lani, our poor neighbors thought my mom was this psycho dog lady naming her dogs the same thing lol but I was just so soul crushed and I just couldn't love this poor dog as I should. I still loved her but I knew something was missing, I wouldn't let her lay with in my bed only layer with her on the couch. She was an older dog that was from a breedy farm and theh didnt take care of her at all. She was loosong teeth and had cancer. She ended up having a botched surgery that killed her, and I just felt so guilty bc I couldn't connect with her fully during her time. We only had her for about half a year. Out of pure insanity my mom adopted another dog, this time quite younger but I think Hina Lani gave me a bit of peace as I was able to connect with this one this time. It's only been a couple months but I promised myself I wouldn't push away this pup this time. But I've never stopped feeling guilty about either dog. We truly don't deserve the unconditional love they give us

If you’re wondering how the Foundation keeps this twisted piece of work in a containment cell, here’s something I copied from the website:
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-589 must be contained within a sealed, reinforced container that is welded shut. Under no circumstances is SCP-589 to be removed from its container, physically contacted, or even seen. SCP-589 and its container must sit on a scale so that it may be continually weighed to confirm SCP-589's presence.
SCP-589's containment cell may only be accessed by level 4 personnel, and must be guarded by at least two level 4 security personnel with twenty four hour surveillance. Under no circumstances is SCP-589 allowed to leave its containment cell. Any personnel attempting unauthorized entry or removal of SCP-589 will be terminated.
Should containment be breached, then the entire sector SCP-589 is held in must be immediately purged via demolition charges or incendiary devices. Any personnel assigned to the sector that manage to escape must be questioned and then immediately detained for psychological screening.
In the event that SCP-589 must be handled without the protection of the container, the only personnel authorized to handle SCP-589 must be cleared by Foundation psychologists and must have a Psionic Resistance Index of 30 or higher. Once their task is complete, all personnel that have handled SCP-589 must submit to a mandatory psychological screening.

That’s so sad, I’m sorry to hear you lost your funny friend. Pets are a gift and bring so much joy. I don’t know if this is your first loss, but it will (slowly) get easier everyday.
I’ve lost a few now but the two I took the hardest were the most recent, 2016 and this January. I still think about them daily and miss them around me. It took some time to stop calling their names when meaning to call another cat (I’ve always had 3-4 at a time). Or like, everyone would blame Crookshanks (the cat from January) anytime anyone in the house audibly farted (just a dumb family joke, blaming the least likely culprit), and for a few week after, just from habit, someone would yell “Crookshanks did it!” Followed by sudden, painful and uncomfortable silence at the sudden remembrance.
It’s ok though, you love your friend, you don’t want to just cut them out like that, and it will come naturally with time. Just remember to be kind with yourself and allow yourself to go through the grieving process. It’s hurts because the love was so great. Always treasure that great love.

I imagine if this were to appear to me now it would appear as the girl I tried to ask out. She was the first girl I have ever tried to ask out, and of course she said the worst four words anyone could hear in that situation. I have a boyfriend. It would likely appear as her. I have been obsessing over this failed relationship for two or three weeks. I've lost count. But this, this SCP, has made it a lot easier to move on. Seeing someone destroy their life over something she can't have. It gives me motivation to move on, or else perhaps scp-589 will come for me.
Edit: I imagine someone will say it has to appear specifically as a pet. But that is never specified in the article on the wiki.

I appreciate how the writer who wrote this story wrote the passing. There's always the gap and the emptiness when you lose them, because you have such a hard time being the one that continued living after watching such a treasured creature grow from birth to death. Rest in peace all the animals we've all tried to give a good life 💔

The bit where where Poncho died got me. There are tears as I type this because I had a Jack Russell terrier at some point. While I can't say the love was mutual, she was still my dog. I had to give her to a new home because she was aggressive towards me under certain conditions, but it was either that or she would've been put down.
She was 10 at the time, and it's definitely been long enough that she's passed on, and I wonder frequently if she was at peace with her life and finally, truly happy with her final owner. She had a rough time with my mom and I, and there are so many regrets attached to the memories I have. I feel like I wasted those years I had with my dog.
If I got anything out of all that, though, I became a much better pet owner because of it.

I’ve lost two pets myself, a black cat named Tinkerbell and a calico named Navi. It was easy to tell with Tinker, I think she had a stroke? She started coughing and was unable to walk straight, kept falling over before just laying down on the ground. I held her until she was gone, making sure she knew she was loved and that she wasn’t alone in her last moments. Navi, though… she had been sick for a few weeks, I’m fairly certain a UTI and anemia. We were giving her medicine, but it wasn’t enough. Usually, whenever I’d go to bed she come up and sleep next to me, but she had taken to sleeping under my bed instead, I think because she knew what was coming. Then, one morning, I woke up and tried to get her up to go take her medicine, and, well… you can always tell when they’re gone. If you’ve never had a pet before, you might not know what I’m talking about, but if you have… she was just lying still, and I think I knew even before I called her name and reached out to pet her cold fur, and she didn’t respond.
Thankfully, I had friends and family to help me move on with my grief, and I have my own cat named Jinx who I’ve had for a few years now, and besides a bit of weight gain he’s still healthy, so I think I’ve got a few years with him yet. Still though, I worry every time I go to work that when I come home I’ll find out he got into something he shouldn’t have and I’ll come back to an empty apartment.
Sorry for the long story, I don’t often get to talk about my old pets

This sounds almost like the obsessive doll just on a smaller level. The obsessive doll will take a form of a toy or doll and make whoever comes in contact obsessed over it to the point it’s all they can think about. When the person or multiple people is so dependent on it, the toy will vanish, and all pictures, videos, and even drawings will disappear. Leaving whoever was in contact with it go into a massive depression and leave them thinking irrational, even to the point they would kill just to get the toy back.
