Unfortunately the traveling caught up with me last week and I am still trying to recover from a cold. I am usually good while I'm on the trip if I start working out right away. If I wait until Im adjusted then one day turns into a few days and soon the trip is over and I didn't workout.
I feel your pain! Had to slog through knee deep snow for about 5 miles in the middle of a 25miler because I was too stubborn to turn around. Way to stay strong and keep up the hard work!
I really appreciate this series; it's a great insight into the life balance achieved, whilst preparing for something, as opposed to training schedules only suitable for full time athletes. Keep it up!
Thanks you E! My goal was to certainly so a side that I felt wasn't often being shown which was the balance required for an average person with a job and family. Thanks for the support.
Great video, I have had two light weeks since my trail marathon with a bit of a cold on top but your latest video provides inspiration to push on for the last weeks of my 50k plan. Keep producing them
One more thing you're lucky with the cold weather it has been weeks of 100 with 90% humidity in Sydney Australia we are all praying for one cool running day!
Thanks Charles. I will try to put something together. I tend to mainly layer a lot so that I can strip off as needed. I tend to be cold a lot so I typically over dress when I head out and put things off as I warm up. I basically start with a lightweight tech base/shirt and than add thicker and thicker layers as I go up in layer count. The big thing for me is keeping my hands and head warm. My legs aren't really an issue and the core seems to warm up quickly if it's not to windy.
Always a great watch during down time in the evening. As always Chris, thanks for sharing your journey. You have a lot of balls to juggle with family, work, side hustles, workouts etc. How do you find the best way to manage it all. I’m self employed with a 3 month old baby and my days are rammed... any tips?
Thanks, Sam. I am obviously behind on comments :) Every so often I will sit down and evaluate all the things I'm doing and prioritize. I have cut things out like watching TV. I pretty much run a tight schedule from when I wake (4-4:30am) until I drop (9-9:30pm). I will say that when my kids were that young I wasn't getting the things done that I am now. Once my youngest hit 5 this year it became a lot easier.
nice to see you running in the Netherlands :) such a nice country for running. I've finally watched all the episodes until now, and they are really nice. I'm getting motivated for my own run that day. I'm still trying to do an early run, but I need to go to work at 6, so it will be really early then :( What are you eating before those early runs? Training for Marathon of Amsterdam in October.
I go back and forth on what I eat before runs. Lately...runs under 6-8 miles (10-12k) in the early morning I have been running fasted with just water. I do drink a Vitargo and protein shake when I get back. On longer runs I will eat some toast, banana or waffle.
Hi I've been watching your RUclips channel quite a bit, you're a great inspiration, it would be so nice to live in a warmer climate, training has been pretty hard this winter. I live in Michigan. Your work ethic really inspires me, to get out the door. Thanks for all your volgs, I watch a lot of Seth demoor videos to, you should check him out great guy, and a great runner.
It was awesome. I use to feel like I have a hangover when I would get off international flights but the new planes are pressurized so much better I felt great when I arrived.
Did I miss the background info of how long you've been running, how many (if any) marathons/ultras you've run before? I've been running for about two years- but had a major hip injury and am now pregnant and unable to run. Would be helpful to know how long you've been doing this! An ultra is a lifetime goal! :)
I really did't start running until my early 30's...so 12 years and it's been sporadic over that time. I have run 4 Ironman's, 1 50K ultra, and 3 World Toughest Mudders which is a 24-hour obstacle course.
Really enjoying this, admire you greatly for running with that American work schedule whilst travelling. As a man though you are very lucky us females take our lives in our hands running with headlights in the dark alone.
Think you'd find that the vast majority of physical attacks (overall) are against men.. and the statistics for sexual assault of males are not far off those for women. So your comment is pretty uneducated.. But I suppose we have the media focus to thank for that!
Can you help with some advice. I have a minor calf stain and wanted to know how long you take off? I have watched a litony of Dr videos but wanted to know from a guy out there running daily
Honestly I'm probably the worst person to ask. I have been training through all of my injuries this go round. I have been doing a ton of foam and ball rolling as well as getting massages which helps a lot. I have also altered my stride...much shorter steps...to minimize the pain. If I wasn't 7 weeks out from my race I would probably take a couple weeks off from running and doing something like swimming to keep my cardio up. Hope it feels better soon.
Definitely take off, if it's only a grade 1 strain just rest for a few days...grade 2 a few weeks...grade 3 maybe surgery. The thing with running is that most times if you run through pain you at a very high risk of making the injury worse and just costing yourself way more time off from running. In my humble opinion rather take a few days off and ease into training...as for cjmedia, he has a race coming up, so I understand the 'gamble' of just running through it, if he is lucky his strain will heal, if not he will could risk a grade 2 strain or even a coplete tear, which could keep him from running for months, rather than days... Injuries are complicated and it's really hard to be patient, but sometimes being cautious is a smart move. It's just my 2cents :) I just recovered from a strain a few months ago, did a lot of rehab and just eased back into training slowly :) now I'm back to 60miles a week pain free:)
Loving this series. I’m not a fan of running myself BUT I am a fan of peace and you make running seem peaceful.
I like your videos because they show how you balance family, work, and running. Keep it up!
Thank you Dustin
Great videos!!! Love the camera in the dryer. Nice touch:)
HAHA. Thanks!
Continue to love these. Keep plugging away man
Just caught up on your latest video, great episode again! I always struggle when travelling long haul to keep the running going.

Good job 💪
I loved the Fullerton Loop segment! I was at the gym laughing out loud, but it was all in good fun! Much love brother! Keep it up! 💪🤨🍻!
binged watched all previous instalments yesterday ;) looking forward to future episodes.
marshovision glad you are enjoying them. Where are you from?
I'm in the UK. Some great places to run near me, North Wales and the Peak District but Red Rock Canyon looked epic. @@CjayeMedia
Unfortunately my UK portion of the trip was short and I wasn't near much for running. Hopefully next time I'm over I can see some more.
Nice video. Best of luck for next week.
Thank you

Let us pray together... here in Brazil is really hot and we can only feel envy for colder temps.
Another great episode.
Always interesting!!!
Good quality video 🔥
Thank you
would love a video of the different clothing you wear based on the climate! Could def use some recommendations! Loving the videos

Great video. 👊🏻 Have a great week!
Thanks buddy! How's the training coming?

So I thought of you. Stepping off a dam curb strained my calf. It's sore but kept running with no issue
What! Hope it heals quickly.

Thanks Brent. I can't imagine training in Michigan weather all winter...hats off to you. I do follow Seth as well.
What’s up with all the rain? Thought it never rained in Southern California...another great video
Always great to run with runners in a different country.
And you got to fly the Airbus A 380. How was that?
It was awesome. I use to feel like I have a hangover when I would get off international flights but the new planes are pressurized so much better I felt great when I arrived.

Cjaye Media wonderful! Thanks! I was 30 too :) love the videos!
8 weeks left! when does Karl have you reach the longest runs?
I am planning on doing a 20-24 mile run about three weeks out...so March 12th I believe.
I missed some runs last week due to sickness and rain also.
Bummer. Hope you are feeling better.
No real hills 😁😁😁 in Holland.
