Dry beans..no expiration as long as kept well will last long even more than 10 years..my grandma has kept beans for decade and when she planted it grows well and healthy...it is better that all these stuffs mention here that was kept in cans and plastic...i believe if it is kept in glass jar but in plastic? Hmm...
Can Tomatoes that aren't in a metal can. Mason jar yrs but nothing tomatoes in a metal can. Trust me, I know. I've eaten Chef Boyardee chicken tortellini, I could only eat half the contents of the can and my mouth tasted like metal for 2 weeks. The can was 12 yrs past expiry. I still eat expired canned food or almost anything that is expired without problems but I try to stay away from anything tomato in a can. Canned tomatoes in a mason jar is completely different.
I'm still eating Quacker Brown Sugar Oats that are 3 & 5 yrs past expiry. The brown sugar gets hard and takes a little time to dissolve it but it still tastes the same.
Some of those "expiration" dates are too conservative. Most canned goods will be edible for many years after their so-called expiration. They may lose flavor or texture, but they're still perfectly safe to eat.
Spaghetti sauce (non meat marinara types) will last years past expiration. Keep it in a cool dark basement. Boxed cereals are packaged in nitrogen and will last two years or more after expiration if not opened. They go stale much more quickly though once you do open them since the BHT and such used as preservatives are past their prime by then. Keurig K cups are also nitrogen sealed and will last 3 years or more past best buy date. Same goes for Flavia packs, they’re vacuum sealed in foil and last years. Instant coffee will last decades if its a glass jar. Maple Syrup can actually be used if it goes moldy, scoop the mold off the surface bring back to boil and it’s good to go, it’s probably the only food you can do it with but it is because it’s basically pure sugar so the mold just sits on the surface.

Very informative video! I knew most of the things in your video. But I did not know why? damaged cans are not the safest food to eat. I just know not to use damaged cans after about 4 weeks or so. I just never buy them at all. all in all great video.
Expiration dates are put on by the manufacturer. The Food and Drug Administration has nothing to do with them. After all, they put expiration dates on water.
