I taught myself to play the banjo in Japan in the late 70's when I was 5th grade. One of the books I was lucky to get hold of was Tony Trishka's "Melodic Banjo" in Japanese (I still have the copy). Devil's Dance was transcribed in it, but today is the first time actually I listened to it. Amazing! Thank you for uploading it.
Holly, I had this 45 of Devil Dance and Foxfire. Bobby was amazing. Was he your father? I always wonted to meet him. My cousin Sonny Burnette knew him and always promised to introduce me to him. He was a master of his instrument. God Bless Him. I'm sure you miss him.
James Christensen , very distant if at all. Considering the spelling is the same, yes we are related. There’s about four different spellings out there. I spoke to him once on the phone and as I recall, he lived out in the Seattle area and have guitar lessons. According to Rolling Stone, Bill is #64 in the best guitar players ever.
Bobby Thompson is THE best banjo player ever!!
