The string wobbles that your camera catches from your playing are so god damn hypnotic. Lol i like your playing too! Its just so much fun seeing how strings work in such high detail!
For those interested/wondering: the TonePump (and tonepump jr) are meant to emulate Ampeg SVT's. The Tonepump differs from the Jr in that it has an internal trimpot that allows you to sweep exactly how much the pre-amp can boost the frequencies. In between halfway and 0 is the "middle" where there's essentially no boost or cut. My Euro LX is my favorite bass to play, it's the most comfortable instrument I've ever played.
@@josegalindo1262 definitely. I almost bought a Legend 5 that some guy jacked up with Barts and the Haz Lab preamp because I was craving that sound (my 4LX has EMG's and the TonePump) but he was charging $800 so I was on the fence. now it's gone :(
I've been a Spector player for years, and I have an '89 NS-2, but I just got the Pulse in the same ultraviolet finish, and it is very amazing! Spectors have always been my "go to" basses!
These are really comfortable basses to play (next to the insanely priced Warwick neck throughs). What's more, they don't look as "boutique" as the Warwicks and are a great fit whether you're playing Stoner Metal of Jazz. And unlike a boutique bass, you'll actually play gigs with it and not have a conniption fit if you scratch it. I just love a "They got it right & I don't have change a thing bass."
You are really comparing apples to oranges. This specter is in the more affordable range. Not a Warwick master built. Way different from one end of the spectrum to the other end. ( Imop) not impressed with the specter. Regardless of being payed for a review or not. I believe Patrick over sold this review. I generally like his reviews I just can't agree with him on this.
My dad grabbed one of these. The neck feels better than words can describe. The tone came alive with a bit of extra attention to pickup heights and new strings. Huge bass tone for the cost.
I have the Spector Euro LT, and it’s overall the best bass I had, the tone is amazing, from metal to pop, very versatile, fits PERFECTLY in any kind…but for metal and rock the tone is just 😍 and it plays so well…SPECTOR is quality…
Sounded better than The 5 string version videos. Wonder if its just the style/signal chain or the actual pup setup. I cant justify buying 4 stringers :p
It’s the pickup spacing. Look at the euro 5 strings. They’re much closer together. I have an older NS2000q5 and it has the same spacing as the pulse. It’s not bad, but I’ve never been a fan of the wider spacing.
tried one out yesterday and got it to sound like justin chancellors tone on 10,000 days which was good fun lol both pickups on with bass and treble boosted about a quarter turn through an ampeg rocket 1x15 combo
Could you make a video on their most affordable series, the performer I believe? It would be interesting if you could try that line and one of their most expensive lines too, just to see the differences great video!
Is there any issue with the bridge. I got this recently and noticed the a and e string rattle at the bridge. Although it is a beauty, I don't want this type if issue with a 1100 dollar bass
Malcolm H Korg buying Spector for me personally has not been positive experience. Also close friends of mine not so much either. We have all experience everything from cosmetic flaws to wiring issues. In the last three years have purchased 3 Euro 5 LX all have been returned for legitimate reasons concerning quality and craftsmanship. Will not ever buy another Spector. And my close friends are in the same boat
@@tonycarel1785 interesting.. I had sort of thought it would go down in quality. Ned Steinberger oversaw Spector but then became not involved through all of it. When Ned sold the Steinberger bass to Horner, it went from greatness to junk and original Steinberger basses doubled in $$; some more, years later. I hope my original Euro LX holds value in like fashion
Great video! So what (other than color) is the difference between the II’s and the pulse I’s (the ones that come in sand blasted grey and black)? Thanks!
Hey Patrick! I’ve been on the fence about looking into getting a bass from Maruszczyk, but would love to hear your thoughts on one! Any plans on doing a demo with them?
Help me out. I’m trying to buy a new bass but I don’t live anywhere near a decent music shop here in Ireland. Would you rather have Spector Pulse 2 or a used Musicman Stingray and why? I played bass a for a few years and learned the fretboard board and then played guitar for 20 years and now want to go back and play bass again. Ideally I would get one of each but this will be my main bass instrument, most likely 5 string.
@@hellizeo I got a Spector Pulse 5 string for less than half price. Still want to get a stingray one day but I might buy a new EMP PreAmp for the Pulse first. It plays beautifully and I really recommend the pulse. I was very fortunate to get it for a bargain price. A guy bought it new and didn’t like it so flogged it for £500 hardly played.
Awesome review, Patrick. 😎🎸🤘🏻 This bass sounds killer. Especially with distortion. And nicely done on the Alice In Chains tune. I’m a fan of Alice In Chains. Since you’ve asked what bass to check out, I would recommend checking out Yamaha trbx or bb basses and schecter stiletto basses. I own these basses. Phenomenal sounding and underrated. I also would recommend dean edge basses. Definitely Check them out if you’re interested in trying something underrated.
Hey Patrick I love Spector would love to have one but out of my price range maybe this one if they made it left handed but chuck out the Spector euro 4 omg amazing!!!
I have a Schecter -- not Spector -- bass that looks exactly like this bass. Literally everything is the same except the pickup configuration. Finish, EMG pickups, body shape, knob layout, etc.
Something I find a little hard to find these days is to try and find a Spector 535 35" scale. Same comfortable neck but with more piano like sustain which I think you'd like for your distorted tones.
why did they put that terrible tonepump jr in this thing again?? that was the biggest problem with the original pulse and that just ruined the pulse ii for me, im so sad :((
Everything's fine but not the cost. Idk why not only this model but also all Spector basses made in Korea are unnecessarily and unreasonably expensive. Concerning the cost, buying Euro series are MUCH!!!!!!!!!! better than any Legend series and NS series.
Can't agree more! In this respect, buying Warwick GPS seems way better. At least, all Warwick GPS series are equipped with original MEC pups/electronics with its outstanding wood tone.

The Czech made rebop DLX. They were the best bang for the buck in the mid 2000s when I peaked as a musician and human being.
