@@mikea5205 seriously. I agree. He’s great, and a wonderful asset to the pool world, but goodness gracious, you don’t have to talk every single second of the match…
There is clearly some misunderstanding between what commentary should be and just perpetual mouth blabbering. Just be silent and let us watch the players do their thing. Speak only to relevant moments that warrant some insight. Billy just constantly talks!!! As a test I disabled volume and replaced it with background noise of fingernails on chalkboard - result....much improved.
Anyone else think 8 ball should be played with this set of balls? I suppose black ball isn't a call shot game then....just like Chinese 8 ball Visually it's a lot easier to look at the layout seems like....
In the tenth frame while they were talking about Corey's combination that failed they cut back to Johnny potting a ball then it went to Corey. Did Archer call safe? Btw, Are those snooker sized balls?
Being that he seemed to intentionally leave the cueball on the rail he must have called safe. I agree it is unclear what happened and the commentators didn't bother to mention it.
I would really like to know what the thinking is about using the red/yellow ball set. It makes it harder to commentate, is useful only for eight ball, and is nonstandard. I see no benefits, and some down sides. What am I missing? Maybe people are just tired of trying to follow all those dumb alternate colored balls that supposedly make the balls easier to differentiate on video, but most definitely don't, and confuse the crap out of everyone participating? I heard a comment by Varner in another match he was commentating that it is never a good thing when a snooker player picks up a bridge. Accordingly, I expect Appleton has that skill well in hand, too. Another advantage for him on the larger than normal, but still much smaller than snooker, table. Corey's bridge use there was just plain weird, and I'm not too impressed with my opening view of it. Again, what possible benefit? Great, and very weird, match. Some heart breakers, some weird stuff, a couple of strangely lousy executions, a lot of superb play, and a few stellar shots. Fun to watch. Great TV. It looked like Dueul got a bit of a pick me up when Pagulayan walked in. You can tell they are good friends with the empathetic face Alex made when Corey was filling him in. There were some brutal table layouts presented after some of those breaks. And MAN, did you call it on the "I wouldn't give Corey a kick" or what? :-) That was one serious grind for both of them. You can't get a closer hanger than that, in more ways than one. Are you going to post the Efren/Alex following match? I looked and didn't find it. Bringing these old vids of excellent matches out of mothballs is a great idea, keep up the good work! Know they are enjoyed and appreciated.
at 49:10 the commentary centers around that if Johnny takes the yellow he opens up the red. this comment shows lack of depth of either thought or knowledge, not sure which. Johnny only needed to shoot at the yellow that sat between the cue ball and the side pocket. very easy shot, keeps the red tied up, AND the really easy three ball yellow red yellow combination would have been available from most of the table later in his run. yellow was not a tough runout at all, the only actual problem was the top left where the red was blocking the best pocket for a yellow, but that would have been easily resolved by anyone anywhere near archers talent. archer shot the wrong shot and the commentators missed it too...
I dont like the yellow and red balls for 8 ball, give me the stripes and solids, I am old school. And I wonder what Pat thought about Billy getting lost at the start of the match. It was 1-1 and Billy said it was game 3 and the score was 2-1, even though they had only played 2 games. Someone finally told him it was 1-1, most likely Pat.
I hope they never use this balls ever ! It’s bad enough they keep changing the colors . In this day & age standard colored numbered balls should be used as with technology has been vastly improved
I enjoyed the match. Balls with no numbers are not commentary-friendly. Thanks for the upload Pat.
Damn, had to mute again. Hard to listen when the commentator makes himself the main focus of the match and the players are second. Goodness...
Freakin Billy man great guy but damn I wish he'd shut up for just a few seconds.

Jonny Archer is playing very well tonight on the 5' x 10' looks like Corey has his hands full in these match.
Great match Corey came back!!! Great win.
Incardona sure is riled up
Great video and great match! For for the love of all that's holy get Kenny a cloth to clean the cue ball when he is racking! Drove me nuts! :)
Me too!
Great match

Corey is bad ass! 🎱
Nice job
Thanks!

Everyone except the commentators liked them.

No, they are the standard 2 1/4" American pool balls.
1:23:43 I'd also like to know what happened during this inning. Did Archer hit another ball before potting the yellow?
Being that he seemed to intentionally leave the cueball on the rail he must have called safe. I agree it is unclear what happened and the commentators didn't bother to mention it.
@@isaiahkazarovich Looks like he potted a ball but called safety leaving the cue on the short rail.

Johnny Air Barrel Archer
So, you waited 10 years to publish this.... because....?
We only started RUclips in 2020.
With not having the normal balls on the table it makes for horrible commentary.
Agreed, but the players loved them.
COREY WHO?
Why is Corey wearing his father's vest? Couldn't he find one in his size?

Billy is the best, no matter what. 🙂

The players loved them. They said it made planning easier. But it wasn't good for the commentators, so we stopped using them.
A good match but never heard Incardona to be so annoying.
what a stupid idea - let's get rid of the numbered balls - this is why serious pool tourneys are a joke still
The players liked the colored balls for 8-Ball. They could plan easier. Yet the commentators had a rough time, so that experiment didn't work.
BUT, that won't stop us from experimenting.🙂
