Maybe it would make sense for him to keep ONE extra of his favorite lenses in inventory on "hot" standby. But he is living in NYC. The camera store is only a few steps away, and it is his inventory. Believe me, they want to sell equipment, so they will try very hard to correct their misestimate of his consumption rate, and stock sufficient quantities in the future. That's capitalism!
