It is really unnatural for new channels on youtube to gain subs like new hololive members' channels get, and botted subs are a thing and youtube tries to prevent that. It really isn't difficult to make bots to sub to channels on youtube. From my small sample size of friends, I assume that if you have a premium youtube account, youtube won't suspect you of being a bot (logically, because you actually verify that you're most likely a real person by paying for youtube's service), but if you don't have premium, you might be classified as a bot. I'm sure it's much more complicated though and maybe someone might prove me wrong and say they were unsubbed even though they have premium, but out of a few people I've asked, none of those that got unsubbed had premium.

Yeah, it affects basically everything. Monetization, superchats, memberships... Sure, the requirements are only 1000 subscribers, but it gets handled much, much faster with a bigger number. On top of that, it can understandably be demotivating. I'd recommend everyone to resub - as in unsub and then sub again - because for me with past members, it has shown that I'm subscribed, but I would never get notifications or anything. I believe they'll bounce back, but it can be tough to get out of that hole once RUclips has pushed you into it.

When a new gen is announced, obviously holofans flock to subscribe to the new girls. The huge random gain in subscribers on an account that's only a few months old and had no videos at all is flagged as bot activity. That's why so many people were unsubbed
Yes I received an email saying my RUclips was deleted because it was detected for spam. But I did not post any vids and I only watch hololive and post a few times a week like this.
YT did the same with ReGloss. My guess is the algorithm doesn't understand their connection to Hololive/Cover and therefore thinks there's foul-play going on with sudden subscriber spikes.
They got sub-nuke 3 times now as I know 1st at the start of their debut, about - 20k 2nd after debut about 5 hours, about -40k 3rd about 24 hours after debut, about another - 70k Each
and I was also surprised when I saw it, because the last time I saw it, all the members had 100 thousand subscribers, and even Niko had 200 thousand subscribers

Yeah unfortunately this tends to happen to me quite often where for some reason I'm unsubbed to channels I follow and have to resub. While at the same time RUclips will randomly have me subbed to a channel I never heard of often bot accounts. If there's a channel you're subbed to but haven't gotten a notification or recommendation from that channel in a long time make sure RUclips didn't unsubscribe you and also check to see if RUclips didn't subscribe you to channels you never heard of.
I checked this morning and saw that I got completely unsubbed to all 5 of them, but I did not get unsubbed from their group channel. The group channel was the only one I watched a music video on, but for the others, I couldn't tune into their livestreams nor did i watch any of their videos at the time, only clips. Unsure what triggered it, but how i initially subbed was on the main group "affiliated" tab, and I just mass clicked all their names really quickly, so maybe that triggered something.
I remember during Gen 5's debut the max sub they got was like 300k. I think it's started at Niji and not Holo where high subcount pre-Debut is considered Botted. Ever since it happened each time Holomems' subcount reaches 100k+, YT will deduct half to "filter the bots out"

This usually always happens with "new" accounts. Like twitter the new gens are usually always locked out/banned/flagged right off the bat because of the overwhelming amount of followers or subscribers attained in such short time. It's their security check for bot activity, usually should be resolved in a week, at most, as with most cases were a few days. I hope their senpais reassured them all that this is a common occurrence so they don't feel bad, though this was probably the biggest drop of subs from any of the gens as of today for their debut week.
One time I rechecked my subscription list and found not one but lots of garbage channels that I did not remember ever interact with. Hearing this new problem adds my suspicion that someone manipulating YT behind the curtains 😕. Hopefully things will get better on their ends.
