When I was a kid I managed to trick my parents into getting me this (what I thought to be, in my 10 year old head) to be a dark and gritty fantasy looking game called Oblivion. With a name like that and the stoic red-tinted armored figure on the cover, I was very surprised when potato faced men and women were telling me to rain rats on small villages. It was a surprise to be sure but a welcome one and I’ve been hooked ever since lmao

I love how the shivering isles is supposed to be the realm of craziness but vanilla oblivion is just crazy enough for it to pass as the shivering isles if it was skyrim
They literally made Shivering Isles as a nod to how ridiculous some NPC interactions and dialog are. It's their way of leaning into it haha.

I think the funniest thing is going from watching videos like this to actually playing the game and realizing that almost every interaction are like these.
One of the best games ever made. With the best NPC dialog.

Me too. Sometimes I get distracted by the music and have to go back and rewatch parts of Oblivion videos.
I was leveling one of my character's destruction skill and accidentally hit a guard, but instead of running away i kept casting the spell and the guard couldn't arrest me. I think It's because i was holding block and casting a spell at the same time, it's a glitch that allows you to cast spells more rapidly, and guards can't arrest you while casting spells.
Yep, I figured that little life hack a while back... once you have mana it makes DPSing way more *out of hand* ...
This sounds a lot like the trick I used to use in ESO when I was DPSing. I wasn't a good DPS...but hey, I had fun. 😅😅
The NPC's in Oblivion have better social skills than I do 🤔

It’s funny how when this game came out it was like the greatest most immersive game ever, 15 years later it’s still incredible but we can notice the humor and gaps that we didn’t have the privilege to in like 2006

On my first playthrough, I watched a Cheydinhal guard kill Aldos, and then when I talked to him he told me, with a worried look on his face, how the Dark Brotherhood is rumored to visit sleeping murderers to recruit them
