Memories don’t live like people do!!! It’s good to know where we from in order to know where we are going. We are all one , we breath the same air. What separate us is the class we’re born into but at the end weren’t different.
This is so desperately sad for both black and white people living in abject poverty it's heartbreaking. I feel very tearful and upset as I am sure we all do who watched this. Thank goodness they had sublime blues bands and great singers to lift their spirits. The music track was perfect but it all made me feel sick at heart for such suffering. Too horrible for words. Xxxx
That was truly amazing...thanks for whoever put this together...captivating, revealing, and encouraging from where we have come from and where we are now...Peace
3:29 mark is the famous Freddie Mcdowell. He was excellent !!! 6:23 a young B.B.King. 6:37 a young Jr. Kimbrough and Calvin Mack. 6:41 Charley Strucker. Would've loved to have seen some pictures of R.L. Burnside that i haven't ever seen. These fine people made GREAT music and i thank them for that.
Some great photos in this video. The gentleman playing guitar at 3:28 is playing an early 50s department store Harmony F-hole plywood acoustic. I have the exact same guitar but it's in better shape than his...
Delta, IL? I lived a little over an hour from a town called Delta, IL. These pictures and the music makes me think of home in the South and how much I miss it.
Its about the journey, not the destination. Being remembered in a history book means nothing. Besides, most history books are inaccurate and often depict the bad as good and the good as bad. Dont know why anyone would seek that as the ultimate human achievement. Youre given a life to live, not to make other people remember your life. If that happens, it happens. But it doesnt make your life meaningful. What makes life meaningful is simply just living, and actions are whats remembered. Abe Lincoln was known and remembered as Honest Abe, does that mean there wasnt millions of other men twice as honest as he was? No, of course not. Just be a great man, do what you must do to provide for you and/or your family, respect earth, and always stay true to your self and keep passions and hobbies in tact. Such is life, in almost any species. Even something as simple as an ant lives to do nothing more than work with fellow ants and provide for family. Difference between an ant and us though is we are conscious beings capable of emotions and mental abilities that allow us to experience this life on earth in the most optimal way possible.
@@Calilou52 Man thank you for those words they mean a lot and should be red by many others. I just sometimes think that we as humans are doomed by freedom. The freedom of choice. What are we and why are we here. We can't find an answer to that, so we are given this choice of what we should do with our lifes unlike an animal that lives in the moment and doesn't care how it feels.
@@Nils-km4wc that is free will and is exactly what makes us human!! While we, like any other creature, are creatures of habit. But what makes us so special is we can completely change all of our habits and essentially become “a new person” through therapy of the mind and have the capability to figure out how to survive in almost any environment. Personally, and this is completely just how I feel, I am fascinated with the mind and think that the mind is the key to any and everything. Especially what you seek. Through study of the human minds capabilities, you will find SO many different fascinations in realizing just how special our brains truly are. The eyes, which are part of the brain, are something else that truly gives you a perspective on how incredible our evolution was. For hundreds of thousands of years only the fittest and most intelligent of humans survived, which slowly bred more and more of these specimens weeding out the weak (natural selection) and eventually we ended up so far advanced, so massively intelligent, we learned how to build. We learned how to prepare foods for optimal nutrition. We learned how to create technology. And most importantly, we learned how to create an environment in which free will reigns king, something no other species has the fortune of having. We also put ourself at the top of the food chain not through physical means, rather intelligence allowed us to create the technology to not fear the wild. In no other species can you roam 1000 miles from home just to go sight seeing and try some foreign cuisine, any other species would die instantly. But we are so incredibly efficient that the average intelligent person could stay for a long time, learning the language, immersing in the culture. Which brings me to my last point, we are the only creature with cultures. Beautiful, ancient traditions passed down by one to be shared by another. You can look at a snake living in Egypt and look at the same kind of snake living in America and you wont see really any difference. But take two humans from two parts of the world? Different color, different language, different food, different morals, different mindsets, same goal. To survive. But we are so advanced that surviving is the least of our worries most of the time for us fortunate. At one time we could not wander even a half a mile from other humans without being taken by some alpha predator like wolves and had to constantly stay vigilant (why our eyes are so incredible) and knew death was a very possible out come of every single day. Yes there are humans still living like this, but only out of fear of other human. Such is the complexities of man. Sorry for such long responses, I just remember the years of asking those same questions and I still do, but rather I seek the how and THEN the why. Realize that we are not much different from the average worker bee, but at the same time we are so different in every way simply thanks to our free will and nothing else. I hope you find what you seek friend. Like I said, Life is about the journey, not the destination. What good is all the wealth in the world if you are still stuck answering these questions? Through living experience is the only way to find out your capabilities and through that comes an understanding of yourself, leading to a snowballing effect of self reflection in which we can sit and meditate. We are such incredible creatures we can sit and just think about our thoughts for hours. That is incredible and no other species can reflect the way we can. I know it sounds cheesy but you will find these answers one day and you will only find them through yourself and your trials and tribulations. No book, no text, and no scripture can give you the wisdom of life. You can read about the feeling of water all day, but if youve never felt it can you truly say you know what Water is? No, because a physical understanding is as crucial as a mental one. Just remember, question everything in the context of the ultimate truth. Not like some conspiracy theorist who thinks even the mail man is up to something, no I mean in terms of your interpretations. If you feel some way about something, ask yourself why? Say feelings for a girl, reflecting on why can give you the wisdom to know if what you are feeling is that of a true nature or that of a primal nature. Thats just one of a million examples. I know its cheesy, I know it sounds boring, but try meditation. Just try it for one week, an hour a day, and if you dont find at least one answer to these I will personally admit everything I have stated is false and I am no more than a fools fool. But I promise it will help. Again, hope you find answers
@@Nils-km4wc sorry that was so long lol you dont gotta read it, but it could help you. I definitely just want to help you out!! Hope it helps even a bit
I was born in 1956 in Louisiana, We moved to Chicago in 1968. I saw many things that were not so nice. I am white. Now I work on the South Side of Chicago at a US Postal Service processing plant. Most of the people there are "of color". I just do my job. The people I work with are very good people. I really respect them.
Deborah Allen No, the music is annoying, and it’s not good. Neither “powerful” nor “perfect” (what does that even mean?). But at least the video can be muted so i’m not complaining
That was brilliant. Such good flow all around. Thank you 🙏

This whole presentation moves me to tears.🇺🇸😇🙏😊🤗
THIS IS A TRULY GREAT VIDEO!!!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH !!!!
the power of stillness, a captured moment, those seen long gone, times past for us to be with for a moment, that is where we were, now we are here.
And will we make any difference, we ask.
Time feels like a single moment. It has always been “the present”, it’s like everything “has been happening”, never “happened”.

Glad you enjoyed it
A fascinating collection of photos from between 1920 and 1970 I'd guess, with a real cool song that fits in very well. Nice work!

What does it matter what you do or what happens in the world good or bad it will most likley be forgotten or ritten down in history books.
