Most people are pretty insecure about their music taste. If everybody around them says something sucks, they start to question why they like it. And on the flip side, if a prominent music outlet says something is great and they don't like it, then they'll give that music enough spins until it becomes familiar and therefore "good". Ultimately it comes down to TRUST YOURSELF! This shit is subjective and therefore you are never wrong.

I especially hate the people who say "This band you like sucks. You should be listening to this band instead." Congratulations, you just guaranteed I will never, ever listen to your favorite band.

This makes no sense to me considering my favorite band is King Crimson. Honestly, i have heard so much criticism of their music that i realized that all that matters is how a song makes me feel. In the Court of the Crimson king may be pretentious but i think its beautiful and that's all that matters. What separates good music from bad is the listener except when we talk about the 90's, more precisely Puff Diddy covering my favorite song of all time Led Zeppelin's Kashmir and turning it into a a rap song about how good he has it and how much you suck. Robert Plant's beautiful lyrics scrapped for that shit. But yeah, listen to what you want as long as it's not Puff Diddy's Kashmir.
what are kc's best albums in your opinion? i only know their debut & red, what are some other must-listens?
Cezayir61 Their second record "In the wake of poseidon" may not be as iconic as ITCOTCK but the title track for that song is one of the best, listen to the song in the Wake of Poseidon for the sequel to Epitaph you never knew you wanted. Larks Tongues in Aspic is my favorite album from the band, it's a progressive metal masterpiece that you need to listen to in it's entirety....the title track for that blew my fucking mind but the best song i would have to say is easy money. Discipline is their best album from the 80's and it has Tony Levin on bass, musically it is their most complex album they have ever done and yet somehow it sounds simple. Discipline is King Crimson's greatest accomplishment and there is nothing that sounds quite like it, my favorite song is Discipline but every song on it is awesome. Lastly their 90's album Tharak is an underrated gem, it's the grit of Red mixed with the musicianship of Discipline. My favorite song on Tharak is sex sleep eat drink dream but almost every song on it kicks ass. Just know that all the albums i mentioned sound completely different but they are just as good as their predecessors.

Great video!! I can definitely relate, I used to do that when I was younger ...one time I held a presentation on the Velvet Underground in sophomore year of high school (although that's not what you call it in Austria) and our teacher began to compare it to some song that won the Eurovision Song Contest in the 80s. He didn't mean it as in "your favorite band sucks" but the song he compared it to was awful and that made me question everything about my music taste lol ..I now know that Sunday Morning sounds absolutely nothing like Ein Bisschen Frieden and I can fully enjoy the Velvet Underground again, so there's my happy ending.

U2 didn't used to suck.... it's just that the 90s happened and they wanted to get down with the sweet sweet electronica action, and by the time they realized they're actually a hard working rock band they forgot how to write music.
Rock sure is a hipster thing now, haha! Proud to say I like more than one genre of music.

You know who sucks? You Joel! Where have you been? People I watch on RUclips are not meant to have personal lives that involve vacations and marriage and housing transitions. It's unnatural, I tell ya! You are supposed to only have a social life only within the confines of a barrage of stupid of RUclips comments! If you aren't busier making videos than the busiest music nerd, then I just see no point in listening to a single thing you have to say...why aren't you more like Nothany Lifetano, Joel?! WHY!?

U2 would just be another long-forgotten band at this point if it wasn't for their arrogance and pomposity. I don't think you need a bad taste in music to enjoy their work per se, just an undiscerning judgment of character.
