I had the pleasure of smoking weed with Jim twice in the summer of '67. He seemed to be a very nice, quiet guy off stage. RIP.
At age ten I hated my piano lessons. But then, at age 17, I heard this song and Manzarek's keyboard solo. I worked the summer for my dad for no pay and then he bought me a Farfisa organ. I joined a garage band, grew my hair like Jim's, practiced three hours a day and played Friday and Saturday nights at high school dances and college mixers. I ran after girls like mad and protested the Vietnam War in the streets. I played on garage bands for ten years (usually earning no money) and I still play Doors songs to this day. I have never regretted a single day of it.
Anyone 2024 listen? <3
why did the chicken cross the road?
Sounds like punk before punk was punk
Who Are Here in a Family of Eagles?...IRWINS
no one could scream like Mr. Morrison
"You dont make music for immortality, You make music for the moment, for capturing the sheer joy of being alive on planet Earth." --Ray Manzarek...
Why are the best songs always the short ones?
Jim is no longer with us.
There's no other version of this song that sounds as good as this!

Jim bought me a beer one night at a bar in Los Angeles in 1966. We went out the night before my sister got married. He actually read some of his poetry to me and my buddies.
One of the best first songs on a debut album by any group.
Jim Morrison, a rebel, poet, a genius, and a Singer and Songwriter. Jim The Lizard King, you'll never be forgotten. RIP
You can see a rotting corpse on major network primetime tv, but you can't hear "she get high" on the radio.
The keyboard work on this song always impressed me. Ray was a genius along with Morrison.
This entire album is a masterpiece Doors One of the best bands ever their music is still great today and lives forever
"She get high!" Hate that some other versions censor it.
You know the day destroys the night
