Your opinions line up with my own in most respects. I was also disappointed with the creature design of Orlock (although I did find the vocal performance and effects to be interesting), and I agree Helen Hutter's character was overwrought. Otherwise, it looked great, and featured excellent performances. Unfortunately, someone I respect described the film as a "masterpiece" so I allowed myself to get excited. It's ok, but I doubt the film will hold up as anything more than a footnote to Murnau's legacy.
